Thanks, but you didn’t really answer the question.
October 2, 2016 1:56 pm at 1:56 pm in reply to: Political correctness is a Reflublican Myth #1184746screwdriverdelightParticipantPeople might say the mi shebeirach, but no one can omit it. It’s not a standard part of the text about which you could call not saying it an “ommission.”
screwdriverdelightParticipantIT DOES NOT
screwdriverdelightParticipantDaasYochid no longer links to the kosher haircut.
screwdriverdelightParticipantDaasYochid went from “a singular mind” to nothing at all.
screwdriverdelightParticipantAs I have said from the very beginning, the charges against him may have been fraudulent.
screwdriverdelightParticipantAviK, Hillary had Basseley Nakoula imprisoned after the Benghazi attack for posting a video called Innocence of Muslims on YouTube.
screwdriverdelightParticipantand abusing her position by wrongfully imprisoning someone, completely ignoring the first amendment, in order to protect her image.
screwdriverdelightParticipantWhy is it that only candidates from a major party make it?
screwdriverdelightParticipantThanks, but there aren’t too many s’farim there, and the few that are there look like they’re on sale, not exchange.
Any other ideas?
screwdriverdelightParticipantMost honest answer award goes to…
scared driver delight
Wow, you’re gullible.
screwdriverdelightParticipantTo talk, I guess. I like to spread the wealth, and grace everyone with my opinions.
screwdriverdelightParticipantthe g’mara often uses the word ???? as masculine.
For example, gittin 12b- ???? ??? ???? ????? ???? ??? ??? ??????
screwdriverdelightParticipantI get you, mod, although I specifically took that example because it’s the liberals’ cardinal sin.
Let’s try again.
nfgo and CTLawyer, would you agree that assault should be legalized? If you think it’s wrong, you don’t have to assault anyone yourselves, but at least let it be legal for those who want it.
screwdriverdelightParticipantAs for halacha requiring Jews who own businesses to give preference to hiring Jews. Dina Malcusa Dina.
DDD isn’t m’chayyeiv you to hire/not hire anyone.
If you choose to live in the USA you agree to abide by the laws. This isn’t Tzarist Russia or the USSR where Jews were kept in by force. If you don’t like the laws, work to change them through the political system or leave.
Besides for your logic, or lack thereof, isn’t the subject at hand which of the two philosophies–liberalism or conservatism–are better? In which case, that response to Avi K, who was criticizing certain laws, was either irrelevant or inadequate, or both.
No one’s forcing you to post in the coffee room. If you don’t like the posts, either get the mods to delete them, or leave.
screwdriverdelightParticipantI don’t want any part of a gay marriage for myself, BUT I support extending civil rights and opportunities to all US citizens without discriminating on the basis of sexual preferences. Civil marriage is a contract between 2 adults and it gives certain tax and other benefits. It has nothing to do with religious marriage and the accompanying rules.
It has nothing to do with marriage, either.
screwdriverdelightParticipantI am appalled by CTlawyer and nfgo’s statements.
screwdriverdelightParticipantIf you live in NY, or in most states, or in any state most of the time, voting for anyone–be it Rep or Dem–won’t effect anything either.
May 10, 2016 4:09 am at 4:09 am in reply to: Family Traditions that are more widespread than you think #1151412screwdriverdelightParticipantMy family tradition was to not wear a tallis before marriage and I always thought it was strange, but I heard of other people who have the same tradition.
screwdriverdelightParticipantWhat does ??”? stand for?
screwdriverdelightParticipantGosh, no one recognizes jokes anymore?
screwdriverdelightParticipantYou should definitely wear a tallis. There’s nothing wrong with unmarried boys wearing a tallis (there’salready at least one thread about the subject, which I’m too lazy to link,) By all means, wear a tallis, and be zoche to all the blessings that come from it.
As an aside, it would be best if you can meet an Orthodox rabbi who can guide you. Also better if you can find an Orthodox shul to daven in.
screwdriverdelightParticipantHowever, if one is really angry, one votes against a party that is stupid enough to choose Mr. Drumpf. Such a party- and its voters- don’t deserve to be in power-ever.
Some would say the same about Her Royal Majesty and her subjects, the Democrats.
Mr. Drumpf is the most unqualified and dangerous man to run for President.
Some would say the same about Her Royal Majesty.
Check out what he said yesterday about the national debt and US Securities.
Check out what she said–and remember it, because whatever she says is a once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity. No two times are ever the same.
If he ever gets o the White House,he will cost this nation trillions of dollars in extra interest costs and drive the reputation of the United States into the mud. We would be just like Greece.
Some would say the same about Her Royal Majesty.
screwdriverdelightParticipantscrewdriverdelightParticipantAbout 2 months ago, I was talking to someone and he commented that as things stand, it looks like it will be Trump vs. Her Majesty, and pointed out the irony of it: Democrats are often referred to as the “Mother” while Republicans are the “Father.” Now, we’ll actually have a mother democrat vs. a father republican. Furthermore, Trump will likely attack Her Majesty about all the scandals, all of which are true and factual. Clinton will likely say that Trump is a bully and “unfit”, etc. Hence, Trump will be dealing with fact, while Her Majesty will be spewing emotions, characteristic of their genderal roles, so all in all we’ll have a real Mother-Father fight.
Looking at the exchange between dovrosenbaum and ROB, I think it’s living up to his prediction.
May 6, 2016 4:15 pm at 4:15 pm in reply to: What to do (law school question) VERY IMPORTANT #1152868screwdriverdelightParticipantakuperma, that sounds great…mind sharing what it is that you do?
screwdriverdelightParticipantThat can’t have been his reasoning, because he already said he wouldn’t be Trump’s running mate.
I like Cruz, and sure hope he’s not Trump’s running mate. It would be very hypocritical if he runs alongside trump, and it’s not like if he’s on the ticket Trump stands a better chance against Her Royal Majesty.
screwdriverdelightParticipantThey didn’t have a path to the nomination before India, either. What they had was a path to stop Trump, and Kasich inexplicably gave up.
screwdriverdelightParticipantCA, why would you quote it b’sheim R’ Moshe is it’s b’feirush a g’mara?
screwdriverdelightParticipantca, the g’mara is p’sachim 39a says that about chazeres.
screwdriverdelightParticipantBut it’s too bitter for salad.
screwdriverdelightParticipantI always thought it was strange that people put romaine lettuce in salad.
screwdriverdelightParticipantmelech cholam doesn’t mean dreamer of the world.
(I don’t think cholam is a word at all, for that matter.)
screwdriverdelightParticipantWomen making havdalah may be a problem.
screwdriverdelightParticipantIt’s “Ka’eyleh,” not “Ka’eylah”.

screwdriverdelightParticipantcharliehall, ‘??? brings the ??????, the ??”? and ????? bring it from the ???????.
We don’t usually pasken by Toseftas that contradict an explicit Mishnah,
there isn’t any explicit ???? regarding this; there’s at mosst a ???? in ????? (explaining a ????) which the above ??????? reconcile with the ??”?’s position.
especially when there is an unopposed Bavli that supports the Mishnah
if you’re referring to the ‘?? in ?????, it doesn’t say anything explicitly; the ????? actually brings an alternative ????? which supports the ??”?’s position.
Even ?????? that there is an explicit ???? not like the ??”?, the legend about a 3rd ????? during the talmudic era will do nothing to resolve his position.

Neither can I.
screwdriverdelightParticipant1.4: No proof. Nor any real way to prove it. It’s not that there is a third Gemara. It’s that there was a third major Yeshiva that is more Yerushalmi-based than Bavli-based. It has no proof. It’s just a theory that answers a lot of questions.
A lot of unasked questions.
screwdriverdelightParticipantSam2, the bahag’s source is the y’rushalmi.
screwdriverdelightParticipantDY, which poskim waited 3 hours?
charliehall, the bahag’s source is the y’rushalmi.
screwdriverdelightParticipantHow? The Rama says that 1 hr is ok.
Why? is a better question.
There’s actually a letter from R’ Hirsh advising they wait 6 hrs.
screwdriverdelightParticipantThere are no poskim who say to wait three hours.
screwdriverdelightParticipantsam2, any examples of Ashkenazi p’sakim that don’t make according to the g’mara?
