So parents and teachers should never ask a child to do a Chesed? This doesn’t sound too Jewish. A parent and teacher must be mchanech a child, and often that includes asking him to do a Chesed rather than the parent or teacher doing the Chesed himself. Furthermore, just like a child should give up his chair when none are available to an older person, he too should give up his bed before making an older child do so.

I don’t know if that’s true, but even if it is, if you would only eat CY you wouldn’t know that (even if it were true), and you would be happy with what you have (i.e. CY) since you wouldn’t know any better.

Why did your R”Y sign it, if he doesn’t believe in doing what he signed asking people to do?
sheinMemberHuh? Because someone doesn’t share your hobbies and interests, you have no desire to spend time with that person? That sounds vain and coming from non-Torah values. Do you reject being friends with people who don’t share your X, Y, and Z interests also?
sheinMemberfedex: Who are you kidding? Guys don’t reject larger girls because “it’s unhealthy”. They rejected them because of vanity and beauty. Otherwise, why do you not have the same phenomena of girls rejecting fat guys (which is a far far lesser issue than the reverse).
sheinMemberYou can much better develop yourself spiritually and emotionally while married than before.

sheinMemberMarriage is not about marrying someone who has interests X, Y, and Z like yourself. Marrying is about building a bayis neemen byisroel that will be a Torah home serving Hashem. You do not need to share the same general interests with your spouse to do so.
sheinMemberim confused.

sheinMemberIt is a legitimate question as to why a person is not married yet, if he is older. He is obligated to get married.

why aren’t the Lakewood rabbeim insisting that guys only date girls within a certain age range?
Because they prefer to recommend, rather than insist; why make a “gezeira” which many won’t follow (they’re not Chaza”l to make a gezeira anyway).
Where have the R”Y in Lakewood made a recommendation that guys only date girls within their age range?? I’ve never seen them recommend this.

If not, then NONE of us will be returning by techiyas hameisim (in our current persona), but we will return as the person we were in our first life.

Both sound interesting. Now let us hear the stories, Shammash.

Ofcourse:
When calculating your “third of Litvish families”, does that include families who married off all their kids and they are now grand-parents and great-grandparents? Does it include newly married couples? Does it include families where all the children are in grade school?
Or did you exclude those families to reach your “third of Litvish families”, and only count families with shidduch-age children?

So should you not first study what tikun olam entails prior to issuing your previous comments on this issue?
Also, since you are justifying your attitude with that the license isn’t the issur (actually the Gemorah says it is an issur to issue the license for this behavior but put that point aside for a moment), you would support reinstating the only recently overturned anti-sodomy laws where the States banned the actual act. Right? Since that would outlaw the actual issur, you must have opposed the Supreme Court’s 2003 decision overturning the sodomy laws.

Allowing this license, further legitimizes this perversion. I doubt your Rosh Yeshiva agrees with your nonchalant attitude of not caring about the morality. What about Tikun Haolam, if nothing else? You don’t care if the goyim violate the sheva mitzvos? No problem with legalized abortion? Do you have a problem with legalizing murder? Issuing a toeiva license is specifically prohibited for goyim according to the gemorah.

(And there is no secular law problem with it as long as you don’t register more than one secular marriage.) BTW, the Vilna Gaon was also in favor of polygamy and said he would have liked to reintroduce it if he had the time to convince all the communities of its benefits.
