People think we can learn lessons only from highly censored bios of Gedolim; esoteric compilations portrayed through their own preconceived prisms, brushed over picture perfect. Nothing at all could be farther from the truth.
pixelateMemberin the world?
pixelateMemberI think the guy gave all the chickens laxaties before or something
pixelateMemberpixelateMemberreally nice! (though I would disagree with the generalization “today’s kids”)
pixelateMemberHe actually probably can become president.
Some interpret ‘natural born citizen’ to mean that their parent was born in the US, even though they weren’t. Ted Cruz also recently renounced his Canadian citizenship. He also has made some under-the-radar appearances in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina (the 3 first primary states in 2016).
pixelateMemberOne of the innately pre-developed abilities of a newborn is emotion. When they cry, the cooing of their parent is a way of communicating empathy, and calms them.
Imitating a baby in their face may cause them to stop crying, but I would wonder if it is beneficial for their emotional development.
I think the sunrise method is more to sympathize than to immitate like the OP.
pixelateMemberOomis- The reason they call erev y”k this year even though they called the past year, is to ask mechilah for asking mechilah on such a busy day.
pixelateMemberI also get ridiculously frivolous in my posts erev yom kippur. They tell me its the devil inside me, so I tell them that it’s coming out.
pixelateMemberI don’t think that if you eat the chickens you will get the aveiros of the person who did his kaparos on them.
pixelateMembermake sure you use a good Jewish guide book so you don’t end up unknowingly tour mary’s well and the path of jesus etc.
pixelateMemberjewishfeminist-
my husband goes to a T-14 school, so I am not worried about his prospects
What has better prospects,
1) Graduating as valedictorian at a not-so-good, local law school
2) Graduating middle-third at a semi-prestigious law school
3) Graduating bottom-bottom at a top tier?
Also besides for the competition, are the T-14 really harder material> don’t all law schools basically offer the same classes and exams?
Borough Park Mensch-
in your mind that I know only three lawyers which enables you to employ the typical Coffee Room snarkiness and declare, “Sounds like you barely know anyone.”
I couldn’t be sure, but at the time I thought squeak was joking.
pixelateMembershucks I missed it

pixelateMemberbenignuman- Everything else looks perfect

Which University in Columbia? lol
pixelateMemberIt is interesting that even in Lashon Hakodesh, redheads are called Edomi which means red, and not orange
pixelateMemberlololol
pixelateMemberEnder, Veltz,
Shucks, I was about to start charging for my advice.
But
1, how many classroom hrs do you need to leave, and
2, could the classrm credits come from another college in L1, and
3, also, does the school you’re transferring to look at your LSATs?
pixelateMemberplaytime, I have a suggestion for you that I thought of which may be an fabulous idea, or may be very flawed- maybe the law schoolers here can tell.
1)Get a passing mark on your LSAT
2) Then join a very mediocre local law school for your first year.
3) Work very hard, and finish on the top of your class
4) Then, as a top student, transfer to one of the poison Ivy.
5) Then, once you’re registerd for L2, leave college to work for a supervising law firm- in place of college, and meanwhile study for the, um, bar (ouch),
6) And become an Ivy league graduate with a stellar record.
You lawschoolers, are my ‘6 steps to success’ laughably flawed?
pixelateMemberrebdoniel- Compounding the problem is the fact that frum society will call a bachelor with a career and his own home a “boy” even if he’s in his thirties.
Everywhere, the 30 yr. old unmarried guy is called a ‘boy’ and it is not exclusive to our community, and I don’t understand what would be wrong with that. But we call an unmarried man of any age a ‘buchor’ in an extremely positive sense. Since although he is unmarried, he still retains his individuality and responsibility on a personal level, without having to adhere to anything besides torah and mitzvos, that’s why we call him ‘chosen’, just like a budding 13 yr. old.
pixelateMemberMordechai Schmutter, your stuff is truly amazing, and you possess great talent. The most hysterical humor-article I’ve ever read was one of yours, about the stages of life. If you recall that one, can you please post it here and introduce the CR critics to your work.
pixelateMemberWhat are your shaalos?
pixelateMemberCan you post the lyrics here?
pixelateMember1 pkg. whole mustard seeds
JK
pixelateMemberCool!
pixelateMemberPersonally, I have no connection or feelings for the Royal Family, but I think there are things and concepts a Jew can learn from. We can better relate to the significance of dynastic ancestry and posterity.
The American way of all men are created equal, and the prevailing moral lewdness in society makes us so far-removed from appreciating the significance of ‘holy seed’.
The Jewish people are called a ‘Kingdom of Priests’, and along this privilege comes the responsibility of being the ‘light unto the nation of the world’.
This child will be born into English Royalty, but every Jewish child is born into the eternal royalty of the King of all kings.
pixelateMemberSam2 See the Tzitz Eliezer who goes out of his way…
OK, will see.
pixelateMemberSpeak to you Dr. and Rav. I know people who have a very hard time fasting, who practically lie in bed the whole day.
pixelateMemberI think Sam2 has the right idea. Based on the AH’s understanding of electricity, it is nothing more than extending Aish; the electrical current. The Chazon Ish,(a great and hidden scientist in his own right) vehemently disagreed, and rightly forbade flipping a light switch because of the Issur of Boneh, since you are creating a new circuit.
I have never heard that Rav Ovadia said Ein Limchos with regard to this. If the AH would have fully understood electricity, there is no question he would have agreed.
pixelateMemberThe Aruch Hashulchan paskens that you can turn on a light on Yom Tov. Nobody agrees to that.
