Sender AvMember
Josh, I was thinking the same thing. I think that Joseph is a moderator. Mods, what do you think(admit)?
Incorrect
Sender AvMemberThanks for that disgusting remark. Like I said there maybe nothing to it, but then again there may be. We always thought it was interesting and kind of inspiring(like a closeness to Hashem). I also dont like the fact that you compared my Bubbie A’H to a grilled cheese.
Sender AvMemberThis is starting to remind me of Arthur Millers “The Crucible” Witch…witch. Anyway I was just going to say this is getting kind of ridiculous…until I saw the “eating dairy out” thread. That was clearly a made-up situation. May I suggest ignoring such obvious posts that are made by (you know who(s)) or closing them right away?
Sender AvMemberbump..bump…( I need more opinions)
Sender AvMemberAvraham , good point. Kapusta, I have not been here that long (I have been reading a while) and have not been able to tell that you were a female from your posts yet. I dont know why I associate the name Kapusta with a male. Maybe it was the * *s?
Sender AvMemberCharlie, dont you want to laugh while you are down there?
Sender AvMemberPopa, what kind of consequences?
Obvious, mewho referred to the rabbi as a “she”.
Sender AvMemberwow mewho…I would never have guessed if you would not have told me. I mean the beard and deep voice really fooled me. I guess its a good thing I sometimes dont shake his/her hand.
Sender AvMemberChicken Liver????? Chas V’Shalom!
…”Where’s the beef???”
Sender AvMemberChofetz Chaim…it makes me think of the Anamaniacs.
Sender AvMemberAlways here…are you sure that the reason that you always agree with Oomis is because you might be infected with Josephitis and may be Oomis??? Just a thought(and a joke…for those who have no sense of humor).
Sender AvMemberWe never grind the liver, we always grate it. We like that consistancy better(more chopped than spread)(i.e. the real stuff. To make live you need to be sure you have everything separate. You need a broiling pan, a liver fork, a liver knife, and a dish brush to wash these things with.
Salt both sides of the liver with kosher salt. Put oven on broil and broil each side of liver for about 8 minutes. Remove from oven a let cool. Grate into bowl.
Boil Hard Boiled Eggs(about 4-5 per piece of liver(should be same amount or more egg than liver(depending on how strong you want the taste). Peel and grate into liver mixture.
Saute 1-1/2 -2 onions, depending on amount of liver in a lot of oil(you will use this for the liver). Add onions and oil into liver and eggs and mix well. Salt and pepper to taste.
Here are my dads measurements:
1/2 pound liver
1/2 pound boiled eggs(about 4)
1/2 pound sauteed onions
oil
Sender AvMemberI was just speaking with my father about this the other day. He sneezed while driving and I asked “do you ever think there was a car accident cased by a sneeze”?
Also for Shabbos: When you dont drive…drink!
Sender AvMember….and as many couches or office chairs that would seem to be occupied spending time in the coffee room, there is really but a few(or one?) chair(s)….for they all belong to the mysterious and seclusive Joseph who lives in….
Sender AvMemberI havent been here that long…think of something good for me…how about “barely here”.
Sender AvMemberOnce upon a time in cyberspace…Jewish cyberspace that is…..(finish the story)…….
Sender AvMemberGabboim, you mean they had the nerve NOT to cast you as Joseph???? That was a mistake. I’m sure you would play the part extremely well. 😉
Sender AvMemberSteven Speilberg has agreed to direct the movie.
His mother will cook the food for all the actors.
Sender AvMemberI’m sorry. We’ve already casted Oomis.
Sender AvMemberKapusta is a woman?
Sender AvMemberI hope this is a joke live my movie thread??
Sender AvMemberNo worries RB, I got it. I am just being defensive because I am worried of my movie idea being stolen and there goes my big$$$$…everyone is a suspect.
The Goq, are you sure you are prepared to try out for the role???
Now, who wants to play the part of Joseph?
Sender AvMemberNo RB, not Joseph. You’ll have to take my word for it though because I have no way of proving it to you. I dont see how I am speaking more about Joseph than anyone else(Just because I started another thread that mentioned him?) The story just happened to form in my mind from all the talk and I thought I would share it. Thats all.
Sender AvMemberI know I just made a post referencing Joseph, but maybe I should not have. I was just thinking, could our discussion be considered cyber bullying? If he is “troubled” and that is the reason he does this, could what we are doing hurt him?
January 14, 2011 12:35 am at 12:35 am in reply to: Pastrami over Rice for Shabbos Dinner Appetizer #727883Sender AvMemberI was talking about putting it on Before Shabbos for the evening seudah. Some people say you can use the “un”blech and place food with liquid on them on Shabbos. I know many poskim do not permit these. Personally, I do not hold by them and they seem to be huge loophole for permitting this type of activity.
January 13, 2011 9:17 pm at 9:17 pm in reply to: Pastrami over Rice for Shabbos Dinner Appetizer #727870Sender AvMemberNachas, It does not have to be chicken flavored. That is just what I made it with and it was really good so thats what I recommend, but you can use any kind of Rice. The box cost $1.09.
s2021, its really good. I had to saute the pastrami (not too much) to let it get slightly crisp(so it was kind of taste candied). It softens up on the blech. My dad tried some cold and thought it was going to be horrible but was surprised on Shabbos at how delicious it was.
Sender AvMemberWolf, didnt she use to? I remember that screename from somewhere.
Eclipse, you are hilarious. LOL funny!
Sender AvMemberMB,It’s okay. I still think you are intelligent.
Sender AvMemberThis thread made me think : is Motts with a triangle k acceptable? I purchased it by accident and put it in the fridge(cant take it back). I think its ok, but I am not sure. Anyone here know before I ask a rav?
Sender AvMembervisa, amex,mastercharge.
Sender AvMemberAlways here, I was also surprised. I wonder what could have inspired the thread?
Sender AvMemberI have the solution. Charge $ for every additional screename coming from the same IP address! Although I do know that Myname613 is coming from the same as me and most likley Wolf and Eees considering they are married. We’ll fine tune it as we figure it out.*
* a joke(for anyone unintelligent enough to get it)**
**also a joke
Sender AvMemberMaybe he(If he is such) is a bunch of siblings????
January 13, 2011 4:19 am at 4:19 am in reply to: Most Courteous Place To Shop At:Praise And You'll See More Of It #728797Sender AvMemberLakewood? I guess Shoprite is it.
Sender AvMemberHow do we know that Wolf and Kapusta are not really Joseph or TMB?(Joseph is from before my time). How do we know I am not Joseph, or you? It’s really scary when you think about. We might all be having an identity crisis.
IP addresses
January 13, 2011 4:08 am at 4:08 am in reply to: Is there an inyin that your zivug should look like you? #728621Sender AvMemberI also think people tend to think this more once (G-D willing) the kids are born and they resemble both parents, and then you think, hey the parents look a little alike.
Sender AvMemberdirty trick…bump up!!!
January 13, 2011 3:50 am at 3:50 am in reply to: Is there an inyin that your zivug should look like you? #728618Sender AvMemberNO. Its like people and there dogs. You only start to look alike once you are together so long. 😉
Sender AvMemberI say the same. I am doing well. Thank G-D.
Sender AvMemberAlways Here, I think you would save yourself a lot of time if you skipped the abbreviations. Always “you gots some splanin’ to do”
Sender AvMemberEclipse, you are right(unfortunately). I remember hearing rabbi Shchafer of “the Shmuz” talking about bumper stickers. He said in the 70s they had bumper stickers that said “Looking for it”, then they came out with “I found it” and then “Not even looking for it” all referring to Hashem.
Mr.80, what do you mean it lost meaning? I chose to say Thank G-D over Baruch Hashem because I speak with a lot non -religious and a lot of non-Jews (as we all do) and it is hard for me to interchange and have to think which to say.
I always find it funny when people say “Thank(s) G-D”. What happens if they mess up and put the ‘s’ after G-D? Avodah Zarah?
Sender AvMemberWe must realize that talking about the situation does not make anything better but that we actually need to take steps ourselves to keep this from spreading further. And it is not only goyim that are left feeling this way. I myself am (as I assume are all if not most of you) a frum Jew and was left thinking about this 2 years ago when I was in Miami Beach over Shabbos. It was over NY winter break and everything was packed. A woman was coming out of the grocery store with her hands wrapped around her paper bags. Being a polite southern boy I held the door open for her. She said thank you (looking at me like I was a nut). She continued walking then turned around and asked “Where are you from?” I said “XYZ southern city”. She said “Ohhh…” and kept on walking. She obviously deals with yidden who dont even show they fellow Jew any derech eretz. Thank G-D where I live(it is getting a little larger here and things changing[unfortunately]), all if not most of the Shul, kollel, and dayschool rabbis and parents do a good job impressing upon children how a Jews should conduct themselves.
January 12, 2011 8:40 pm at 8:40 pm in reply to: Most Courteous Place To Shop At:Praise And You'll See More Of It #728789Sender AvMemberI’m not in NY or anywhere in the north but was there this summer. I would have to say Pomegranate was great. In the Five Towns at I think it was Supersol? or Gourmet Glatt? I think Supersol, they were really nice and gave us free sample of Sable fish $$$$$ in the fish department. If anyone is down south Publix grocery chains are the most courteous( the fact that employees are part owners may have something to do with that).
Sender AvMemberICOT, do people still call it a Frigidaire? My great grandmother I was told use to do that( she would also call it the icebox).People commonly call cotton swabs Q-tips. Also all or most cereals are trademarked by their respected companies. For example the kellogs and store brand version of cheerios are almost always referred to as that name which is a trademark of General Mills.
January 12, 2011 8:29 pm at 8:29 pm in reply to: Pastrami over Rice for Shabbos Dinner Appetizer #727858Sender AvMemberThanks Ima, it is. OTB, let me know how that turns out if you try it. It sounds a little sweet to me. The brown mustard kind of tones down the grape jelly(its still sweet) but apricot has a distinct taste, but it is still worth trying.
January 12, 2011 2:28 pm at 2:28 pm in reply to: Pastrami over Rice for Shabbos Dinner Appetizer #727855Sender AvMemberoomis, it should be mostly grape jelly(like 3/4 cup) and about 1/3-1/3 cup brown sugar(depending on how sweet you want it). The brown mustard(I used spicy) just gives it a little kick and evens out the sweetness. I just squeezed the bottle in the mixture a couple of times(not too much). They next time I make it I will Bli Neder try to figure out the measurements.
Sender AvMemberGabboim, I think she is trying to say that she has seen it for herself as well and that the goyim see it too, and it is the impression that is left with them. She is not basing off just what she heard.
January 12, 2011 4:20 am at 4:20 am in reply to: Pastrami over Rice for Shabbos Dinner Appetizer #727852Sender AvMemberNo offense taken, but you dont know what you are missing. Everyone loved it.
Sender AvMemberI think a lot of people, and as (from your story and our experiences) frum people too/especially do not really understand what it means to be a “Chosen” people. We need to act(myself included) like what we ‘chosen’ to act like and not feel like we are more important than everyone else, although our mission in life may be.Unfortunately it seems that too many Jews think that we can do whatever we want because we are “tight” with Hashem and it does not really matter what others (goyim or the non-frum )think, because ‘who are they?’
I am from a BT family(they became so before I was born)and I try to act in a proper(G-D fearing) manner when near non-Frum relatives because they are under the impression that all frum Jews act in the manner you described above. The best way to fight it is to disprove it.
One thing I may suggest to help the ‘fight’: say hello to goyim or the non religious when walking to shul or wherever. It makes a real difference.
Sender AvMemberNot who I mean at all. Who I am speaking about is not as well known as the Schneersons(did I spell that right?) Did she also do this? I would name her but if I did I would give away my location.
