Parents, Just a lil FYI the number of frum “internet” addicts r rising ridiculously…. the worst thing you can do for your children is to not be educated enough..
I have heard people saying its not so tzniyus but my mind can not grasp the concept. I have tried with all my brainpower but I just can not understand it. maybe very long, bright colors but otherwise… I definately wear n am fine with it
mytake- im so so impressed with u! It may be hard for u, but half the battle is CARING about tzniyus! Good for u! One thing that works for me is thinking about how Im such an amazing special person I dont want to look less than that.. thinking highly of myself..it doesnt “pas”.. Anyone can look good in less tzniyus clothes but not everyone looks “special”
Wolf- chill. We wont deprive u of anything. Ur obviously so infatuated with ur tools u cant hear my point. But I hope u never have to witness the kind of devastating destruction that comes from these lovely “tools.” I have.. (maybe I should add to the divorce posts..) n that is why I think it is something to take into account, understand the dangers, n use with caution..

There r books that give tons of ideas. If u r a teacher u should definatelly try to learn as much as u could.. One thing thats cute- make a whole production of getting all the kids so quiet so they can here the pin drop.. literally- drop a paper clip on the floor before circle time every day- the kids will have to be super quiet so everyone can hear it!

I think its a very personall thing.. There r many different ppl and many different “levels” of kosher and there r different “levels” of what u personally would feel appropriate to ingest into ur being.. there r also sensitivities that some ppl have and some ppl dont.. I dont think this topic can really be generalized into a kosher-yes or no kinda question. But I definately think its something everyone should think deeply and honestly about because I believe its something unhealthy for a jew..
There r some electronic devises that r particularly dangerous that we could technically live without and should not be compared to food or knives or clothing. I am referring to electronic games/ipods/cell phones/palms with internet access. Lets try not to be naive.. there r SO many ppl who literally destroy themselves and others with these devises.
wolf- whoooa. do u really think thats what i was referring to?
what is the positive usage of electronic devises? (besides shiurim) Is there anything we can not live without? we need knives.. we need ropes.. do we really NEED all these devises? Yes, we love them and we never want to imagine having to live without them, but lets be honest- i dont think they should be classified as a NEED…just something to think about..

i work in a store/office that is usually quiet. there r some days that no customers come in and the phone barely rings.. i cant imagine my boss expects me to sit in front of a computer for six hours a day and not use it…

mdg, dy- tell me what u think. i decided to eat CY when i was younger even though my family doesnt. anyways, recently, i had just gotten separated from my husband,i was in a very sad place and i had barely eaten. One morning, before i left to work my father quickly cooked me some eggs and gave it to me in an ouD english muffin. i thought it was so adorable and sweet i almost started crying (that was the state i was in) but i realized it was ouD n i couldnt eat it. aaanywaz later in the day i was hungry , i had no other food, and i said- it was made with so much love! im eating it! i usually never “justify” things but at that point i just needed to be gentle with myself. reading your posts, i realize nedarim arent simple.. So my question is- was that completely wrong? what should i do about it?
aries- actually he is a nice person. and i certainly dont think singers r not nice ppl! i just wouldnt choose to marry one!
i do not have a problem with singers and i do not have a problem with children singing either. i happen to think it could be a great outlet, source of self esteem, and a way to use ur talents.. i wish there wer more of such outlets for children, and for girls too. but with every good thing, there is a flip side, and i have personally witnessed that flip side in adults. i actually was married to an “aspiring” singer… so i have some experience..

For as long as i can remember.. (how old is this tape?) Every time my father comes home he calls out- Honey! Im home! and then yells out- biiiiig deal.. (did i just give away my identity?) i absolutely love this tape:) why is there only one? Imagine if there was one for all the holidays! Nobody would need TV!
What exactly is off base? in my circles.. (there r differnt frum communities, i may be in a different one than u) the rabbis outright do not not aprove of bnei torah becoming singers. for excellent reasons. i see first hand what “singers” become… i guess everyones minds r so pure they can not imagine a place where such a phenomenon exists.. Baruch Hashm!
for some reason, whenever i run into the grocery for last minute items i never get a basket. i always end up remembering more things i need than those 2 items and have to make a whole scene trying to balance a bunch of things.. but anyways.. pressurizing friday afternoon.. store was closing.. tissue boxes were slipping out of my arms.. and i really needed a bag of peanut chews for a last second desert i promised to make someone for a simchah. i stood there for minutes and agonizing minutes searching the candy isle.. and there were no nuttychews. it was my last outing before shabbos- if not for those chews there would be no dessert. i turned around to leave and i said- just one more look- i asked hashm to pleeese find me some peanut chews, i looked at the shelf and my eyes went INSTANTLY to some other candy shelf and to a bag of nutty chews hiding in the back- My mouth dropped open- i knew i never would have been able to find it..and it didnt even take a second. it was incredible! hashm really..”physically” moved my eyes to see what He wanted me to see- and i felt it so obviously!!i felt so completely loved and taken care of! and flattered! lol. That is my favorite Hashgachah story:)

Once i was walkin down a quiet street, and a man pulled up next to me and told me to cross to the other side, its dangerous. he then drove away. i crossed over and moments later a car crashed right into where i would have been standing.. Thank u hashm!

The Syrians have tremendous pride in thr heritage and have an extremely strong mesorah of praying, respect for chachamim, shabbos, taharas hamishpachah, and kosher. That is a major thing that prevented assimilation. As for the geirim- every single major Rabbi holds by it. we dont have to understand it exactly. We just have to trust in them.
