I beleive Baker Brook and the hotels around that area down the road from the Arlington still have minyanim. When I was last there as a kid and then over sevaral decades, one hotel owner put up a shul tent to attract a frum crowd.

Yserbius123 is correct. Every Yid with a clearance and had access to that compartment fully agree that he gave away very serious stuff, and he should NOT be pardoned.. On court record he told the sentencing judge that “you have no power over me”.

This also has prevented yidden who retired from DoD from obtaining consulting positions with the IDF and other Israeli military industries.

The yentas running around have no clue what he did.

If every restaraunt would serve quality, appropriate portions at the appropriate price points for that cuisine/venue, and provided excellent customer service no matter what the location. this topic would not be an issue. Mir has an overall excellent reputation which keeps bochrim coming to learn despite a percentage that falls through the cracks

    As an Uber driver:
    Jewish – Rabbi Yaakov Horowitz
Non-Jewish – Some football player. Didn’t know he was choshuv until I arrived at the stadium, all the guards jumped to attention and directed me down under to the tunnel where the players run out. I was told he was some dude. Ver Vais

    On a trip to EY:
R’ Sheinman z”l .to receive a bracha before maariv. What was very nice was that the gabbai took our cell phones and took a billion pictures of myself and my twin boys giving sholom. A big chesed and the highlight of our 2 week tour.

Not sure why tge rest of my post did not appear.

There is nothing ILLEGAL about passing a bus with the yellow lights. People who do so are trying to beat the red lights

    Passing a Stopped School Bus
In New York, it is mandatory for motorists to stop for school buses that have their red warning lights activated, whether they are approaching or following a school bus.

If the bus has its yellow lights flashing, that means the bus is preparing to stop.

By law, a driver approaching a school bus must stop from either direction when encountering a school bus in the process of loading or unloading students:

Are you saying they are using the RED flashing light with the RED STOP sign out and flashing?
Or are you referring to the YELLOW lights that warn drivers that they are about to stop???
Can you please post actual footage of this accusation?

Agree with all of the above and…

    I’m lost.

Where is this money coming from? You are working? This is where budgeting helps. We have no idea what your income stream is and how this stacks up against your other expenses.

The last time I paid $126 for a meal was when my wife and I went out for our 25th wedding anniversary. I am from OOT, but R/T bus fare was $60, used GETT promo codes to essentially get chauffered around Manhattan for free, found “The Tour” bus tickets on 1/2 price special, ditto for an escape room, then bought tickets from reliable online broker for “Shear Madness” also for close to 1/2 off and picked up dinner to go with a Groupon. It took time and research and a lot of Googling but for about $150/person we had a very nice day trip to the city.

With a little planning and research BEFORE going out, you should not be spending anything close to the astronomical sums you mentioned.

Charles Schwab has an account that has no foreign transacation fees and ALL ATM fees rebated monthly, even overseas. You can link it to your local bank account, and you daughter can pull the money out over there. No minimum balances.

The rep I dealt with can be reached at their direct line 888-863-8190. I already explained the seminary situation

    Happy19,

As a father of a HS senior, I can share what we have found out so far:

New Gateshead I do not beleive you can remain there for yom tov or breaks. The kids are mostly European and return home. Unless you have relatives in England, you’ll need to budget for additonal flights home.

P’ninim I understand has gotten more selective during the application process. I don’t beleive there is a lot of out-of-classroom work, but their schedule looks like the other seminaries, and there are night classes as well. It had a BY hashkafa, and the staff is devoted to the student body.

Meohr I understand has a larger crowd than Ateres. Both seem to have a higher level of text learning and work. I do not beleive Meohr has been here in the US to tour yet. Both are known for working closely with each student.

In addition to posting to the board, I’m old school and prefer the phone. We have been calling recent alumni and students we know are in Israel to get feedback. Ask, ask ask!

Teacher had her spectacles up on top of her head and distance glasses on her nose. Teacher tells class she can’t find her glasses. Total pandemonium as we all scatter to all corners of the building to look for them.

Not a teacher prank, but it was common on the first “in shabbos” of an out-of-town high school to tell a freshie to open the aron kodesh for Anim Zemiros (not said there). The mizrach vant learned over the years how to read the body language

No such thing as an “orange” light.

Yellow means slow down as the light was about to change. Did you floor it to make it through the intersection? Or did you hit the brakes but were unable to stop in time? Were you doing the speed limit?

The Brick cops have been featured on “Speeders” on Court TV

    Mr./Mrs. Happy,

The individual in question was asking for advice. Slapping a potch in ponim like you did just now won’t help. Perhaps your suggestions for starting a conversation is enough, while pointing out the fact that kibud av is important. Simple.

As a parent, I would be quite concerned if my child perceived me in this manner. If you read Rabbi Horowitz’s columns on a regular basis, this kind of stuff is what starts kids on “at risk” problems.

From your diatribe, it seems that standard equipment in your house may be a pegboard with a whip & paddle.

zfeld is 100% correct. As a tuition committee chair, we see that scenario way too often.

    *soapbox*

And for heaven’s sake, when you write a resume check you grammar, punctuation, etc! Give it to someone you know that is a manager to critique it. Be specific as to what you are looking for, or tailor the resume to show you have experience in the area being posted for. Telling someone “I’ll do anything” won’t register anything in someone’s kop, you need an “elevator statement”! I get resumes all the time from frum people that I cannot make heads or tails of (I am an experienced underwater basket weaver looking to publish seforim”). Your resume should have cause and effect statements; i.e. “I wrote a program in GrubbaKop to count beans, saving the company $205K in outsourcing costs” makes a bigger roshem than “Experience in GrubbaKop programmatic methods”.

    *off soapbox*

I can tell you getting a Master’s from a “name brand” university has made a huge difference in salary, and alumni recognize that.
