Why not by email??? It is not an asifa to say e mail is assur, only to educate about the need to exhibit responsible use of the internet. Don’t drive down the dangerous road without driving instructions!! The Gedolim- ainei haeida- want to give instructions and make people feel proud to be part of the zehirus group. What is the downside?

Even al has played secular music even when the contract said not to. they keep it rocky and more rocky….. even deafening and remain oblivious to pleas to lower the volume. When they played at my brothers chassunah they refused. I told them I need to warn the public that they disregard requests about lowering volume and they told me to publicize it. here it is!

What have you tried that has not worked? Any of the above suggestions? My collection has worked without fail for so many Talmididm. very few individuals have tried it for real and have not succeeded. most who really followed it all have been opened!

Also, in this weeks parsha we see a connection between kedusha and kashrus. Are you careful with the hechshairim of what you put ion your mouth? Rav Akiva Eiger once told the paretn of a child who did not enjoy learning that he must have eaten treif……and once he did teshva, his geshmak followed.

If he is really your Rebbi, ask. You will get sagacious advice and his heartfelt Tfillah as a side benefit. It also helps if you run into problems, he is connected with the matzav and can provide more comprehensive direction.

In addition, sometimes you don’t see a second side to an issue anad he may see a few more. Why not utilize your resource? If you were investing $$$$ and you thought maybe reuvain has some possible info about the company, you’d call …… call your Rebbi!

IN the last few years my fellow Rabbaim and I have seen a significant increase in talmidim telling us of fathers who drink to get drunk on Fri night and don’t wake up till almost Mincha time on Shabbos or come home very high from a kiddush, rush through a day seuda drinking more to top it off and wake up to mumble a 2 shmoneh esray maariv and havdalah on pepto bismol ( grape juice).

Brooklyn yenta- 1-I wonder if stating I don’t want to get into Lashon hara is itself a problem of Lashon hara

2- I speak form experience and close knowledge of that yeshiva. I have heard Rechilus and so far NONE of is has basis in reality! It is amazing how smart people will talk “lshaim MItzvah” and parrot the most ridiculous outlandish tings without ever checkoin them out. I checked and checked.. and I still feel it is one amazing place helping individual bachurim to achieve amazing heights in all areas of Avodas Hashem in a very normal and simcha filled environment

Again, they are in the heart of Flatbush and the doors are open all the time for anyone to enter and observe! The Rosh Yeshiva makes time for ANYONE who wants to talk. Taste before besmirching even in a hint.

Why limit Hashem? Trust in HIM and let HIM decide where he learned!

As long as he was serious and dedicated, why should you care?? BTW, one of the best kept secrets for serious, devoted, well adjusted happy deep, baalei Midos Bnei Torah is Tal Torah in Brooklyn- Rav Lederman. My neighbors s-in-l is from there and it is an amazing place… drop in and see/feel for yourself! Try there for amazing well rounded Talmidei Chacamim who are real ovdei Hashem with NO GAAVA!!

Sam- Why do you say there is no ain maavirin? Are you aware that the Yerushalmy holds it is a Mitzvah to remove tfillin and they even used to make a Bracha upon removing it? If you use the right hand to reach up to the shel Rosh, you pass the shel yad on the left hand. If so, you should remove that one first. Isn’t that ain maavirin? If however you use the left then you avoid ain maavirin!

Additionally, using the weaker hand demonstrates a reluctance to remove them.

2- daven hard with a lot of begging and feeling when you say Birchas HaTorah in the am. Vihaarev Na Hashem…… and PLEASE make it sweet in my mouth……… mean IT!!

3- Deep concentration during the last Bracha before Shma. Avinu Av Harachaman…….. and give in to my heart understanding etc….. really mean it. you will see a change in a few days!

Stick with the left. there are many many reasons. Ain Maavirirn al Hamitzvos can be done by removing with the left, not the right, The right would have to pass the shel yad on the way to the Rosh. The left hand does not have that issue!

I would love to abolish tests as well. But the reality is that whne there are no tests people just so not try as hard to understand, retain and remember. In theory we (teachers especially!) would love that everyone learn lishma…… in reality, the yetzer horah makes sure that other interests take a front seat and push away real learning. I have tried it many many times in my classes over the years. If Talmimdim/os are taught inan exciting classroom environment by a tracher who genuinely loves them, loves his subject manner and loves giving it over, and gives fair but challenging exams then the sense of accomplishment and excitement is ever greater by being rewarded with high grades. Diluting tests gives a talmid-ah a feeling of being cheated. And lishma only works for a limited few. The Mishna says to always learn not lishma because it will bring to lishma. Fair tests with ample support and encouragement does much better than no test. Retention is better also. In the end if when you need it you cannot remember it, of what value was it? There is much greater productivity and creativity with good learning and testing.

Bekitzur- If the topic is interesting and it responds to your needs and questions, why should it be less effective if you are tested?

Maybe increase the learning of Hashkafa seforim like Michtav MaEliyahu, some Maharal, which bring a certain clarity to the depth of what we are doing…. giving it a certain sweetness which can reinforce what we are dong ritually. Take the habit away, make it meaningful and rich.

and many give the Yiddish names because in todays frum world they are absolutely acceptable and used. NO need to change. BTW no one speaks the lashon kodesh we spoke in Mitzrayim Ivrit or Ivris is not lashon Kodesh and many hold that Yiddish, by its very name is part of not changing our language. Rav Oshry ztl (Teshuvos Mimamakim) said that yiddish is the ONLY language that announces by it’s’ name that it sis for Yidden even though it is a mixture of many. ( Yidden DO have a specail affinity for cholent!!!)

Freezer is gevaldik. It allows for a bachur who is new to get his whole essence into learing and when he dates he is doing so from an emotionally elevated state, a place of being “in the groove” instead of with accompanied frustration of acclimation. I have coached many and I have seen the truth of this on frequent occasions.

1- Pizza crust first because those who are maakpid like Mishna Berrurah and Rav Shlomo Zalman to make Hamotzie on Pizza they want to make the Bracha on plain crsut wiht no sauce or chgees.

2- In Kabala there are 7 foods one eats with his hands, no other. Although we are not on that madraygah, let us be careful not to mock.

3- I have seen Gedolim and Rabbanim chashuvim eat a sandwich with fork and kniofe. My Rebbi exlained that it is not proper to put food in mouth, bite and pull some out. From mussar point of view It is uncouth and form Kabbalistic point of view is a rejection of portions of food which then would never be eaten. Breaking off pieces and eating a piece at a time is the proper way to live on the higher standards.

4- I have seen some great people do the same with Matzah and Korach as well. Great people are consistent.

5- We need to avoid demonstrating our ignorance by criticizing, mocking, being sarcastic without checking things out. Yiddishkeit is a multi level experiential possibility. Not everyone is expected to be the same and different standards DO apply to different people. MOst certainly laytzanus is not a virtue.
