    without kavana the neder/shavua is invalid, as ??? ??? ????? ?????

In all cases? Do we never say that ????? ???? ???? ??????

nedarim has been a while for me, but I’m recalling the 4 cases which don’t need hatara (nidrei zeruzin, etc.), and those were all cases where it is apparent to other people that you don’t mean it, if they know what is going on. Aren’t they?

see eg. the first ?? on 21a

Any day now you should get a hallowed application moderator form in the mail. Poppa also did!

Is that what that letter from ConEd was? I thought it was a bill and chucked it.

Advertise in shul that you have a petting zoo in your house. Then, let kids hold and feed your nieces and nephews. You can sell handfuls of cheerios.

So I was in a city for shabbos recently, and they have an eruv.

So I asked who the rav hamachshir of the eruv is. It is the local YCT rabbi of the local shul.

So I didn’t use the eruv. Even forgetting any hashkafa issues, an ?? ???? cannot be a rav hamachshir on an eruv.

(Aside: My brother was once out of town somewhere, and called a mikva and asked who the rav hamachshir was. The response: “If you’re asking, you don’t want to use this mikva.”)

Tzir is the bloody juice that comes out when you salt meat to kasher it.

Tzirel is that, with the “el” added on. Like Berel is Ber, or like Dovidel is Dovid.

Sukkos was put in the cold season by design by Hashem. The sleeping in the Sukkah halachos are despite that.

Yet, the halacha still is that mitztaer is pattur from sukka.

It is so cool what you can do when you learn halacha from halacha seforim instead of from third grade.

I hope you didn’t really do that.

If you make a neder, even as a joke, it is a neder.

Now, you said you are making a neder not to eat. That would actually be a shevua, since you made an ???? ????. So that may be a way out- I haven’t learned nedarim in a while.

If you really did this; Call a posek quick.

PBA: You were Yotzei before this. Although if that was really your intention then this would be an Aveirah Lishmah and not count.

I thought I might have been, but I was mesupak. I’m very machmir, you know.

Also, I didn’t follow the aveira lishma thread, so I don’t know what you’re talking about.

PBA- is this in honor of (Yom Haki..)..Purim?

It’s also because I’m machmir to not say anything in vidui that I didn’t do. And I’m mesupak if I was yotzei ???? yet this year.

Oy, then all your past nedarim and shevuos were not mikkayim the todah.

I said at the end, with tnai kaful, and tnai kodem l’maaseh, and just like bnai gad and reuvan, that if anything I said would make it not work, then that part of what I said shouldn’t count- as long as it wouldn’t result in me being oiver on any issurim. So it does work.

My goy “kohen” is getting real excited. He loves yom kippur. (on yontiff, I do it myself and I eat from each one. He only does the olah’s.)

This should make you realize who is throwing rocks.

There is nobody who is so frum that they think you can’t drive an ambulance on shabbos (ok, maybe joseph).

The rock throwers are not frum people. They are the at risk kids. They think it’s fun. (It probably is fun)

You want misinformation, try the tanach thread.

Yes, you will not get good information by asking strangers.

The best way is to ask the person themselves, once you have a relationship. Unfortunately, there is a view- which was expressed on this forum some time ago- that it is ok to hide things from your potential spouse.

This will lead to many broken homes.

I have another tanach question: This one is based on parshas acharei mos, and parshas ki tezte.

How does a ??? ??? become pattur from yibum and assur to the yuvum?

Is it that she is just pattur because of the passuk ?????, and then she is therefore an eishes ach?

Or is it that the passuk of ????? actually makes her an ervah?

(In other words, why is knowing tanach limited to the stories? What about the rest of it?

(In more words, there is no reason to be embarrassed if you thought I was telling the truth. I was pretty convincing. Sam2 is just made he didn’t think of it.)

And this was revenge on adorable for not telling us her funny line about the stale bread last night.

Wood alcohol appears the same as perfectly drinkable “96.”

I once heard a joke about this. A old chassid who drinks only zektz und neintziker goes to the doctor for because he has a cough.

The doctor tells him he has “water on the lung.”

Chassid says, “Water? I knew it! It’s that feer percent!”

I happen to think that a lot of the New Yorkers are really nice people…Dont just call the New Yorkers (like Me) mean or evil or nasty people…Try to find the good in the New Yorkers not the bad!!

That is what we are doing. If people want to find the good, they need to know where to look. So we are telling people not to bother looking for good manners.

Would you say the same about a Jew who just happens to go to a Unitarian church?

Or a messianic jewish congregation. And suppose he doesn’t believe in yushke, he just likes that they let his wife say kaddish.

Sam: Your stories don’t make sense.

Going to a conservative shul is like going to a church. Someone who would go to a conservative shul because she wants to give a women’s shiur, is not normal. (Plenty of women give shiurim to women- this story makes no sense anyway. ????? ??? ?? ??? ???? ???).

Likewise for saying kaddish. While I empathize with a woman who does not have a brother to say kaddish for her parents, going to a conservative shul over it is just strange.

I happen to know a little about this issue.

In American law, the courts will generally uphold “click-wrap” licenses, where the website forces you to “click” that you accept the terms- even though nobody reads it.

A situation like this one is much more shaky. If it didn’t say anywhere on the screen that there are rules, I would say it is pashut there is no contract.

But it does say “RULES OF THE CR”. So maybe this is different than Specht. Who knows. (What if you clicked on a link from the main page straight to a thread, and never saw the rules? Who knows?)

I was questioning above whether under Halacha there could be a contract, since there is no kinyan. That may have a clearer answer, but I don’t know it.
