DY:thanks
yekke2:Your grandfather probably saw it in the Taamei Minhagim .The Magen Avraham actually gives a different reason he says that the Maharil had a special tallis and he used to fold right away in order to do a mitzvah right away and he said the people of tzippori(Berchas 53) would do the same.
I will look up the Rivevos Ephraim who talks about folding a tallis on shabbas.
sam4321ParticipantSee Shulchan Halevi hebrew version.
sam4321ParticipantSee the Aruch Hashulchan on this ,diff than the Mishna Brurah.
sam4321ParticipantThe Rivevos Ephraim chelek 8:362 ,holds to cover after the shel rosh because it might br a hefsek.in chelek 8:12 he brings from the Chazon Ish that he would take the covering off and then put it back on after he made the bracha of the shel yad and made the wrappings.srr it inside for alot of sources on the topic.
sam4321ParticipantIn sefer Tshuvas Avigdor Halevi (Rav Nebantzol) on pg 65 was asked if it was hefsek to cover ones teffilin she’ll yad with his sleeve before putting on the rosh,he answered that it is not,the questioner asked why not ,the Rav said because it is a chelek of the mitzvah.
December 13, 2012 7:56 pm at 7:56 pm in reply to: Rav Feinstein and the Alter Rebbe of Chabbad #912916sam4321ParticipantThe sefer Mor Uktzia asks a very strong kasha on why it took 8 days to get new oil. He asks that there is a Mishna in taharas which is qouted in mesheces shabbas ,perek chavis shnishbarah which says that if a tamai meis squeezs out oil from olives without touching it and it being smaller than an egg the oil is not tamai,so why couldn’t they just squeeze the oil without touching it?
sam4321Participanttip,or top of ,like shpitz yeshivish = very yeshivish. Hard to explain but means top of the line.
September 7, 2012 2:10 am at 2:10 am in reply to: Need Source for Allowing or Not Allowing Teacher to Confiscate Items #906963sam4321ParticipantSIDI: This is the exact case you are talking about.
September 6, 2012 2:14 am at 2:14 am in reply to: Need Source for Allowing or Not Allowing Teacher to Confiscate Items #906944sam4321ParticipantSee Igros Moshe YD 4:30 and 4:31 I believe it talks about hitting and how a teacher should act, maybe it talks about something similar.
sam4321ParticipantWhat happened to this thread,any new vorts(baalhabooze?).
sam4321Participantnope
August 28, 2012 6:08 pm at 6:08 pm in reply to: Can you make a siyum if you learned in English? #1017727sam4321ParticipantListening to gemara tapes and fin shas one can make a syium.
sam4321Participantold post : http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/why-is-challah-braided
Having 12 challos comes from the Arizal quoted by the Ben Ish Chai Parshas Vayara 15 and he shows how to set it up. See the GRA who explains the 12 challos as splitting the two into 4 by the three meals = 12.
sam4321ParticipantAccounting dept is good and students get into the big 4 with Touro deg.
sam4321ParticipantSam2: http://hebrewbooks.org/pdfpager.aspx?req=21434&;st=&pgnum=212 , If form isshowing I dont know of a shittah who says it is not assur.
sam4321ParticipantDoesn’t Brachas 54b say upon seeing the pillar of lots wife one says a bracha?
sam4321ParticipantSam2: correct there is no 21.
The whole Perek Hachelek is amazing.
sam4321ParticipantShlishi: its daf32 and it is Africa the village of women when he was returning back and went to a stream.
sam4321ParticipantAruch Hashulchan (YD 293:6) equates all printed sefarim in kedusha and in terms of placing one on top of another:
???? ??? ???? ??? ???? ?
sam4321ParticipantEagle shirts are great, no wrinkles out of the dryer ,very good shirts.
sam4321ParticipantSam2: if you read the shulchan Halevi the mesh is a problem as well as synthetic.
sam4321ParticipantThe Shulchan Halevi(Rav Belsky) 4 says that a mesh beged is patur from tzitzis and if one makes tzitzis he is not mekaem the mitzvah and if he wears it on shabbas there is an issur of hotzah.
sam4321ParticipantRav Moshe held one does not make a bracha on them. However,Rav Sternburch(Tshuvas v’hanhagos in chelek 5) discusses this and he seems to hold that it is considered a beged aand it is no problem at alll have not seen it in a while though.
Yitay: Whats the problem on shabbas if one holds it is a beged and any beged is a mitzvah D’orasia?
sam4321ParticipantRKK: I guess the Mishna Brura(75:15) and Pri Migadim (can even use ones own hair ) doesn’t work for you.
See also the Tshuvos HaGrach(Rav Chaim Kanievsky) when asked did the Chazon Ish and Steipler permit paos nachris he answered yes. There is a very strong bases in permitting it(does depend where one lives )
sam4321Participantit means idiot.
sam4321ParticipantYitay: Sanhedrin 73a?
May 10, 2012 5:57 pm at 5:57 pm in reply to: Listening to music on Lag Baomer… Is it only from the morning or even in the evening? #1076072sam4321Participantnot2bright: Rav Dovid does hold like that since we don’t say tachunan by mincha already. See Beir Heitiv as well.
sam4321ParticipantThe Piskei Tshuvos 5:492 brings down that scrupulous individuals are accustomed to eat matzah on peasach sheni. In footnote 9, he brings down that in the siddur Yaavetz (Rav Yaakov Emden) that it was revealed to him from the heavens that the kedusha of pesach and matzah lasts until pesach sheni because when they went out from Egypt they ate the matzos that they came out with until the 15 of iyar (whereupon the man fell as it says in Kiddushin 38).
sam4321ParticipantSanhedrin 65b story with Rava and Rav Zeira and the story afterwards.
May 6, 2012 6:30 am at 6:30 am in reply to: Kidush levana tonight motzai shabbos anyone see the moon? #872431sam4321ParticipantIf I recall correctly the zmanim chart said 9:18 shabbas night was sof zman kidush levanah.
sam4321ParticipantHalevi: I think sam2 meant Tosefta 7:1 or 2.
sam4321Participantsam4321ParticipantThis has been asked alot. Be’er Moshe 8:36 http://hebrewbooks.org/pdfpager.aspx?req=14712&st=&pgnum=420&hilite=
sam4321Participantgemara in sukka 5a and meilah 17b on visiting rome and seeing things from the bais hamikdash. There are many more sources of seeing different items like the menorah and titus brain on a scale I believe, in medrashim and in the yerhusalmi.
sam4321ParticipantSam2: Mamish fascinating, it also took me a while to find, thanks.
sam4321ParticipantPerek Hachelek meshecehs Sanhedrin
April 29, 2012 1:36 am at 1:36 am in reply to: Davening With A Minyan vs. Davening Without A Minyan #871555sam4321ParticipantRav Moshe says it is a chiyuv, and I believe the Chasam Sofer held it was a D’orasia.
sam4321ParticipantWhats your question?
sam4321ParticipantThe gemara in sanhedrin explains that two strands of fire came from the kodesh kodashim and entered the sons of Arons nostrils and they were consumed. Why were they killed by these strands of fire? A gemara in eruvin explains that if one paskens infront of their rebbe they should be bitten by a snake, then they should have been bitten by a snake(gemara says this is what they were guilty of) why by fire instead? There is a medrash that says there was no snakes in the midbar because strands of fire consumed them. Since there was no snakes the fire which consumed the snakes was used(Tiferes Yehonasan)
sam4321ParticipantRivivos Ephraim (8) http://www.hebrewbooks.org/pdfpager.aspx?req=1082&st=&pgnum=490 interestingly in this little piece by the case of the women on the bus it says vzeh gam…
sam4321ParticipantRabbaim: There should be no inyun of ain mavirin when taking off teffilin like Sam2 said. My question was if one is so used taking there tefillin off with their left and it becomes easier than using their right hand should they switch?what are your other reasons?
sam4321ParticipantI am pretty sure shmiras shabbas kihilchasa speaks about this, and I think it is mutar only if it is mechanically done through the movement of your hand.
sam4321ParticipantPBA: I agree with you,one of the worst sins is saying lashon hara on Eretz Yisrael.
sam4321Participantcheftze: the Shev Shematzah (same author as the Ketzos) He said them at his sheva brachos.
From BaalHabooze(Dvar Torah Thread): Here’s another beauty.
The gemorah learns out you can marry a woman with money from the gezeira shova from our parsha:” ???? ????? ….???? ???? ????? ?????.”
The troubling aspect with this is, why not say it straight out! Why send us to the story of Efroin, where Avrohom bought land from him, why does the torah make us read about this greedy conceited man Efroin, I mean, my gosh, do we really have to come on to HIM to learn out money can be used for marriage?? Say it out:???? ???? ???? ?????? (??????? ????)!
The answer is that we see something interesting by that meeting, from BOTH parties involved. Efroin thought he’s getting the deal of the century by selling this dark old cave for a clearly overpriced cost. Avrohom was more than delighted to pay for this burial plot which Odom and Chava were buried in. Each one beleived HE got the better end of the deal! AND THAT’S HOW PEOPLE SHOULD ENTER A MARRIAGE!!! Both the chosson and the kalla should look each other in the eye and think to themself, Wow I can’t beleive my fortune! I won the lottery! My bashert is the greatest thing ever, I can’t beleive how lucky I am!
Now, go use this vort by your next sheva brochos 🙂
sam4321ParticipantPatri: Was talking about Shabbas not during the week.
sam4321ParticipantSam2: When carefully looking at the halacha it seems only for children and not for adults even according to the ones who hold it is permitted.
sam4321ParticipantSam2: Why not OC 309:45 Rama.
sam4321ParticipantI just saw in Piskei Halacha(pg 106) of Rav Belsky(new sefer put out) that listening to music during a workout on sefira is permitted because the music is to make the workout more effective and not for enjoyment.
sam4321ParticipantDont get it,sry
