8. It should say when the thread was started.

I must advise you against joining the CR, as it is quite addictive. Meet the posters: Comlink-x you met already, and rest assured, that unless s/he’s kicked out again, you’ll meet again very shortly.
If Popa Bar Aba says something nice, you probably misread the post.
If Letakien Girl says something not nice, you definitely misread it.
Patur Aval Assur is worth talking to, if you have time and patience to read through half a library.
Lamed Vov Tzaddik is AWL but should he return, I’m sure you’ll find his posts both inspiring and thought provoking.
RebYidd23 usually has excellent observations and irrefutable arguments. Only respond on his threads if you can hold your ground firmly and only when backed by proper research and argumentation.
I could go on, but I don’t want to take away from the thrill of meeting new posters.
Develop your style; cynicism is the rage in the CR, but you’re free to be optimistic, factual, troll-like, or whatever suits you best.
Certain posters have signatures, trademark emoticons or phrases. Don’t get tempted to join them.
Don’t bother trying to talk to the mods; most likely they won’t respond.
Keep your posts short; nobody’s interested in long ones.
Remember that whatever you say, everyone else will either ignore or disagree. I wish you luck.
screwdriverdelightParticipantI started a thread last night which didn’t make it, plus a post today. I am bewildered about both, as neither broke any rules.
screwdriverdelightParticipantwhy is tehillim different?
screwdriverdelightParticipantI forgot to mention that threads should be able to be in more than one section.
screwdriverdelightParticipantI know, it’s weird, but somehow there are people who know whom everyone is a gilgul of. And who all 36+ lamed vov tzadikim are. And why Hashem brings certain tzaros upon us. And why Chanukkah sometimes falls out on Par’shas Mikeitz.
screwdriverdelightParticipantOh, I’m slow. Forget about the Comlink-x question.
screwdriverdelightParticipantAlso from lips there are a few obvious ones (nodeh lishimcha, yid yid voos dain bord, more that I can’t think of right now.)
from mbd, kulom ahuvim, omar r’ akiva,
from ben zion shenker, kol tzohola, hinei keil
from the rebbe, niggun neshoma, boi beshalom if you crank it up,
from atik yomin: oid yishoma, yom zeh mecuubad, yom shabbason, or do these all count as having been played 24/7? [More like 52/lifetime]
shloime getner: nissim, baruch she’amar, ein keiloheinu
from fried, ein keiloheinu, l’chayim yerushalayim, Dance!,
screwdriverdelightParticipantKarahod! (Remember that?)
screwdriverdelightParticipantDon’t deal with labels. Deal with your passion.
screwdriverdelightParticipantCan we have the answer? What was chush biroishoy’s username in the previous lifetime? And for that matter, what was Comlink-x’s?
And welcome back, CIJ.
screwdriverdelightParticipantThere is so much Torah learning, a lot remains lacking in terms of emunah and bitachon. Also the quality of Torah learning is a far cry from what it should be.
December 19, 2014 5:37 pm at 5:37 pm in reply to: Why is everybody anti anti-vaccine theories, a dissertation #1100436screwdriverdelightParticipantThe Holocaust denials are perpetuated by anti-semites who are not interested in the truth; they know the truth and choose to ignore it. Debating their point would be counter-intuitive. Would an ignoramus come along and innocently ask to be proven that the Holocaust happened, then there is no reason not to reason with him, to show all the books and eyewitness accounts testifying to the holocaust.
Anti-vaccinationers, whoever the original may have been [and lost his medical license–like huge duh no kidding; that doesn’t reflect at all on whether or not he was correct], are now innocent people thirsting for truth and yearning to do the right thing for themselves and their children.
screwdriverdelightParticipantHow did this thread end up as both decaf coffee and rants?
screwdriverdelightParticipantNobody throws you out in Brisk. You probably were in Ner Yaakov, a yeshiva which used to be right across the street from Brisk.
Yeah, that makes sense. A lot of Mir’s student body are Neir Ya’kov rejects.
screwdriverdelightParticipantYou got thrown out of Brisk?????????????? By whom????????
screwdriverdelightParticipant“It’s not a delicate rose surrounded by thorns,” ” it’s a beautiful plant that has thorns to protect itself.” Those two statements aren’t contradictory, I guess you mean either that a rose isn’t delicate and/or it’s not surrounded by thorns… and you just decided to be rather wordy and confusing.
“Removing the thorns” “and leaving only the thorns is wrong”. That sounds self contradictory. “The rose and the thorns are one.” That’s “true” if you call a rose thorns. But recall the counsel of William Shakespeare: “A rose by any other name is still a rose.”
screwdriverdelightParticipantDo men even exist? Everyone talks so much about them, whether pro, con, or impartial, but it still hasn’t been proven that there are men.
screwdriverdelightParticipantGrumpy tollster ahead
SLOW–Police Ambush
Delays next two miles–woman in the left lane
screwdriverdelightParticipantIt starts off as once a year, and then it goes to twice, thrice… Before you know it they’ll have twenty birthdays a year. OP is right. We have to put our foot down as soon as a breach, no matter how small, is found. Unexcused absents are unexcusable. It’s our job to put our collective foot down and set reasonable rules.
screwdriverdelightParticipantI don’t mean to be a killjoy or anything, but I think you’re reading the signs wrong.
screwdriverdelightParticipantYou should be able to post on user’s profile
screwdriverdelightParticipantA good hodesh to everyone with tons of freilichkeit, gezunt, un parnossah
November 23, 2014 1:07 am at 1:07 am in reply to: Caution: People in YWN-CR may be lesser than they appear #1043122screwdriverdelightParticipantToo many deleted posts will get you expelled from the CR, so anyone here for a while obviously isn’t too crazy. (Correction: obviously keeps their craziness in check.)
November 23, 2014 1:02 am at 1:02 am in reply to: three thread titles that have nothing to do with their threads #1043358screwdriverdelightParticipantHere’s an interesting phenomenon:
You know that feeling when you meet someone you haven’t seen in ages and it’s hilarious how much they’ve changed, then you meet someone else whom you haven’t seen in ages and it’s hilarious because they didn’t change a bit?
November 16, 2014 3:42 am at 3:42 am in reply to: Is the Coffee Room always less active during the school semester/zman? #1105825screwdriverdelightParticipantCR is dead tonight.
November 16, 2014 3:39 am at 3:39 am in reply to: The freezer is toast!! Yasher koach NASI! #1133393screwdriverdelightParticipant“if they are older than Teves in their 4th year.”
How old is Teves?
screwdriverdelightParticipantObjection! That is an attempt to pry personal information and reach conclusions.
screwdriverdelightParticipantI’d assume MOD means that after mod1097 asked for the subtitle to be changed, it became obvious that s/he didn’t want those incriminating words, i.e. people would realize that it’s not a real mod.
screwdriverdelightParticipanti’m not grasping. You’re saying that only colors originating from a white light gets absorbed, but not if the light is of a different color?
screwdriverdelightParticipantthis gadol has z’chus avos too…
screwdriverdelightParticipantrandomex: I was talking about on foot and if R’ Yaakov didn’t do it, it was probably because of chilul hashem or something. Dina dimalchusa dina refers to monetary laws which are binding in halacha.
screwdriverdelightParticipantAre Americans scared of Dr. Pepper?
November 14, 2014 8:16 pm at 8:16 pm in reply to: Phrases that are offensive to our fellow creatures #1042678screwdriverdelightParticipant“to our fellow creatures”? Reminds me of the even ezra in mishpatim (21:35)

screwdriverdelightParticipantThis (LINK) leads to URL not found.
screwdriverdelightParticipantRebYidd: Hmm. You might have a point
000646: I can’t see what that has to do with the question.
screwdriverdelightParticipantneckties
screwdriverdelightParticipantHow can that be your biggest problem if you don’t even have a subtitle?
November 14, 2014 6:43 am at 6:43 am in reply to: Is the Coffee Room always less active during the school semester/zman? #1105823screwdriverdelightParticipantHalf the people here are teens? I thought half the people here were much older.
screwdriverdelightParticipanti use the cr as a spelcheker if i am ever unsure how too spel a word i somehow fit it in to the post and if it gets aproved i know forsure i speld it rite
November 14, 2014 6:32 am at 6:32 am in reply to: What's the strongest thing you've overcome? #1042647screwdriverdelightParticipanti also overcame quitting smoking. It wasn’t easy; I had really wanted to smoke, but I realized it just wasn’t right and continued smoking.
screwdriverdelightParticipantFunnybone: Out of town is even worse, because they don’t have sidewalks nor proper lighting, so the glare from headlights is worse. (It does help with the noise, though)
Sidi: “Yes, their will still be cars, trucks, buses, emergency vehicles in the streets” Read the fine print. I said these rules do not apply to emergeny vehicles. And Cars, trucks, and busses? Nt-nt. Not in the residential areas. (with certain exceptions, and then at 7 mph which is slow enough not to be dangerous)
And there will deffinitely be stret lights. I have never been blinded by a street lamp.
“And “sometimes” honking can save a life.” So honk.
“First show how you can make normal parking in a normal city. Then you can start figuring out your abnormal city!”
I’m building this city from scratch. I can find ways to build parking spaces. Not coming into a already-congested area. (And I could help out there, as it is. Build double decker streets.)
” (I really don’t want to schlep all my groceries from my assigned parking space 3 blocks from my home when their are empty curbs all the way to my house…)” You’re not paying attention. I said dropping off heavy packages is permitted.
And I didn’t have time to read through something that long excerpt, seeing as it probably bears no relevance, anyway.

October 26, 2014 12:49 am at 12:49 am in reply to: Calling uncles and aunts without using their title #1136700screwdriverdelightParticipantThere’s no mitzvah to show respect to uncles & aunts.
screwdriverdelightParticipantYes, but that’s different than finding it funny.
screwdriverdelightParticipantgolfer, here is another example of my incompetence at correctly conveying my thoughts while posting. My titter was a sardonic response to the title which somehow called people apikorsim yet in the same breath laughing.
