Today is Vav Tammuz. Please be extra careful. We already had a tragedy this morning. Hashem Yishmor.
RamchasParticipantFrom the CDC. Seems like the typical Sofek Nefashos to me – the type you’re Mechalel Shabbos on.
THC-containing products continue to be the most commonly reported e-cigarettes, or vaping, products used by EVALI patients, and it appears that vitamin E acetate is associated with EVALI. However, many substances and product sources are being investigated, and there might be more than one cause. Therefore, while the investigation continues, persons should consider refraining from the use of all e-cigarette, or vaping, products.
CDC will continue to update guidance, as appropriate, as new data become available from this complex outbreak.

February 21, 2013 3:56 pm at 3:56 pm in reply to: Facebook Is To Blame For Rising Orthodox Jewish Divorce Rate? #935181RamchasParticipantFrom ZD Net:
Facebook is cited in 1 out of every 5 divorces in the United States, according to the Loyola University Health System. Furthermore, 81 percent of the country’s top divorce attorneys say they have seen an increase in the number of cases using social networking evidence during the past five years, according to a recent survey by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). Last but not least, Facebook is the unrivaled leader for online divorce evidence with 66 percent citing it as the primary source, the AAML said.
RamchasParticipantIt would be great to have a Hashkafa/Halacha Q&A section separate from the CR (i.e: Ask Moses), where users could ask and post answers with ratings (i.e: Yahoo! Answers; Ask.com). As an example:
Question: Why does Rosh Hashana come before Yom Kippur?
Best Answer (ratings): Rosh Hashana is a Day of Judgement for the upcoming year based on our future plans. Once we’re set on a fresh path with clear commitments, we go back and “cleanse” the wrong-doing from the previous year on Yom Kippur.

All I see in 3:1 is the Rambam mentioning the moon as one of the Galagalim, such as the stars and the sun…

November 20, 2011 3:24 am at 3:24 am in reply to: Who, alive today, can answer questions like R Aryeh Kaplan? #828742RamchasParticipantR’ Moty Berger of Aish; R’ Akiva Tatz; Rav Yisroel Brog (Cleveland); Rav Shalom Kaminetsky (Philadelphia). All of them are in their own right geniuses in approach and content.
There are also many experts on specific topics such as other beliefs and counter-missionaries. Just ask any organization with a Kiruv training program such as Torah Links in Lakewood.
Hatzlacha!
RamchasParticipantHere is my take – Use the building construction frame concept:
1) Frame 2×3’s or 2×4’s – cut to size choice – flat on the ground
2) Connect them with angular connectors from the inside
3) Get aluminium fittings to erect 2×3’s or 2X4’s studs every 4 ft
5) Screw in the fittings and the studs
4) Mount a roof frame on top of the studs – same as ground frame
5) Use 48X96″ plywood or corrugated plastic for the walls
If done with Seichel the first time around, this Sukkah will be very easy to mount every year thereafter.
Hatzlacha!
RamchasParticipantoh-yeah – Thank you very much for that info!
RamchasParticipantoh_yeah – Would you mind providing me with names of schools who have already implemented the system?
Thanks.
RamchasParticipantICOT – Your idea is great indeed and my company is about to release such a system at no cost to the schools.
The parents pay a minimal fee to receive an advance notification of the bus arrival, morning and afternoon. The information is based on real-time GPS location of the bus and live traffic.
We are now actively seeking schools that own their own buses to pilot the system this coming winter. If you or anyone else knows of good prospects please refer them to us.
Simply Google “Lakewood NJ GPS Tracking” and we’ll be the first ones to come up.

December 8, 2010 4:55 am at 4:55 am in reply to: Shaitle Fraud Chillul Hashem Video: Sha'ar haTumah haChamishim #717877RamchasParticipantIf indeed the Judge called Georgi, there is little doubt she did it way prior to the show and the whole hearing was just a set up:
The Judge asks pertinent questions about the Shaitel she’s presently wearing…at the BEGINNING of the show;
She mentions calling a DIFFERENT expert and then suddenly comes up with the idea of calling Georgi!
Notice the smirk on her face when she decides to put the court on recess;
The case is adjourned too quickly for a Judge who’s trying hard to find out the intricacies of the case…
In conclusion, she’s appalled at the “false” proof of value for the Shaitel and I’m appalled at the false presentation of the case process…
RamchasParticipantWhat does MAKAB”I stand for?
Megillat Antyiochus (Ner 2 Pasuk 26) brings down that when Yochanan son of Matisyahu came back from the war he built a monument called: MAKAB”I MEMIT HACHAZAKIM.
Traditionally it’s taught to stand for Hashem’s name as in Mi Khamocha Ba…
Here is a novel interpretation based on a different version of the Megilla that adds: he built a monument ‘to his name’ (Al Sh’mo) called MAKAB”I…
According to this version it seems that he was referring to his acronyms: Matisyahu Kohen Ben Yochanan.
The problem though is that we’re dealing with Yochanan the son of Matisyahu and not the opposite!
Comes the Mishna in Gittin 87a (Perek 9 Mishna 6) to the rescue…
It tells us that Yevanim had a different way of signing a Get.
By them, Reuven Ben Shimon meant: the son of Reuven is, Shimon!
We could then very well conceived that Yochanan also signed his name like his contemporary Yevanim: Matisyahu Kohen Ben, is Yochanan!!
RamchasParticipantThe shoemaker
In late August 1939, a man brings his shoes at the shoemaker.
Three days later, war is declared. Mobilized, he moved to the front, and he was taken prisoner. Liberated by the Russians in 45, he fought with an officer, which earned him ten years of Gulag. Traded by the Americans, he finds himself in the United States and settled there.
And now forty years later, he returned to France as a tourist. Of course, this man will see his street. It has changed much, except that the shoe repair store is still there. So out of curiosity, he enters and asks the old man behind the counter:
– How long have you been here for?
– Oh, my dear sir, since before the war!
– So is it to you that I gave my shoes to repair! It was late August 1939. Three days later I was mobilized …
He tells his whole story. And he adds:
– In fact, you may still have my shoes? It would be funny …
– Wait … I’ll see says the old man.
He lifts his door and down the basement. From below he shouts:
– What color are your shoes?
– Yellow!
– Are they square with brown laces?
– Yes!
– They’ll be ready on Thursday …
RamchasParticipantI would put safety first when choosing a car. It’s essential to have good crash avoidance and crash protection features. SUVs and vans are more prone to rollover and need twice the safety distance to stop.
Consumer Report recommends checking the safety ratings at:
