We have a good sense who Hillary Clinton is and who she would surround herself with in office. Trump on the other hand is much harder to read. I would expect him to do what Ross Perot did when we get closer to the general election time in the fall and that is to try to unify the country by bringing in some Dems as aides like Perot did with the late Hamilton Jordan.

That was so clever (and timely). You had me up until the end and then the “obvious” person was replaced with the seasonal alternative.

Today’s NY Times did a feature on Bernie Sander’s Jewish identity written by Joseph Berger which made a few interesting points.

    1) In 1983 as Burlington VT mayor, he participated in the Chanukah menorah lighting with Rabbi Yitchok Raskin and recited the brochos for the second night without guidance.

    2) Attended Talmid Torah at Kingsway Jewish Center in Midwood Brooklyn, where he also had his Bar Mitzvah.

    3) Participated in tashlich this past RH following a speech that he gave at Liberty University in Virginia.

    4) Went back to his father’s old community in Poland outside Kracow in 2013.

“Hashem knows what we need even before we do, and prepares the solutions to our problems even before we become aware of them. However, because He loves us so much, He does not provide the solutions until we ask. Building a relationship with G-d is even more important than obtaining what we want, and Hashem therefore waits for us to cry out to Him and ask Him for help so we can draw closer to Him and build our relationship” ~ Divrei Chizuk

Hi Zahavasdad, Bruno Kreisky was also the leader of Austria during the 70s and early 80s and he always took an antagonistic stance toward the State of Israel during those years. I have lost a lot of faith in my some of our Jewish elected officials, like those who supported the Iran nuclear accord. Even though Chuck Schumer opposed it, his actions demonstrated that his heart was not in it. I always appreciated the way in which Ed Koch displayed his ahavas Yisroel publically and didn’t particularly seem to care who he alienated.

Yeshiva Ateres Shimon will send you a daily email from Rabbi David Ashear on different aspects of emunah that you might enjoy or you can get the first two volumes of his Living Emunah series from Artscroll. Both of them are worth your time.
