On an empty stomach… yea.
SacrilegeMemberWIY
Yea.
SacrilegeMemberWIY
I leave my professional life at the office. So no one yells @ me I am not a lawyer yet. Making it abundantly clear.
Phrum
I’m not sure lol
I think I just know what isnt.
SacrilegeMemberWIY
Ironically, my Grandfather says it tastes similar (I’m not joking)
SacrilegeMemberWIY
No. I’m just still getting used to English 😉
SacrilegeMemberminyan
In the Bizarre Foods show they show Headcheese (in Spain) I think its actually made out of bits of the head thats why its called Head (not sure about the cheese part) and then its congealed with a gelatin and is served like cold cuts.
In the Philippines they have a street food called Balut, which is a fertilized duck (or chicken) egg that has a nearly fully developed embryo inside. It is then hardboiled and eaten out of the shell. *shudder*
SacrilegeMemberWIY
Sometimes the opportunity presence its self.
SacrilegeMember“if u run out of things to talk about u can count all the other dates and guess if they are interested in each other or just bored”
No need to guess the body language tells you everything.
SacrilegeMemberI’m not really a debater when it comes to dating…
SacrilegeMemberPhrum
I think the Teimunim taught him how to pickle them.
SacrilegeMembermyfriend
Its called being friendly.
SacrilegeMemberThe grossest thing I ever had, had to have been Blue Cheese. Whew!
SacrilegeMemberWIY
Oven. Top of the stove?! That takes mad skill…
My Grandfather does his Yerushalmi Kugel on top of the stove, yuuuuuum.
SacrilegeMemberWIY
Nope. I think it was a do or die situation.
SacrilegeMemberblinky
Really sweet of you to think of me 😉
Not my type.
SacrilegeMemberWIY
I’m actually hungry right now.
But the inspiration for this thread is the show Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, some of the things that guy eats is enough to turn your stomach inside out.
I realize that about 98% of what he eats isn’t kosher (nor would I want to try it) so I was wondering about some of the adventurous gastronomic experiences of my fellow members.
SacrilegeMemberSJS
Sweetbreads are neck glands.
SacrilegeMemberWIY
You made it too easy.
SacrilegeMemberI cant vouch for it since I never made it… But here is a low fat Potato Kugel. Enjoy!
8 medium potatoes
2 onion
2 whole eggs plus 2 egg whites, beaten
2 Tbsp. flour
1 Tbsp. pareve chicken soup powder
1/4 cup boiling water
1 Tbsp. salt, or to taste
1/2-1 tsp. pepper
2. Grate the potatoes and onion by hand or in a food processor. Let stand 3-5 minutes. Squeeze out excess liquid.
3. Place grated and drained potatoes and onions in a large bowl. Add beaten eggs and flour.
4. Dissolve soup powder in boiling water, and add to the potato mixture.
SacrilegeMemberWhen my grandfather was growing up he was so poor and there was literally no food to be found in Yerushalayim. Once there was a swarm of locust and thats what they all lived on for a while… He says the ones that are Kosher have a “Chaf” on their bellies.
Er, yum…
SacrilegeMember“I think most people on this forum have some ADD tendencies”
Guilty.
SacrilegeMemberWIY
“who would have thought I’m so evil”
Is this rhetorical? 😉
SacrilegeMemberumm
I’m obsessed with thinning cutlets. Nothing bothers me more (when it comes to food) than an unevenly cooked chicken breast.

LOL! sounds like my brother’s wedding. But that was OOT….
SacrilegeMemberWIY
I’m a fan of comedy, period. Yea, I think he’s funny, coupled with his ridiculous accent and zero sense of shame he pulls off a good show. Cant believe you like him… he says some pretty racy things.
SacrilegeMemberWhat aboot Canada?
SacrilegeMemberEvery city in the UK has a different dialect. For example Sean Connery is from Edinburgh (I think) while Craig Ferguson is born in Glasgow… completely different!
SacrilegeMemberI dont mind cleaning chickens because I’m pretty fanatical about feathers and such. I need a very clean kitchen when I cook so I am constantly washing utensils and pots, that is my worst part. Usually, if I do the cooking my mother doesnt mind doing the washing 🙂
SacrilegeMemberPhrum
Honestly, I have never watched a minute of Star Trek… not my thing.
I was commenting on oomis’s type over for accent unfortunately I forgot to put the “;)” so you would know I was only kidding.
Altho, Hugh Jackman… I can listen to THAT Australian accent all day…
SacrilegeMemberdunno
I dont?
I daven Shachris and Maariv.
SacrilegeMemberLaw Student
Check with the courts.
SacrilegeMemberoomis
I think that was an Irish accent.
SacrilegeMemberThe Australian accent sounds like a stoned Englishmen.
SacrilegeMemberyank
My family actually has a subscription… I just want to know if they are reliable.
SacrilegeMemberSmile
Yea, ’twas a joke…. not the Scottish one, Scots’ have a pretty slick accent.
November 11, 2010 2:14 pm at 2:14 pm in reply to: Fathers and brothers dancing with the Kallah #709165SacrilegeMemberI think you have to clarify that at the time when the father and brothers come into the womans section to dance with the Kallah all the woman STOP dancing. There is then No problem. I mean, you can try to go dredge when up, but dont go handing out labels or comparing it to eating pork.
SacrilegeMemberWIY
“Actually Im not 100% sure about this one”
Me thinks you made it up.
SacrilegeMemberScottish.
SacrilegeMemberPopa
If you want to sit/walk and talk you can do it in a nice setting: Botanical Gradens, Brooklyn Promenade, South Street Sea Port….
You dont have to go to a lounge. They are stuffy, pretentious and uninspired there is no reason to go there. I dont think anyone enjoys it, or feels like its a setting where you can truly relax and get to know someone.
SacrilegeMemberWIY
LOL. I’m trying to give as little info about his background as possible.
There are very few families that have been in E”Y for as far back as my Grandfathers family (I think its 15 generations)
Ok, I’m shushing now…
SacrilegeMemberWIY
“although strictly speaking women are not supposed to look at another women who isn’t dressed properly”
Since when?
dunno
“I know!! Lobby’s are the absolute worst place for a first date! I also glance at the TV when things get boring”
Lobbys are the worst period. I was on a third date with a guy, third lounge (this was early in my dating career) and he had obviously come to the conclusion that we were over, so he completely shut down. Wouldnt say a word! The thing was he didnt want to leave either, so I had a one way conversation with myself for about three hours. Luckily I spotted the bar that had a TV with a baseball game on and suggested we walk over there, at least I was able to catch a coupla innings! 😉
SacrilegeMemberWIY
Anyone could have, if they were born in Israel….
My grandfather came after he fought in the War of Independance.
His family has been in E”Y for generations… (now that I gave myself away)
SacrilegeMemberI’m a xenophobe 🙂
SacrilegeMemberSqueak
“every word you say here is qualified legal advice, right?”
Wrong. Unfortunately, until I take the bar I am not qualified to dole out legal advice…
*looks around* I dont want certain members to remind me (what I already know) what is ethical for me to do.
SacrilegeMemberWIY
“He said that now even by Ranger games they have women on the ice dancing and cleaning off the ice.”
Did you ever go to a Hockey game? The things fans say are WAY worse than any Ice Girl’s uniform… if you are sensitive to that sorta thing.
SacrilegeMemberBPT
It has long been established that I am the best cook in the family (not that I have much competition…. sorry Ma!)
My married brother usually schedules his shabbosim around when I am cooking 😉
SacrilegeMemberWIY
Congrats on the name change!
My grandfather was born in E”Y, came to America to get married and have a family, and then moved back after he retired (about 13 years now).

Do you use the stem?
I find that if you just use the leaf it has a more mild flavor.
SacrilegeMemberICOT
Sounds like Yo Mama jokes…
