purple, if u didn’t want ppl to give their random opinion, diagnoses, thoughts, you realllllly shouldnt ask on a public, anonymois forum. You will get scary answers. Just trust your doctor n stick with him/her!

vm- which of those things don’t you do at home?

Trips- educational ones and 2 fun ones. Of which many opted out because there was a fee. Parties- chanuka, rosh chodesh shvat, shabbaton and graduation. Hang out? In the dorm yes. Don’t highschoolers and post-sem girls, and married women hang out too?

Why is it so camp-like? Maybe a better comparison would be home-like

my sister, mother, sister-in-laws and friends sure didn’t all go to seminary. I did though. One word i’d never compare it to though is camp. Though perhaps some nights at our dorm were just fun fun fun. When we weren’t doing jobs, chores, making supper, settling disagreements, assuaging hurt feelings, and working hard to learn to live with people of opposite backgrounds and personalities.

wiy +1 on the long post

purple- i gotta agree with everyone here. Segulos are not like taking a week’s prescription to get rid of strep. Its an added zchus. Don’t say perek shira with the sole intend of your sister getting engaged. That can also lead you into a trap of writing it off, disappointment, etc. In the right time, she will find her zivug, b’ezras Hashem. It may be tomorrow, it may be in 10 yrs. We cannot know. Yes, Hashem hears your tefillos and He answers. But the answer may be ‘not yet’, and the zchus may go for something else, someone else… If you want an encouragement for this, you can look at it as perhaps for your 40 day cycle, she now has to date 1 less wrong boy.

for math, there’s 2 things to do. 1- make sure you understand the concepts and ideas. 2- practice practice practice. Forget the notes, just keep doing examples. When you get back the homework with the 70, redo it looking at the answer key for help, then redo it again without the key. Thats the best math advice pointers i have… Good luck!

i wouldnt recommend the designed tzitzis. Not everyone uses them.

Unless you’re looking specifically for judaica, any toy, car, construction set, a jewish book. Its a good idea to double check with parents of such young kids if your gift idea would be appreciated. Unless it can be exchanged by them

i dont understand the punishment idea. Motivate them to wake up? If they’re deeply asleep and not morning birdes, threats wont make it suddenly easy for them tp be awake at 7am. If an alarm doesnt break through their conscience, why would a looming threat? Get the school to punish them if they dont generally? Sounds like a recipe for bad feelings to me.

i once tried on a pair of 4” heels. My sister and i contemplated buying them for purim, before we decided it wasnt worth risking a broken ankle. No but seriously. 5”??? Thats like the size of my hand! Thats like looking at the world from a different perspective. And you said you’re tall already so that makes you over 5’10”. How do you walk in 5 inch heels without killing your feet? Doesnt it make your legs sore? Or is there a good solid 2 inch platform in the front. But still, have u ever misstepped in them? I’d be scared of twisting (or worse) an ankle. Or knee…

ah so they have learned to tune out the alarm clock and really do sleep through it? I used to be like that when i was in grade school. I switched alarm clocks every 2 months to one with a different ring. I actually still change my cell phone alarm every coupla months. It really worked for me.

Like haleivi suggested, if you can get them to say something, i will get their brains running. Instead of tiring yourself out, just repeat over n over ‘are you awake? Are yoi awake yet? Are you awake now?’ til they say yes. Note: a mumble is not a yes!

i hated having my blanket pulled off :P. I like the pulling the feet over the edge to position.

You said none of it elicits a response. Is that that they’re ignoring you cuz they want to sleep? Or are they actually totally out to the world? I think it makes a big difference in how you proceed.

About those sharp objects, start with just a finger, will ya? 😉

okay, i’ll start then! Opening the curtains/shades. Sunlight naturally wakes people up.

I know a lot of people splash water on their kids head, so the kids jump outta bed when they hear you coming. Some think it funny, some think it cruel.

Turn on and blast a modeh ani song like they do in camp!

Shake them and call their name. I remember learning somewhere that the best way to wake someone is to call their name, because you calling in essence calling their neshoma to come back down from its singing shira

i wanna disagree with one little thing. I personally dont feel that spelling errors, txt typing, or purist grammar very much reflect personality. Maybe a little little bit, but not very much imo. Do you really use textform to show your personality? I think its more the choice of words than spelling.
