As far as I know is only frozen broccoli can be used. Eden is the best frozen brand.
Also I personally don’t care what language the goyim speak here be it English or Spanish or what ever other language they want but for me Yiddish will always be the language that I perfer to speak.
How can you compare Yiddish to Spanish? I have nothing against spanish people and I myself speak a little Spanish but Yidden have always spoke a language different from the goyim even in Mitzrayim they spoke their own language and was one of the things that saved them.
Hi Aurora, I did not know that you are a woman. I think now that it is more important that you learn Yiddish because women don’t really need too much Hebrew except the basics like prayer and blessings. Like some of the other people here said that the best way to learn Yiddish is in a religious community that speaks Yiddish like Boro Park, Williamsburg or Monroe but unless you want a really chasidic neighborhood you may or may not like it but all the people are very nice and wood be very welcoming.

It is very important that you learn Hebrew ( Lashon Kodesh, not modern Hebrew (Ivrit) what they speak in the “State of Israel” which is not a Jewish language and has no Holiness) to be able to understand prayers and learning Torah.
I learned Yiddish and did not grow up with it. I think the only way is to be around people who speak it and hear it spoken. You can use grammar books to help with grammar.

There is such a minhag for a bucher to wear tefillin Chol Hamoed. The Satmar Rebbe ZT”L held that bucherim should wear tefillin, when I was a bucher I put on tefillin at home W/O a brucha. It is based on Tzanzer Ruv ZT”L who held a bucher should not do anything that has to do with kabuleh. He also held that a bucher should daven nisach ashkenaz but that is not done today. As far as talking I know the Mishneh brira says not to talk devurim betailim with tefillin. I have seen people who lift up the shel rosh if they need to talk.
Can someone answer me why in the frum community people protect pedophiles? I can’t understand why a normal frum kid would actually lie about someone molesting them. a normal frum kid does not start learning about things until a little before their chasina so why would they just make this up? and by Chasidim a bucher does not learn the first perek of kesivis and alot of yevumos or other gemuras that talk about such things. Working hard, I think that is a shame that peole use their money for vacations and nice new fancy cars with fancy houses instead of using it for what is really important, schar limid for their children. Most families in brooklyn have beautiful houses. I am happy in my small appartment I don’t need a big fancy house. ( how can you daven with kavuneh, derech tachninim and everything else that you need in shemoneh esrei in 1 minute. and when you finish and go back 3 steps you need to stay in your place until kedisha not walking around) I know people are not perfect and if this would have been one of the bus drivers of the yeshiva it would not have bothered me as much but if you are going to be a rebbe and teaching Torah then pratice what you preach or go become a bus driver or the yeshivas manager over the goyim who clean, people wonder why there are so many kids OTD.

The best way to wash tzitzis that I have found is to soak for a few hours in wool light then rinse them out hang them up to dry and then iron them. I don’t put mine the machine.

I have not read all 20 pages of this but I would like to add my opinion. I am a ger and recognize that the frum community is messed up. I don’t blame any OTD kids because it does not surprise me when a kid goes OTD. Seeing how rov frum people are I can’t understand why a kid would want to be frum. A kid is like a blank piece of paper and you can teach him anything, so if a love of Hashem and Torah is instilled in them from a young age and they see they have erlicher parents who do everything out of Love for Hashem and not just as a burden. A father who learns every extra second he has and who makes erlicher bruchos and not just a shuckel with the lips saying all 10 words in one breath, and talks about Hashem and a mother who dresses tzniusdik and not like rov “frum” women today with their long sheitelech and tight clothing with the skirt barely covering the knee. If I would have known more and had more experience with Frum people I would not had became a ger but now It is my belief in Hashem and Torah and wanting to do his rutzen that keeps me frum, not the frum community.
Also I forgot to mention, being that I am a ger it does not matter how much I learn or how frum I am I will always be “The Ger” and be a second class citizen. I came from a state where there are no frum people I had just been learning about Yiddishkeit alone on the internet. When i moved to New York and went to Yeshiva and was megayer (I was megayer at young age) I learned more and more Torah and was around frum people for a while. mdd, it says not to show hair but I saw somewhere that it is says also to cut it off before going to the Mikva. also I don’t have a Y.D handy right now but I know in Hilchos Tefillin I think maybe 27 or 28 I don’t remember, I will look it up later but I know it says something about hair being a chatzitza.

Cutting into the peyos unfortunately is a big problem with Chasidim. There are alot whole don’t have a kosher shiur. In Williamburgs most mikvahs have a guy who cuts hair for 7$. Most of them just want the 7$ and don’t care about the shiur. In Pupa on Bedford the guy is very careful and knows the haluchos. I used to get my hair cut there until I moved to Boro Park and now just do it on my own because I don’t trust anyone except for him. I have a bigger shiur then most Chasidim and it looks “extreme” to most of them but it is not worth being oiver on a deoraisa.

It is sad that men don’t greet each other here in Brooklyn. I was in Flatbush for Shabbos ( not because I wanted to be but had to be for a simcha) no one said Gut Shabbos. In Boro Park and Williamsburg most men don’t greet each other unless they know each other. I try to say Gut Shabbos to men sometimes they respond sometimes not. I won’t greet a woman.

Why should a frum girl expect a frum guy to say “gut Shabbos” to her unless they are the type of very modern people who are not Shomer Negia and other mitzvos bewtween men and women and even such a person probably would not expect a “gut shabbos” from a Yeshivish guy with a black hat or a Chusid with a shtreimel and vaser zaken. Also in Brooklyn men usually don’t exchange gut shabbos unless they know each other.
I always buy Golden Flow CY milk and have never had a problem with it going bad too fast.
If you live in New York it is very easy to find CY. Maybe it costs a few dollars more but it is worth it. Fresh and Tasty and Devash is cheaper then Golden Flow, Most of you who complain about the price would buy something that you really really want even if it is a little more expensive so I don’t think that is a good excuse.
