Of course. But the numbers only say as much as they say.

So, what do they say? What percentage falls into what percentage?

Who cares if it is rude?

Just think about if you want the consequences.

Do you want the rabbi to think you are deliberately snubbing him?

you have to know how to write for everything! everything involves reaction papers, term papers and that is the majority of teh grade.

    Why would you say that?

Most law school classes are graded solely on a single final exam with no papers.

    Also,

It is commonly held that NYU (almost?) never takes BTL’s.

If you have high 170s, you will definitely get into Fordham with money, but you will be selling yourself short by doing so.

Really, don’t let these guys scare you about the writing. I know plenty of yeshiva guys with no college who went to law school. I never heard one complaining about lacking writing skills.

If Fordham did a study that most BTL’s are in the bottom half of the class, I would want to know what the numbers were. The bottom half of the class is 50% of the class. If 60% of BTL’s were in the bottom half, that is not so shocking as to make it a very big deal.

Many people get an LLM in Tax from a “good” school to beef up their creds after earning a JD from a weaker school.

This second degree is commonly earned from NYU.

I like bris food. I wish I could go to a bris every day and leave before the speeches. Maybe I’ll become a mohel.

Which reminds me, my friend is a mohel, and once was at a bris his father was doing (his father is also a mohel), and they both made a bagel sandwich, whereupon the father pulled out two diapers for them to wrap the sandwiches in.

I think you should leave without telling them, and pretend you never left when you come back.

With enough reinforcement, they’ll block out the memory and it will never make a difference.

The same person I referred to before with the BTL who didn’t get into a top 6, is doing really well in his top 14 school. His professors seem to be fine with “mamish no contract”.

Again, I think you should pay for a consultant.

Also, if you are thinking about next year- forget it, you’re too late.

Also, you should really expand your horizon beyond NY.

Think Chicago (x2), Philadelphia, Detroit, D.C. (Besides for Boston and New Haven)

Soldiers are required to wear a uniform because it destroys their individuality and melds them into a cohesive whole.

I am not in favor of doing that to my kids.

I have to post on this thread what I post on all these threads.

You cannot pretend that learning part time is the same as learning full time.

You cannot pretend that learning for 5 years is the same as learning for 10.

You are perfectly entitled to believe what you want about the relative importance of learning and secular studies, but it behooves you to state clearly your position on that, and not try to make as if you have bridged the gap.

Yes, you are not guaranteed to get in. I know of a someone with a 176 who did not get in to any of the top 6 with a BTL.

You should hire a admissions consultant.

    Bowwow:

Usually, nobody offers to direct me to a seat.

Also, often the seats that are available have name plates and the seats that are not don’t have name plates.

Also, if I come late, there is more of a reason why I can sit anywhere and assume the guy is not coming.

Also, are you indignant because there is an inyan of “makom kavua” or because it is “your seat”?

Also, I am not brash at all. You don’t own the seat. And if in your shul the people consider it that they do own the seat, you should have a sign on the door that says “KHAL ANSHEI S’DOM” so I’ll know not to come.

    Bowwow:

I have never sat in the Rav’s seat, but to be fair, I never wanted to. So I don’t know what I would do if I wanted to.

If there is a talis bag on the seat, I would not move it and sit down.

If there are name plates on the seat, I would sit there anyway.

I think I am acting fine and normally. I think I am permitted to sit down even though I am a guest, and every seat is as likely to be someone’s seat as the next.

If you don’t like it, daven at home.

When I go to a shul which I don’t usually daven in, I just sit down wherever I like and it is too bad on whoever usually sits there.

popa? whats with the third party? look like the CR is getting to you. “Shenl!” go grab a decaf coffee. Ad a shot of bourbon to cool the nerves.

Popa always talks in third person. That is because the Popa personality has morphed into its own existence next to the regular person of the guy who writes Popa.

I do drink decaf, and bourbon is good. But I am really more of a scotch guy.

    s2021 makes a good point.

Popa anyway thinks uniforms are stupid.

The way you dress is very important to how you feel. I think we should let kids dress in a way that will make them feel good.

I am a guy and don’t really understand the relationship women have with clothes. However, when I put something nice on, I feel good about myself. When I dress formally, I feel formal.

Firstly, I am from the school that does not believe chemical imbalance is the cause of most normal mental illness.

Secondly, stigma’s are not random. The reason people fear mental illness is because you can be hurt by it. You are less hurt by your spouse being fat- especially if you knew beforehand.

As it happens, I think the stigma attached to mental illness goes beyond what is rational.

Popa does not know why, but thinks it is a positive development.

Divorce is better than a bad marriage. Until now, divorce was such taboo that probably many people stayed in miserable marriages that they should have left.

Also, the option of divorce is what makes working on your marriage possible. G-d created divorce for a reason. I think part of that reason is that people feel more able to deal with things when they do so willingly rather than being forced to.

It is not a problem at all.

You are allowed to wear shaatnez to try it on.

Generally, you are allowed to wear shaatnez for any reason which is not that you want to benefit from wearing it.

So, for example the mishna says you can wear shaatnez if you are doing so while crossing a border and trying to avoid paying taxes on your merchandise by pretending it is your clothes.
