Do you think it would be possible to make it so a user can remove any of his posts at any time regardless of how long it’s been since it was posted.

…Onegoal thats an interesting idea but think how weird threads would look with posts missing then subsequent replies to those posts would not make sense. Instead, be aware that once you send a post you have no further control over it (after the edit period elapses) so – mussar haskel – consider what you write carefully before sending it.

Shticky, you are right that threads will look funny, however, MANY threads are already hard to read because Mods deleted posts. I think there should be an [edited] tag to threads that had posts removed so that people will understand why the thread looks so weird.

Also, if onegoal’s idea would be set in place, when one removes his/her post, instead of deleting the entire post it should be replaced by Post Deleted by <User’s Name>. The same should apply when a mod removes a post. It should show that the user posted something and it was removed. This way people can see why it doesn’t make sense.

more: I forgot which Rebbe it was, but: There was a Rebbe who would give money to every person who would suggest a shidduch for his grand/children. He would say that 40 days before the baby was conceived, they would call out in Shomayim, “Ploni to Bas Ploni. No, wrong one. Ploni to Bas Ploni. Not good, next…” and so on and so forth. So each time a shidduch was suggested, it corresponded to the “not good ones’ from Shomayim until the right one will come along. So each suggestion was a step closer to a shidduch.

There was a poor man in town wo was desperate for some cash. So one of his friends suggested to him to suggest a shidduch for the Rebbe’s granddaughter and you will earn some fast cash. So, the man went to the Rebbe and suggested an outlandish shidduch. The Rebbe said thanks (but no thanks!) and Hatzlocha.

So the man said, “but Rebbe? What about Shadchanus? Don’t you give everyone money for bringing the shidduch closer?” The Rebbe answered, “Yes, I usually give money, but your suggestion is so crazy that even in Shomayim they didn’t think about that one!!”

Okay, so the student wants to text his former teacher. (BTW, we are not talking about different genders, are we?) If they were close to each other and want to keep a kesher, I don’t think there is something wrong with that. But, if s/he is a current student, there should be some type of boundary and texting can get very ‘heimesh’.

42, I think you are talking about adults texting their Rav for shailos etc. I think real israeli is talking about a Bochur in Yeshiva (somewhere between grade 1 and 12) texting his Rebbe to schmozze or something like that. They are two totally different things.
