November 7, 2014 2:03 pm at 2:03 pm in reply to: NYers, REMINDER: SPEED LIMIT CHANGE TODAY! #1040168SayIDidIt™ParticipantThat’s the point, no?
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™ParticipantBelive me, I know what you mean! I completely stopped once and then started again… It’s an ongoing battle but we can beat it!
Let’s all try this Shabbos to strengthen our Kedushas Shabbos and not bite/peel our nails/lips and also try not to get angry – even once!
????? ??? ???? ???!
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™ParticipantHi everyone! I am proud to announce that I am on my 9th day straight with out biting my nails!
LG, SL and sm: how’s it going by you?
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™Participantivory, the point of my Q was to get LVT to admit to a gender. After seeing another post from him on a different thread, I got sick and tired of these trolls and it doesn’t really matter what s/he is.
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™Participantlamud vov tzadik
temporarily out of hiding
I am bp yid
—
And who else?
Is it also bp yidd’s birthday? And is he also pregnant and getting married to a girl who is a tom-boy who doesn’t like jewelery who you were getting married to a year ago?
The trolling on the CR is really getting to me. I may need to take a break…
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™ParticipantLVT, why don’t you like wearing a hat? On the street or also b by davening? Talis is OK by Shachris but what about Mincha and Marriv?

November 2, 2014 11:06 pm at 11:06 pm in reply to: Does anyone have the lyrics to this song? #1039131SayIDidIt™ParticipantDoes it bother anyone when words are thrown in to a song that make no sense, but just to rhyme?
Ex:
You’re very special Mother Sarah
I will tell you why
I often think about you with a half an open eye
What does half an open eye have to do with anything?
Or (Journeys 4, Man From Vilna):
He said “no simcha is a burden, though I miss my dear late wife”
And then he shared with me a story that has changed my view of life.
Where does missing his dear late wife fit in? (You could come up with a reason here, but I still feel it is there as filler words)
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™ParticipantNo need to admit. We are not that dumb.
Have fun trolling (somewhere else…)
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™ParticipantSyag:
When I would bite my nails, instead of saying, “oish, I shouldn’t have done that” I would say, “I can’t believe I was Michael Shabbos”. That made a deeper imprint on my subconscious, and eventually would trigger my consciousness when I was about to do it. When I think about it as nail biting, it doesn’t sound so bad. When I label it as Chilul Shabbos, it becomes something to avoid.
Syag, I like that! Will have to try it Shabbos!
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™Participantoomis, what about Mendel?
Poster, does the mouse eat food in your house? What about from the traps?
If it can eat from the trap but doesn’t get trapped then it must be pretty smart! But with the Victor it won’t be able to do that. It’s like a tunnel and the food is all the way inside. But before the mouse can reach it, it will get zapped. All you have to do is open the cover and dump it into the toilet.
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™ParticipantVayoel Moshe/Viyoel Moshe/bp yidd: talking to me?
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™Participant“probably outa stress”
Nope. I just bite all the time. Do you only do it when you’re stressed?
PAA, can you translate that into plain English?
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™ParticipantI don’t think the Chazon Ish was saying that nail biting during the week is being ???? ???. What he was saying that by doing something during the week which is very hard to stop you will automatically come to be ???? ???, ?”?. (Please note the I and think. This is my own interpretation.)
?????? ?? ???? ??? ???? ????? ?? ??? ?? ??? ????? ???? ???? ??? ?? ???? ?? ??? ????
If you say out loud that this is ???? on ??? then you are ????? ???? ???? ???. I would guess that the person biting hours nails by the Chazon Ish was not even conscious of what he was doing.
Syag, we did have this discussion but I don’t think that is the only answer. And I think you will agree with me…
Why do I bite my nails? I REALLY don’t know!
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™Participantif you strengthen your shabbos awareness it will work just the same
I disagree. Biting/peeling ones nails/lips is a habit (and for some, they don’t even know they are doing it – not me ?”?). Knowing it is Shabbos may help a little but it’s not the answer. You must break it completely!
And anyways, why should I continue to ruin the ??? I was given? Imagine! After I break out of this habit I could peel oranges normally! I would be able to open the back cover of my phone without driving myself crazy! I would have healthy and strong nails!!! I can even put on nail polish without ruining it! Not! But maybe you could…
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™ParticipantSyag, like DY said, if I don’t stop completely, I won’t stop on Shabbos. That is why LG and I are continuing this project.
DY, there’s not really anything there. I just NEED to bite it! So far managing not to but it is driving me crazy!!
Why do I need to bite these nails anyway?
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™ParticipantI wanna bite my thumb nail soooo badly! :'(
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™ParticipantAs yehudayona said. Victor works and is clean.
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™Participant??? ????!
I was unable to accept Shabbos 40 min early because of a virus which rendered me bedridden all Friday morning. ?”? it basically went away before Shabbos.
I managed to stay bite-free all of Shabbos!! (However, I did bite my lips one or two times. Gotta work on that.)
It is harder this way cause you can’t tell yourself only X hours till ????? and then you can eat up all those nails!
LG, great job!
Syag, it’s not easy and you definitely get points (in Shomayim) for trying! Even stopping yourself one time is precious to Hashem!
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™ParticipantSyag, that sounds like an interesting one! Hatzlacha!
Wishing you all a No-Biting-Easy Shabbos! Enjoy the Kedusha (that doesn’t say Kiddush [or kishka] bit enjoy that too!)!
SiDi™
SayIDidIt™ParticipantI will try, ??? ???, to be completely ready for Shabbos 40 minutes before ????? this week as well. (Halachic Note: I am not accepting upon myself to do this every week. Even if I accept Shabbos 40 min early 3 weeks in a row, it should not be considered a Chazaka.)
My Anti-Nail-Biting project is going good so far, B”H!
LG, how are you doing?
Syag, did you join us?
SayIDidIt™ParticipantWhy does everyone want a subtitle so much?
October 30, 2014 1:43 pm at 1:43 pm in reply to: Why Do You Think Bnos Obama Yerushalayim Was Hit by Hurricane? #1038712SayIDidIt™ParticipantSyag’s line was the best!!
SayIDidIt™Participantmidwesterner, that is very funny!!
sig
SayIDidIt™ParticipantI do that too sometimes. But now I’m trying to stop that as well. In a way, it can be harder because your hands/fingers are right there! And yucky nail polish won’t help with it either!
So far, I’m clean for two days!
SayIDidIt™ParticipantYup. Gloves help (also during the day but be ready to explain why you are wearing gloves all day!)
SayIDidIt™ParticipantSyag, “I don’t bite my nails on shabbos anymore”
Do you still bite during the week?
SayIDidIt™ParticipantBTW, when is the day officially over? When do you put in (or ?”? take out) the money to your pushka?
Syag, I like that! Will have to try it Shabbos!
SayIDidIt™ParticipantRandomex, it was a rethoricol question.
Mazel Tov oomis and sm29! May you have many more happy years! oomis, ??? to your beautiful ????!
SayIDidIt™ParticipantI’m. Confused.
SayIDidIt™Participant(Where’s popa’s thread about lying on Yeshiva World?
SayIDidIt™ParticipantSyag, “I don’t bite my nails on shabbos anymore”
How did you stop?
SayIDidIt™Participantsm, where can you buy them? Are they easy to come off? Can you peel it off like LG did with the yucky nail polish?
SayIDidIt™ParticipantLittle Froggie, I was also away for a couple hours, but I’m not sure what happened?
SayIDidIt™ParticipantJust behave and stick with your own.
You make it sound like those who are/were affected did something wrong. I’m not sure what.
SayIDidIt™ParticipantLG, it’s great that you have “real” friends to help out!
sm, what are they?
SL, glad to have you join! The more the merrier!
SayIDidIt™ParticipantToday is my first day and so far so good!
How’s it going for you?
If anyone else wants to join (does not have to be biting your nails. Anything you what to break out of) feel free to join!
SayIDidIt™Participantcherrybim, I would disapprove of jokes referring to illnesses affecting the Jewish community ?”?.
My point still stands.
SayIDidIt™ParticipantWe miss him in the Funny Shidduchim Stories thread! (And I’m the CR in general, of course!)
SayIDidIt™ParticipantVery good! I didn’t 🙁 I gotta start working on it!
I think I’m going to start wearing disposable gloves at night. I lie in bed and bite my nails all night!
I heard somewhere (maybe read it here in the CR) that if you work on not biting your nails because of Shabbos, whenever you stop yourself during the week you are being ???? ??? and get a ????!!
SayIDidIt™ParticipantNot 100% sure, but I think so. Any “rules” you wanna change?
SayIDidIt™ParticipantThis thread deserves a Bump™!
SayIDidIt™ParticipantDo this until you reach your goal. Hopefully by then you would have broken this very bad habit! Don’t make the prize too big or you will get discouraged. Today, CDs cost about $15. So if each day you succeed, it will take a month to reach the goal. That sounds reasonable.
This idea can be used for any thing that you want to “Letakein”!
Maybe we should do it together and report to each other like a buddy system? If you want, let me know!
SayIDidIt™ParticipantThanks Golfer!
SayIDidIt™ParticipantSayIDidIt™ParticipantSL, that is cute!
SayIDidIt™ParticipantUnder what username?
SayIDidIt™Participantcrazybrit, very cute!
October 26, 2014 1:48 pm at 1:48 pm in reply to: Professor Randomex's first official Coffee Room study (in progress) #1038675SayIDidIt™ParticipantI think someone is spending too much time here.
SayIDidIt™ParticipantA bunch of kids were making a “cup castle” while visiting Zaidy and Bubby. Their father saw what they were doing and said, “What are you doing? You’re wasting all Bubby’s cups!” To which the kids responded, “Not ALL her cups!”
