    1) My sisters together made me a recipe book of all their best tried and true recipes, supper ideas etc. I have a nice collection of store bought recipe books, I use this the most!

Though it is work writing each recipe. In the beginning I loved making a recipe and figuring out whose handwriting it is.

    2) Another nice idea is a clock with her wedding invitation/chosson kallah picture as the background, there are a lot of stores that make that.

A cute Hafrashas challah to hang up in the kitchen, you can get a decorative one in any Judaica store, alternatively, the same idea in a AL ahmichya. Anything she hangs in her kitchen will be a constant reminder of u!!

WolfishMusings, honestly what I find interesting is that you always manage to post on how amazing your marriage is, how you and your wife love each other etc… and how good you are to your kids and vs versa. I always found it wierd how someone with so much love in life can think so lowly of themself.

If everyone around you is so in love with you, certainly without even knowing you, there must be something wonderful to love.

WolfishMusings, If you really believe you did so many things wrong and you think you are a rasha based on your actions above, I encourage you to get in touch with an orthodox Rav. You are missing out on the beauty of yiddishkeit, and you are misunderstanding halacha. You are a smart person so it’s a shame to miss out.

My pictures came out stunning, but the videographer messed up. He took tons of videos of the food at teh shmorg, of every salad, so we have very little of the pple at the kabalas panim. A lot of video during dancing is of the band playing, again, not of the pple.

There is nothing he can do about it, he simply missed those moments. He wasnt able to capture the wedding on video. We just have to be happy with our album which is B”H beautiful.

I can’t help thinking that Obama will win only bec he is black and he is Muslim, the blacks are a major popularity and they just vote for a black president even if he is not qualified.

And the Muslims want a Muslim in office.

I dont know how much of a shot these guys actually have!

About 7-8 months ago my relative that needs a shidduch was zoche to get a bracha from him in his home, just a few weeks before he was hospitalized.

After reading Reb. Kanievsky’s book (published by Artscroll) I feel a deeper connection to Rav Elyashiv, I fee like I “know” the mishpacha a bit.

    Been there done that…

I aso gained 50 pounds by my first preg. i went from 130 to 180 not kidding!!!

By my sons bris, a family friend came over to me and told me “wow you looked so distorted! slowly you will get back to yourself!”

I was never a gym type bec I was always so thin. When my son was 2 months I started the gym. By the time he was 7 months I was back to myself. I find you dont start losing from nursing until the baby is 5 months old and nursing a substantial amount. BTW, Not e/o loses weight from nursing.

It took me a couple of months to lose, after all, it took 9 months to gain! But I did lose all my weight in time for my next pregnancy, and the second time around I was careful not to gain so much weight. I did it and I know others that did too after gaining this amount. Keep positive, eat healthy, drink a lot and IY”H you will see results.

    Enjoy your precious gift!

How about go out to eat in a fancy restaurant, take a babysitter and do it all the way. Speak to the restaurant before you go, drop off balloons make sure dessert comes out with a bang. Sometimes its not physical things that make a day but its the moments you spend together and cherish.

It irks me when I hear the German Language. I live in EY in a neighborhood with many Europeans. The Vienese especially speak German as a first language. When I hear little kids speaking German, it spooks me out!

Of course, I like English best.

I must add that I appreciate Yiddish very much since I find it is a language that unites, wherever we come from, there is a common language….

kollel_wife and Oomis, It is nice when feelings are understood and validated. I just joined a Tiferes group which hasnt started yet, but I signed up to one in the building next door. Tiferes is a project of chofetz chaim heritage foundation where you watch a shiur on a cd with a group of neighbors. Not that I have extra time at night, nor do I have the concentration needed to follow a shiur at that hour but its only once a month and I hope it will somewhat satisfy my social cravings….

If you dont mind making your food processor dirty for a can on tuna, put the tuna and mayo inside and it will be a great texture. I once had to mash like 12 eggs for a melave malka and I did it in the food processor, it came out really smooth.

For all those of you that suggested I invite kids over for a playdate, the kids come without their parents. My neighbors children are always over at my house and my children go to them, I live in an apt building. That doesnt help my own social circles.

Sometimes I feel silly when this bothers me, I B”H have a great husband and am busy with work and family, but I still would like to have some friends for hanging out, not even for deep late night talks.

oomis1105, I heard that AJ Madison in BP has “hard to find sized” ovens. You might want to try them to see if you can actually replace your wall oven since a counter top oven will probably not be as good.

Thanks for the opinions and sympathy. I live in an apt building, I make sure to be very friendly to my neighbors and I have a nice relationship with them, but since I am work, and then get busy with the kids I am not the type that is constantly bumping into pple.

I don’t work on Sundays and I do go to the park with my children which is great for shmoozing, but I don’t feel like a have any close friends. Just someone to call in the morning (I had no work bec electricty is down) and say “Wanna go out for a cup of coffee?”

Pple do not such cool things but if they are confident with themselves it doesnt come across nerdy.

If both husband and wife work they can support themselves even at a young age 19-20. Before you have a large family a young couple can be very in control of their expenses. They don’t “suddenly” have money. They work and pay off their expenses.

BTW, Not every young couple has a car, or lives in a 2 story ranch.

What single carriage do you have? There are some single carriages that have an option to add a second seat. The city classic and the Uppa Baby are two such carriages that I know of.

Before you buy a buggy board try your child out on someone elses to see if they like it. My son doesn’t. He is almost three, he would rather walk or sit in the carriage than stand ont he board.
