BogenParticipant
brook19, and you went to Ashkenazic B.Y. schools.
December 24, 2008 12:54 pm at 12:54 pm in reply to: How Many Sufganiyot Did You Have Tonight? #836736BogenParticipantbrooklyn, that was the impression I got, lol 🙂 Shouldn’t that be on the Random Questions thread?
Actually a couple of times you used the Sephardic havara, like “Bat” Mitzvah. (On some other thread.)
BogenParticipantbrklyn19, are you Sephardic?
BogenParticipantdont have internet – just ask me, and don’t bother her. 🙂
BogenParticipantWhy do women live longer than men?
Because G-d adds them the time that they wasted on parking.
A woman has the last word in any argument.
Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.
Why don’t women need drivers licenses?
There is no road between the bedroom and the kitchen.
How many men does it take to open a beer?
None, it should be opened when she brings it to you.
What’s worse than a male chauvinistic pig?
A women who won’t do what she’s told.
A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he wants. A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn’t want.
A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend. A successful woman is one who can find such a man.
A woman has the last word in any argument. Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.
So, G-d made Adam. Adam was walking around one day and realized that he was lonely, so he asked G-d for a companion. G-d said, “I can make a woman for you. She will cook and clean and do everything you ask her to. She will wait on you hand and foot. It’s going to cost you an arm and a leg, though.”
Adam said, “Well, what can I get for a rib?”
BogenParticipantbrooklyn, what time are you expecting me?

BogenParticipantintellegent, Many Rebbes and Rabbonim didn’t allow themselves do be photographed for that very reason. They held it was a form of Avoda Zora.
BogenParticipantThe Chasidim do it like that.
BogenParticipantasdfghjkl – what was the subject that you got rejected?
December 14, 2008 8:37 pm at 8:37 pm in reply to: Television: A Cry of Anguish and Appeal to Our Jewish Brethren 📺 #1192835BogenParticipantillini07,
By time you find out if you lost your Olam Haboah due to your television habits, it will be too late to do anything about it.
As far as your refusing to name your Rabbi, name ANY Rabbi who is on the record supporting television in a Jewish home. I have trouble believing you will find any, but in the unlikely event I am mistaken, please do name ANY that are on the record as such. Our side has given you a boatload of the most respectable Rabbi’s who declared otherwise.
BogenParticipantNot a single kiruv worker will ever advise someone to come to shul by driving on Shabbos. CHAS V’CHALILA!! They will all advise to better stay home!

BogenParticipantSounds like theres a few people here who are allergic to supporting the Torah.
BogenParticipantThe people who focus on looks/beauty as a priority, are nebech usually the ones who later regret their choices and end up…
BogenParticipantDid anyone already suggest adding new moderators to help things move along?
BogenParticipantThere obviously isn’t more than 2 moderators (78 & 99?) considering the long times it takes posts to be reviewed/approved.
BogenParticipantAnother interesting facet regarding posters here that I’ve noticed, is that the youngest posters come in two extremes. Either totally Torah-oriented, meaningful, from the heart, and indeed wisdom that reflects beyond their age; or followers of the shallow liberal/modern ideology picked up from the latest edition of the New York Times. (The older posters do seem to come in greater varieties, with some middle ground.)
Its an interesting observation.
BogenParticipantWell, well, well look what we have here… the return if the G-man, eh G-boy!
And what do you know? Looks like my analysis here:
was right on the mark, denied as it was!
Give Darwin A Break.
BogenParticipantcantoresq,
Thanks for all that. Were the Neolog’s religious practices closer to today’s Orthodoxy or Conservative/Mosarati? And are there any meaningful practicing Neolog communities left? (BTW, the “status quo” practiced Judaism like the Orthodox [i.e. it was just a political division]? And what has become of them?) What caused the rift in 1868?
Where can I get Weinberger’s writing?
BogenParticipantTo all those I missed… sorry!
mdlevine: What is there to say; the name says it all! Happy Birthday!
kitzur_dot_net: Torah is the beste sechora.
noitallmr: Ye’ know it all, theres nothin’ to add.

charlie brown: You are some character…

havesomeseichel: We all look up to you.
Now who have I missed/offended??
Feel free to explain your own name… You chose it, not me!
BogenParticipantHeimish/Yeshivish/Ashkenaz
cantoresq: Can you explain (to the non-Hungarians) who/what the Neolog’s where? Are they somewhat akin to todays Conservative/Mosarati’s? What were there beliefs? (And what about the “Status Quo”? When did they disappear, why, how where they different?) Do they still exist in meaningful numbers? Were they only in Hungary?
rabbiofberlin: That sounds quite “mixed up”! What are you… a heimishe litvak of sefardic heritage?
yoshi: How are you 1/3, 1/3, & 1/3!?!? Heritage can be broken in 1/2’s or 1/4’s (or 1/8’s, etc.) But 1/3’s are impossible!! (And what is “other” anyways that you speak of?)
I could pretty much guess most posters affiliations.
Why not post yourself, it would be interesting!
BogenParticipantHire a bunch of additional moderators so comments post within a reasonable timeframe. (Especially for those of us outside the US of A, who have long no-post periods.)
BogenParticipantCharles Schwab – I’m your customer!
cantoresq – Is cantorial music merely your passion, or do you practice it?
Nobody – time to boost your self-esteem. You are a somebody.
squeak – is that some kinda rubberducky toy my kids play in the tub?? Or what exactly do you represent?
smartcookie – why not upgrade to genius? 🙂
gavra_at_work – gavra?
TOHIGHSCHOOLGUY – Is “TO” the initials of your school?
oomis1105 – 1105?
000646 – What are those 000’s for?
sammygol – whats the gol all about?
rabbiofberlin – why did you retire that position?
The Rabbis daughters – how many daughters are there?
jphone – why not iphone?
I can only try – you seem to have given up (your only in the riddle threads these days)
Feif Un – what on earth??

BogenParticipantThis is 100% Toras Emes.
BogenParticipantMy question is as follows. We all know traditionalists will never do any of these neo-feminist pseudo-religious ideas.
So why are we discussing hypothetics that is essentially limited, in practice, to the fringes?
BogenParticipantAnd of course, the Gedolim both in Eretz Yisroel and America have assured a Jew’s books that tried to peddle evolution as being compatible with the Torah.
The Gedolim have made clear that evolution is kefira and Keneged HaTorah HaKedosha.
BogenParticipantshindy: Good point!
I went through the “normal channels” in frum society, ~ 25, born and bred in Flatbush, grew up there and went to school there all my life, by blood from pre-war Chasidic shtetl’s, don standard suit, tie & hat (as all of family does), Yeshivas were like that too, always davened in a local shtiebel, still live locally, mostly self-taught in secular studies (though have a BS), work in financial services, light computer gamer, collect stamps, anything else?
Ok, your up! Don’t be bashful…
BogenParticipantAnd of course, the Gedolim both in Eretz Yisroel and America have assured a Jew’s (Mr. Slifkin) books that tried to peddle evolution as being compatible with the Torah.
The Gedolim have made clear that evolution is kefira and Keneged HaTorah HaKedosha.
BogenParticipantincluding family background, hobbies, what you enjoy…
BogenParticipantEvolution is just a theory, not a fact. (And a false theory, at that.)
Past evidence for evolution has been overturned. In the past, major scientific revolutions have overturned theories that were at the time considered factual.
In the past there have been scientific hoaxes regarding evolution, such as the Piltdown Man forgery.
Pieces of “evidence” for evolution such as Ernst Haeckel’s 19th-century embryo drawings, were not merely “scientific errors” but frauds; Biology textbooks have continued to reproduce such “evidence” long after it had been debunked.
Evolution is a pseudo-religion (evolution is based on faith, supporters of evolution revere Charles Darwin as a prophet, and supporters of evolution dogmatically reject alternative suggestions out-of-hand.)
Evolution is “unfalsifiable” (there is no tests that could be made that would demonstrate that the statement is false). Any “fact” can be “fitted” into the evolutionary framework. Past events of speciation are not observable and repeatable, and therefore evolution is not falsifiable. In 1976, Popper himself said that “Darwinism is not a testable scientific theory but a metaphysical research programme”.
November 12, 2008 12:16 am at 12:16 am in reply to: Georgia Congressman Warns of Obama Dictatorship #642486BogenParticipantReport: Hamas says its officials met Obama aides before U.S. election
By Avi Issacharoff, Haaretz Correspondent
The Arab daily Al-Hayat on Tuesday quoted a senior Hamas official as saying that United States President-elect Barack Obama’s advisors met with members of the Palestinian militant group before the U.S. presidential election.
Ahmed Yusuf, a political advisor to Hamas’ Gaza leader Ismail Haniyeh, reportedly told the London-based paper that, “The connection was made via email and after that we met with them in Gaza.”
Al-Hayat reported that Yusuf also said the relations were maintained after Obama’s electoral victory last Tuesday. He said the president-elect’s advisors requested that the relations be kept secret so as not to aid his rival, Senator John McCain.
During Obama’s campaign, he pledged that his administration would only hold talks with Hamas if it renounced terrorism, recognized Israel’s right to exist, and abided by past agreements.
On Saturday, Hamas political bureau chief Khaled Meshal told Sky News that he is willing to hold talks with Obama, and that he is challenging the newly elected leader to follow through on past statements indicating a willingness to sit down with America’s chief adversaries on the world stage.

Patience is a virtue.
Do you support aborting the unborn fetuses of animals, or just human abortion?
BogenParticipantgmab:
All we have is conjecture with your secretive posture. But STILL, no need to get all bent out of shape and repeat yourself twice and respond 3 times to a simple thought.
BogenParticipantI get the strong sense that gmab is at home with his parents, behind their YeshivaNet controlled access, who have no idea what kind of mischief he is up to here. They feel safe with YeshivaNet, but gmab being the klieger kinnd he is, wants to show he can be up to no good even WITH that service.
BogenParticipantGive gmab a break. Maybe he’s an alte bochor and doesn’t want to discuss…

Learn to love it.
BogenParticipantthe oilam notes with much satisfaction that sammygol has made the leap from blog to forum, and we welcome him to the coffee room for the very first time!
round of applause please! you may all take your seats now…
BogenParticipantItzik,
I’m not sure they are trolls, as much as they are genuinely krum. They literally live, breath, and bought hook line and sinker into the egalitarian American secular culture with all its excesses and immoralities. And then they actually try to make their egalitarianism and secularism and immoralism into the new age Torah no less! And even worse propogate it and attempt to annihilate any true rendition of the Torah.
Literally on this very site you have more than a handful of such unashamed posters. I venture to say that in online forums they outnumber Torah True individuals. (Probably as a result of many Torah True Yidden eschewing usage of the internet.)
