October 13, 2010 4:00 pm at 4:00 pm in reply to: Why do some wives (newlyweds) act like Mashgichim to their husbands? #701930PosterMemberI know of a guy that told his chavrusa that the only day he can stick in a shmooze during seder is on sundays cuz thats the day his wife has off from work. He said he feels very guilty shmoozing while she is working to support his learning.

September 15, 2010 4:07 pm at 4:07 pm in reply to: Why don't heimeishe ladies use baby slings to schlep babies? #696183PosterMemberI tried wearing it with my oldest son and he was very uncomfotable and so was I. So since then I have it stored away. I like a stroller better, just feels lighter.
apushatayid, thanks for a good laugh.
PosterMemberI got adorable clothing in Carters in Jersey Gardens outlet mall before the summer. I stocked up on cute t-shirts which were about 10- each, and PJS which were also very cheap. Carters will probably be one of my stops when it comes to winter shopping as well. Their stuff washes very well.
PosterMemberAWEOME!! We really enjoy it!! Thank you!
Gut Gibensht Yur!!!
PosterMemberA frined told me that her son asked her, “Ma, open your mouth as big as you can…” after she did she asked him why he wanted her to do this. He said. ” I just wanted to see how its possible that a baby can fit out of there!”
PosterMemberi have neighbor that teaches in a school for a number of years and lately they were not able to pay her. So she went over to a diff rich neighbor that sends their child to that school and pays full tuition and tog they approached the board of school and insisted that the neighbor give the teacher the tuition each month. The board agreed. So she gets paid for her teaching from a neighbor who pays her instead of giving the tuition to the school
September 1, 2010 3:03 pm at 3:03 pm in reply to: Custom or very good sheitles for under $1000 #739986PosterMemberWe had a black nurse that wore a wig. She told us “I got this for $25, I think that is a reasonable price”. Reasonable indeed!
August 31, 2010 6:36 pm at 6:36 pm in reply to: Custom or very good sheitles for under $1000 #739976PosterMemberI am not kidding. I just read the ad in the Israeli English Hamodia. The famous Galit Italia is starting to lease sheitels. Like I wrote, you pay per month and sign for a year. After a year you can trade the wig or keep it if you like it. It seems that payment per month includes wash n set and a couple of other stuff.
They gotta keep coming up with new ideas!

PosterMemberBarnes and Nobles should be able to help you with some reading material.
PosterMemberAnd I thought it was something about Shefa Shuk in Israel….!
PosterMemberThat place brings back the nicest memories. I went there as a little kid. I cant believe the addmission is that expensive!!! Imagine going with a couple of kids. Google it online, there has got to be coupons…
PosterMemberIt’s like chuckling….
PosterMemberIMO, the best occupation is the one that brings in $$$$ in a reasonable setting with reasonable hours….From what I see, the job that seem to be most lucrative is owning a nursing home(s). I know pple that are very wealthy from real estate as well.
PosterMemberIt is something that one cannot judge or give opinion unless they are in that situation. Though I do have a cousin that skipped his brother, yes, it was very painful, but they needed diff types of girls. B’chasdei Hashem, the younger brother’s wife was the shadchan for the older brother.
PosterMemberI am really enjoying it! I told my husband after this week’s chapter how amazing it is that you never know what is going on by the next person. Pple live the most seemingly perfect lives.
PosterMembersms007, you sound like me. Sometimes I feel so lazy. I did loads of laundry, but i am too lazy to fold any of it.
whatrutalkingabt, I totally agree about the dishes, if you let it pile up – forget about ever doing it.
PosterMemberi have an nglish name that slightly resembles my hebrew name. All legal documents have this name. I only gave my children hebrew names.
PosterMemberSince I live in very American neighborhood in Israel I didnt really pick up Hebrew. Once I had to go to a certain specialist, I had to give him a very specific message as to why I was told to come to him. In the examining room only the patient is allowed so my husband could not come in with me. The whole way in the car my husband dictated what I should tell the specialist. I practiced and practiced so that it would come out sounding natural. I was very nearvous not to mess up. I got into the doctor and I started my speech, the doctor interjects, “I speak English!” in a perfect American accent. (probably made an Aliyah)

PosterMemberHow about a Litvishe girl marrying a chassidishe boy or vs versa. I know this is not as different but there are many adjusments there as well.
PosterMemberAt one point my doctor advised me to get off of sugar, I asked him about splenda he told me no problem.
PosterMemberSJSinNYC, I did see my chosson while we were engaged. We would never go bowling or to arcades. We met in a hotel type of thing and he came over to my house to visit and we sat in the dining room over drinks. We spoke to keep the connection, but such meetings would never come to touching, even by mistake.
PosterMemberso right, I so agree with you, that we must be from the same circles. Many couples are ashamed to admit. Bumping into you chosson even unintentionally is not allowed, that is just the point. We dont hang around “forbidden men” so as not to come in contact intentionally or unintentionally.
PosterMemberSJSinNYC, Do you know that as a fact?
PosterMemberI loved Stratego! I say it in past tense since I havn’t played the game in years!
