aries: Rav Shmuel and Rabbi Lamm respect each other? Are you just guessing about that?
sheinMemberIf its a money issue it can easily be prevented by paying.
sheinMemberA big fear anyone with younger teenaged friends has is that they will be falsely accused of abuse if they give their friend an innocent hug or something (or even for no reason). Which is why unfortunately many people are reluctant or refuse to have such young friends even though it would be nice for both of them.
sheinMemberSo can the mods commit to either clear the queue of pending posts up to the time they make any new posts (as a mod) or alternatively either not post if they are not ready to clear the queue or post under a non-mod screen name?
sheinMemberThe Sefardic Gedolim, Rabbonim, and Bnei Torah changed to it because today it is the uniform of Bnei Torah.
sheinMemberSo the Yeshivos were still in operation when Rashi was alive.

sheinMembermsseeker: I still think you would be the best rep for the UO. Regarding your reason #1 above in declining, your opponent wouldn’t be that either.

August 10, 2011 5:01 am at 5:01 am in reply to: Levi Aron Wasn't Religious – Ate Non-Kosher (McDonalds) #796093sheinMemberThat’s true aries, but what incentive does he have to plead guilty?
sheinMemberI think they should use live bullets.
August 10, 2011 4:33 am at 4:33 am in reply to: Chofetz Chaim Heritage presentation this year #796317sheinMemberThey wouldn’t lose any money if they now sell the DVD, since Tisha B’Av is over and no one else will be paying to watch it in person.
BTW, how much did the audio-only CD cost today? And how much did the presentation cost to attend in person?
Which DVD has acapella music?
sheinMemberI think Moderator 80 is another highly qualified candidate to represent the UO. I don’t think he would accept the nomination though due to his humility.
sheinMemberI think a one-on-one has a lot of merit, as the OP suggested. A free-for-all where anyone can debate is basically what we have with every thread.
sheinMemberNope.
sheinMemberI nominate msseeker as the UO representative.

sheinMemberOffer to fully pay for the burial.
sheinMemberYou are not being clear. What are you saying?
August 10, 2011 2:53 am at 2:53 am in reply to: Chofetz Chaim Heritage presentation this year #796314sheinMemberOh, so they sold the full audio on CD at today’s presentation? How much did it cost? And how much did the presentation cost to attend in person?
And what was shown at the presentation? Any historical video footage? Who spoke? And what were the subjects being discussed?
August 10, 2011 2:43 am at 2:43 am in reply to: Chofetz Chaim Heritage presentation this year #796312sheinMemberWhat’s the difference if it’s on CD or DVD?
sheinMemberWhat are you afraid of deiyezooger?

sheinMemberalways runs with scissors fast:
Your children sound and are acting totally normally and like… children.
sheinMemberDo you do that Yom Kippur too?
sheinMemberIf they plan to post without modding the pending stuff, perhaps an idea is to post under a non-mod screen name so it doesn’t go up immediately and mess up readers keeping track of where they are up to in a thread.
August 10, 2011 12:18 am at 12:18 am in reply to: In honor of Tisha B'av. What you respect about… #1165107sheinMemberI respect all frum Yidden.
I respect people who kept the Torah and all the mitzvos all their lives.
sheinMemberThe worst part is when a mod is busy posting while not modding the pending stuff.
And what’s even worse, is when they finally do approve the pending stuff, it appears above their own posts which people already read causing some people to not read the regular posters older posts since they already read the mods newer posts and assume they already read everything above it.
At least if a mod posts in a thread, with their posts going up immediately, they should first approve (or decline) any pending posts made before them.
I hear. The thing is, that maybe sometimes they just log on quickly and post without even looking at the queue. It is a different part of the site.

August 9, 2011 10:35 pm at 10:35 pm in reply to: Levi Aron Wasn't Religious – Ate Non-Kosher (McDonalds) #796090sheinMemberWhy would he plead guilty if he’s going to get life in jail anyways?
sheinMemberIt’s not a segula. It’s just a convenience that frequently occurs.
sheinMemberI thought stillborn was like how aries2756 described it above. Death during childbirth.
A stillborn is much much harder for the parents than a miscarriage.

You’re KIDDING zhavasdad, are you not!?!?
sheinMemberThe Torah lists the schar for the mitzvah of Kibud Av V’Eim.

sheinMemberThat idea would make it illegal to be a casual or infrequent cyclist. It would make it too expensive to ride a bike infrequently, since it wouldn’t be worth registering a bike and having insurance to ride a bike a couple times a year.
sheinMemberIf she can cancel the second date, he can cancel the second date just as well.
sheinMemberadorable, I just read the previous page of this thread, and I’m very concerned with your being friends with a married guy but excusing it that his wife is cheating too. This is very dangerous for both of you, and you should seek counsel from wiser people before you get deep into big trouble.
sheinMemberIn NYC, in all 5 boroughs, there are many designated bike paths.

What you respect about… #1165090sheinMemberI respect Kollel yungerleit for choosing a life of full-time Torah – and many of them giving up the worldly and monetary comforts they could have otherwise achieved for the spiritual growth that is worth so much more (even if it is hard to always realize.)
August 9, 2011 6:15 pm at 6:15 pm in reply to: In honor of Tisha B'av. What you respect about… #1165088sheinMemberI respect Talmidei Chachomim for all their Torah learning that keeps Klal Yisroel safe and going.
I respect Rabbonim for all their kochos night and day they put into helping Yidden.

sheinMemberThat may be true, but still doesn’t address my comment.
sheinMemberWhen did the Yeshivos in Sura and Pumbedisa close?
sheinMemberIs cycling on the roads with cars safe? I hear of many accidents involving cyclists that it gives one a shudder to think of cycling with cars.

sheinMemberI agree with you in a sense, if the first date turns out to be a bust where you know it isn’t going to work, what’s the point of going on another date?
sheinMemberzahavasdad: What’s the difference between the Rebbe from Belz being known as the Belzer Rebbe or the Rebbe from Ger being known as the Gerrer Rebbe, and the Rebbe from Boston being known as the Bostoner Rebbe?
sheinMemberdont know for sure but the rumor going around Moderator Hall is that hg reported oomis to the boss for some serious grammatical transgressions.
Don’t such infractions typically result in a public berating?
