    mentsch,
You asked if we should allow violent gang members back on the street.
The answer is “of course not”, but locking them up and treating them with cruelty is no solution either.
Have you ever seen the movie Trading Places? It shows that education and environment make all the difference. Give those gang members an education, give them love, they won’t be gang members anymore.
Psychopaths need to be locked up in a mental institution, they are born with a defected brain. Why does society consider them guilty?

    mentsch,
I am interested to know where the Gemara discusses jail.
It goes without saying that the society needs to be protected from dangerous people, but it doesn’t give anyone the right to lock someone up for life in a tiny cell, and treat them like subhumans. Have you ever seen how they treat people on death row? It can take 20 years until the death sentence is carried out. You might argue that giving them an extra 20 years to live is a chesed, it’s made to exhaust all legal options. True, but why do the accused need to be abused in every single way during those 20 years? This is not justice, this is cruelty, this is a sin even according to Noahide laws.
The justice system in USA is a huge failure, because it’s a man made system. Moshe Margaretten has tried to change things, he was successful B”H, but it’s only a drop in the ocean.
Incarceration is the most cruel man made invention. It has no place in our Torah.

Incarceration is not a Torah concept
In Torah a murderer is sentenced to death. If there’s not enough proof (2 witnesses and warning) he goes free. A thief goes free if he returns the stolen goods. If he doesn’t return them, he is sold as a slave until shmitta.
Incarceration is an invention by the gentiles. It’s cruel and inhumane. God’s laws are compassionate.

“Also why don’t you want to take the vaccine if you don’t trust them?”

Yeah if you don’t trust the vaccine, you don’t take it. What’s your question??

The virus is deadly, that’s a וודאי (sure thing), the side effects of the vaccine are a ספק, so a וודאי takes precedence over a ספק (doubt).

The author of this thread wrote that price is not an issue. This discussion is about good machines, not about who can afford them. Some people don’t even own a washing machine, they go to a launderette.
Some people wash all their white underwear at 90° Celsius. When you say you can wash at 90°, do you mean Celsius or Fahrenheit? American machines do not have a program of 194° Fahrenheit (90° Celsius).
So whether you can afford it or not, MIELE is the top of the line.

So has anyone heard of MIELE? I highly recommend it, it’s the top machine in Europe, it has a cooking program 90° C. No American machine has a cooking program.

I live in Europe, MIELE is the best machine ever! A hot cycle (ranging from 60 to 90 degrees Celsius) can take up to 3 hours. In US the machines don’t have hot water cycles, the highest temperature is 110 Fahrenheit, no wonder your clothes don’t come out clean.

We only have one Torah, and yet people say dvar toros, sefer toros. There is no plural for Torah. The plural of dvar Torah is divrei Torah, the plural of sefer Torah is sifrei Torah.
    Does anyone care?

It’s disturbing when people say “Dvar Toros” instead of the Divrei Torah.

Zissel is the nickname for Zusha/Zisha. Girls are usually called Zissy.

A woman was called Elchanit after her grandfather Elchanan. At age 45, she went to see Rebbetzin Kanievsky who told her that her husband is opposed to certain names (Shira is one of them). She also said that her husband is opposed to giving boys names to girls and vice versa. The woman’s husband went to consult with Rav Kanievsky who told him to change his wife’s name. Today she is called Chana.

    Eli (short for Elisheva)
I know a guy whose name is Michoel (like the malach) but he is called Michal like the woman’s name.

yekke2, I agree with you that Gateshead could be claustrophobic and stifling for those who need more space for expression.

NeutiquamErro, I coild not find anything on Imrei Binah. I have no idea what you mean with Applebees, is this some kind of joke I am missing?

Thanks for your suggestions and for clarifying what Gr8bochur suggested.

Be’er Hatorah in Gateshead is for youngsters, my son is post high school (I mentioned it earlier). There is Nezer Hatorah for older bochurim. The problem is that Gateshead is a boring place, no outlets, nothing to do after seder whereas in Israel boys go to restaurants and can do fun things.

I watched the video of Tiferes Zion, the boys look very modern, t-shirts and big hairdos, this is not our style. We come from a heimish, slightly Chassidic background. My son is simply not interested in learning Gemoro all day long.

Lev Aryeh seems regular mainstream Yehsiva with 3 daily sedorim, too intense for my son.

Thanks iacisrmma, I have heard about the first 3 Yeshivos you mentioned.

How about Yeshivas Zeev HaTorah where Rabbi Shmuel Brazil is the Rosh Yeshiva?

Lilmod Ulelamaid – thanks for your response

I would like to know if they permit Smartphones, and if there’s a curfew, and basically for what type of boys they cater. As I wrote earlier, my son needs to be motivated to learn, he would rather have fun.

Apushatayid – I will rephrase my question as you so nicely suggested. What Yeshiva, can help develop his interest in learning? I won’t say wherever it may be because he’s not going to US, he would have stayed in Europe but there’s no suitable yeshiva for him out there, so the only option is Israel.

Geordie613 – maybe you can help me like you helped your dear Gr8bochur.

I am looking for a Yeshiva for my son in Israel (post high school). My son also wants a place where he can keep his Smartphone, and where they can go out to restaurants in the evening. He is not so interested in learning (yet), so I need a place that will motivate him, rather than criticize him. Has anyone heard of Yeshivas Ziv HaTorah with Rav Shmuel Brazil?
