SaysMeMemberhow many female acquaintances of popa’s frequent the CR?

April 14, 2013 6:37 pm at 6:37 pm in reply to: Are there too many seforim being published today #945327SaysMeMembersqueak- and there are more ppl sick because there are more doctors, and more cavities because there are more dentists? (oh wait, thats true, because before that people just died or pulled out their teeth…). And more Jewish schools causes more people to go OTD, and more food= more starvation. Oh and more seforim and translated works means less people are learning! I get it now! Not.
SaysMeMemberwell to A, kids imitate. It works! Even when they’re not being fed.
April 14, 2013 6:22 am at 6:22 am in reply to: Are there too many seforim being published today #945317SaysMeMembersqueak- well, i’m sorry to be a disappointment to you. But i’m used to that n it won’t stop me! Plus i don’t believe that your ‘study’ has been demonstrated. Though perhaps world self esteem has gone way down within the last 50 years, i doubt motivational books are to blame. I’m pretty confident in my internal filter and i do feel like i usually come out with a few good points from every inspirational book i get around to reading. So disappointment or not, i’d take 100 books for $10, even if i only gained 2 pages from each.
SaysMeMemberoh and kumzitz type: di gantze velt
SaysMeMemberhaha, these are great! It’s so good to know i’m not the only one these things happen too!!
Also, when you meet someone and they start asking you qs, but you have to sneeze, so are trying to avoid that funny look on your face, but can’t quite talk either
And had this this week: when you realize after an hour out that your shirt/sweater/coat is misbuttoned
SaysMeMemberthere IS one… If only i could remember the name
April 12, 2013 10:11 pm at 10:11 pm in reply to: Are there too many seforim being published today #945312SaysMeMembersqueak- i got the t shirt. Where do i meet you?

SaysMeMemberIs it tznius to read posts written by female posters? How is it different from kol isha?
April 12, 2013 1:57 am at 1:57 am in reply to: How to tell the Shadchan that the girl's too heavy #946225SaysMeMemberi’m starting to wonder how heavy YOU are…
“Shadchan thinks I’m a great guy and if I tell her the real reason she’ll think I’m shallow, superficial etc.” well, then it’s time to let her see the truth? on a serious note, you don’t need to tell the shadchan why you’re saying no though. unless you think she’ll keep redding 400lb girls to you if you don’t speak up.
SaysMeMemberOOM: doesn’t happen very often that i actually LOL at my computer screen! boy am i glad that’s never happened to me 🙂
April 11, 2013 10:56 pm at 10:56 pm in reply to: Listening to music during sefirah while exercising #944745SaysMeMemberrabbiofberlin- corrolary. Thats a funny typo 🙂
SaysMeMember<nodding, nodding, nodding>. Except the hw one. I save my things properly :).
7. Thinking something is about to fall off the shelf and lunging to save it… Then standing there arm outstretched, looking ridiculous when nothing happens.
8. The half sneeze. ”ah, ahhh, ahhhh, AHHH! <silence>”
9. When your foot slips on the ice, and you do the polka to catch your balance, then see someone staring at you as you continue down the block.
10. Waving to your friend driving by… Oops that wasn’t her.
SaysMeMemberi took a photography course, and most the learning was just reading a book. To learn your basic camera operations, why don’t you go through (or download) the full camera manual?
SaysMeMemberRun! Run! Save yourself n deny it!
SaysMeMemberwelcome hahahaha! Glad you enjoy it n hope you will continue to
SaysMeMemberhaifagirl- cuz halacha differentiates them
pou- to burn calories, or to suppress the desire to bite someone’s head off 🙂
SaysMeMemberRabbi P- i don’t think “all the girls out there” can be put into one box, especially not as the narrow example of your one friend who felt guilty about a look on his wife’s face so decided that meant he had to spend another $3000. I don’t think i’m the only girl in this generation who’d be more than happy with a CZ or a different stone, and i don’t think the majority of girls are more concerned about having the biggest diamond than putting themselves into debt for it.
SaysMeMemberi know a genendel and a shprintza and a yentel. And yentel is a cutie! Though she does goes by her second name 🙂
SaysMeMemberrina, batya, eden, shira, talya, yehudis, yocheved….
You know, there are jewish name books. Check out your local judaica store
SaysMeMemberyou are weird
SaysMeMemberniiiice, that’s a great way to bring the messageto life
SaysMeMemberyes
SaysMeMemberyserbius- i’m not sure how i feel about post-graduation. Though there has usually been enough exposure to have lessened people’s sensitivity to things, which is a loss. I feel more that people IN a non-Jewish college/university fall/struggle while there, though many do therefore strengthen themselves either when they realize or after the fact.
SaysMeMemberthanks health. I don’t like taking high doses generally, but i just might! Or the aleve- does aleve help fever too?
SaysMeMemberi did get tested and take D supplements 🙂
SaysMeMembermunchkin cards are YUCK!
OOM and Sam2, ur listing all my bro’s faves.
No one mentioned Quirkle yet- that’s fun
SaysMeMemberif it took that much longer to bake, you probably overmixed it
SaysMeMemberthanks oom, amein!
SaysMeMemberi know it’s normal, but i still want to relieve the pain. I am sleeping a lot, and making sure to get lots of fluids, so looking for ideas. Advil isn’t working for me. I will try heat but that will only work for my back, but wont help my super sore legs.
Thanks for the advice though!
SaysMeMemberi wonder though, if someone asked a rav or gadol who went through the current university system, if they’d say they were unaffected, and hadn’t lost any part of their frumkeit, sensitivity, strength, through their years there. It would surprise me if they said it hadn’t affected them at all.
SaysMeMemberyou make it sound like weight is the only reason people can’t find a shidduch…
When people ask someone’s size, i don’t answer. I’ve said on a previous thread, there are better ways of answering, especially since dresssize and appearance don’t often directly connect. Build and height play in too.
I do think any shadchan(te) who puts down a girl or boy for their size should be put in their place, and not be allowed to work in a sensitive area like shidduchim, for which they clearly lack tact and sensitivity.
SaysMeMemberit was worth the wait. My good friend’s parent was just hospitalized and it’s scary… Makes you think
SaysMeMembericot- beautiful piece. Thanks for creating the mindset
SaysMeMemberthe entire focus of dance machine is the music though. Its not enhancing the exercise, its the basis of it, so this might be different from Rav Belsky’s psak
SaysMeMemberthanks for the bump reminder goq!!
:-]
SaysMeMemberso you had one teacher who went on defense cuz she didn’t know how to answer or maybe what to make of your question. And you can’t really include the non-jewish pro-donor teacher in your judgement of your school in its bais yaakov aspect.
You had a bad experience with someone somehow telling you you wouldnt succeed in something, if i understood correctly. But because of a few teachers who you didn’t get along with, and because of a single girl in a big school who didn’t mesh with her particular school and then had struggles which may or may not have had a connection to her schooling, you are saying that bais yaakovs brainwash negativity, low self esteem, that deviating will cause failure… But that’s not true.
SaysMeMemberwhat you posted, ”i wont ever stop smiling cuz…” i find rly encouraging, powerful even. So i meant, when i get down n post sad emotions in the thread ‘attn poetry people’, just remind me of that line, and it’ll help me to smile
SaysMeMemberyou’re so positive 🙂 … remind me that line about smiles when i need it in the poetry thread
SaysMeMemberaugh, i was brainwashed in bais yaakov!! They told me to dress b’tznius and with taste, and to be put together! They ingrained in me that tefilla is soo important and that it’s really for my benefit! They drilled into me to be machshiv Torah, to the point that I will never put down a gadol even! They even made me shy away from shmoozing with non-Jews and i ‘naturally’ have acted that way in college and work! They even heavily stressed the role a bas yisroel plays in her life, her future family, and klal yisroel, with the way she behaves, dresses, and her actions! (gasp!!)
yes, i’m kidding around. But brainwashing is an extreme word. And even if there are some teachers in some schools who DO push push push a full-time learning kollel lifestyle forever as the ultimate way of life, it’s by no means all teachers in all schools.
SaysMeMembergamanit- there’s a big difference between someone telling you you could use a single (or 2) dress sizes, and thinking you are overweight. but i agree its not always healthy to lose weight.
SaysMeMembergamanit- by who???? Thats disgusting, crazy, ridiculous.. Ok i’ll stop ranting. I guess it depends also on how every individual holds their weight, but still. And then people wonder why eating disorders and unhealthy diets invade our communities…
