posekMemberI bought four tickets. Look, Im no kannai but I am sure not going to be the one who mocks legitimate gedolim and good people, who are trying to do something good.
posekMemberI think every one knows theres no more comparison, Ami looked promising but couldnt sustain it. Mishpacha somehow manages to deliver, week after week.
I stopped buying Ami and now go with just Mishpacha.

The article concluded like that, an idea to form kind of a union to make sure they get fair contracts.

They do have a rov, Rav Neustadt of Detroit, whom I know and respect very much.
I happen to love the Mishpacha, but thought the piece this week with Rav Schachter about the batei din and toanim was pushing the envelope a bit.
July 14, 2011 5:47 pm at 5:47 pm in reply to: Is Mishpacha Magazine Considered Left-of-Center? #866981posekMemberAmi is more daring and edgy then Mishpacha, catering to a different market I think.
I have a son in law by Rav Shlesinger in Monsey I know what he said, he was against article about the Rambams father they once published and they apologized it was a mistake, a story by Chaimn Walder published in a supplement.
Mishpacha has a rov.
July 14, 2011 4:51 am at 4:51 am in reply to: Is Mishpacha Magazine Considered Left-of-Center? #866974posekMemberMishpacha, IMHO, has managed to be Torahdik and filled with Jewish taam even as they tackle real issues in a real way. They are accepted by the mainstream, from Willie to Lakewood, but also in Teaneck and all over Europe.
The fact that major league gedolim, rebbes and rabbanim give them interviews all the time tells you that they are center, for sure.
Yated, HAmodia are to the right of them though, for sure.
posekMemberThe Artscroll book In Black and White. A classic.
posekMemberI thought the letter was the best and most honest thing Ive ever read on the subject

February 13, 2011 5:15 am at 5:15 am in reply to: Anyone read shloimy dachs article in Mishpach about divorce? #740536posekMemberI have endless respect for him for agreeing and know from people first-hand that were helped from his message. He is a hero for using his public persona to assist others in trouble,
posekMemberMishpacha all the way. I find that its on a different level then anything else, even its imitators. (The new one I stopped buying, they cant decide if they are modern or chassidish) In newspapers probably Hamodia is my best.
posekMemberYehuda Green all the way
posekMemberThe book Reb Shlomo about Rabbi Freifeld might just the one you seek, Ive never read another book quite like it. Its like an encyclopedia of Jewish conduct.
December 31, 2010 2:32 am at 2:32 am in reply to: Anyone understand how Mishpacha pulls it off? #722855posekMemberInteresting post, I am amazed how they manage to pull it off week after week, always interesting and deep.
Whats cool is they didn’t miss a single week despite the fact that the editor left on a dime, they just kept marching on. There were all kinds of rumors back then, but they seem quite ok.
