I think you should consider Highland Park. It is much closer to Princeton. Also, I think that you would fit in better in Highland Park.
The Agudah davens in nusach sfard. Also, there is a sheitbel. There is a wide variety of people ranging from very modern to kollel families. There are also a lot of baalei tshuva. Many are professional but yeshivish. In many families, both spouses are professional. Many of the men were colored shirts. Some wear black and white.
Lakewood has a lot of young couples (early twenties); however, it sounds like you may not fit in with them. They are all going to be doing similar things (ie kollel and wife working to some extent). While people debate how open minded lakewood is, in general, you will not be doing the same things and people may look down on your backgrounds. You also may have a problem getting your future children into schools, as they are extremely selective in Lakewood.
