Pac / ManMember
I’m never in a bad mood.
Pac / ManMemberRuach Hakodesh.
Pac / ManMemberIn fact I believe it to be assur to get into theological discussions with worshippers of other religions.
Pac / ManMemberI don’t respond to quacks.
Pac / ManMemberDoes this Rabbi maintain that position if the parents are non-Jewish or only if they converted?
Pac / ManMemberOMG, CharlieHall joined Neteurei Karta!
Pac / ManMemberYes, I fast and wear sackcloth.
Pac / ManMemberToi: Did your Kallah ever hold open the door for you (and sometimes you for her)? Or did you always do the holding? If the latter, did you consider it rude of her for not holding the door open for you? If not, would you have considered it any more rude of yourself to not hold the door?
Pac / ManMemberadorable: Maybe ZeesKite can daven to find a cheap car on Craigslist?
Pac / ManMemberadorable:
ASK your boss if it is okay. If you’re afraid to ask, perhaps in your heart you know he doesn’t allow it.
Pac / ManMemberAs far as I’m concerened I’m talking to a computer, just like if I check my balance in the bank.
That logic can legitimize e-mailing and texting girls too.
NO IT CANNOT. THIS COFFEE ROOM IS HEAVILY MODERATED UNLIKE ANY OTHER ONLINE SOCIAL GROUP (MOD)
Pac / ManMemberI’ve gotten round-trip tickets for one-way trip. (Actually I used another airline for the reurn. It was cheaper that way.)
On a slightly different issue, I did read in the WSJ that some airlines won’t let you fly back on the return if you bought a ticket with a stop-over and just skipped the last leg of the trip (since you just needed it to get to the “transfer city” and it was cheaper that way.)
Pac / ManMemberMike: inter-gender socializing is assur min HaTorah lchol hadeios.
Pac / ManMemberRed: it is assur to socialize with the opposite gender.
Pac / ManMemberWasn’t Rav Shmuel on the Moetzes?
Pac / ManMemberThat too. But two wrongs don’t make a right. So even if that’s wrong, it doesn’t make what’s being discussed here right.
May 31, 2011 6:07 pm at 6:07 pm in reply to: Were not Chassidish at all, but we go to Rebbes for Brachos #773246Pac / ManMemberShe didn’t say he wouldn’t like it. She just said that she thinks that he thinks it is unnecessary. But that he is okay with the idea.
Pac / ManMemberThere are many excuses listed on multiple other threads discussing this exact issue. You can find an excuse for anything I suppose.
Pac / ManMemberSilent: It is not rude for a man to go before a woman. That is the Torah way. The other way is the goyish way.
Pac / ManMembermsseeker: Did you grow up Chasidish?
May 31, 2011 5:45 pm at 5:45 pm in reply to: Were not Chassidish at all, but we go to Rebbes for Brachos #773242Pac / ManMemberThe OP has said repeatedly her husband would NOT be upset if she shaved.
Pac / ManMemberHow many feet is 4 amos?
And what do you mean by “for those who are makpid on it”? That should be the same group who are “makpid” on kashrus.
Pac / ManMemberHaifa: how do you manage without?
Pac / ManMemberWhat did you ask for?
May 31, 2011 4:25 pm at 4:25 pm in reply to: Jastrow or Aramaic-Hebrew-English Dictionary (Melamed)? #1082853Pac / ManMemberThe Neolog movement is apikorses.
Pac / ManMemberRav Moshe’s heter was specific to the United States of America, based on its government policies.
Pac / ManMembercoffee addict: was that a backhanded promotion for a competitor?
May 31, 2011 4:10 pm at 4:10 pm in reply to: Were not Chassidish at all, but we go to Rebbes for Brachos #773225Pac / ManMemberbasket: Your comment doesn’t sound too Orthodox.
Pac / ManMemberaries: I’m sorry you feel halacha can be trampled on, but we Orthodox Jews don’t agree with you.
Pac / ManMemberRav Shach, Rab Berenbaum, Reb Elchonon Wasserman, Rav Avigdor Miller.
mdd: These Gedolim are part of that vast right-wing conspiracy of “farfrumed hashkofos” (as you call it) that you keep disparaging.
Otherwise, I do agree with your above point about the holocaust.
Pac / ManMemberayc: According to those that disagree with Rav Moshe, the milk he was matir is Cholov Akum (and effectively treif).
Pac / ManMemberZ’sdad: Because the medina is a maisa satan.
May 31, 2011 2:05 am at 2:05 am in reply to: Were not Chassidish at all, but we go to Rebbes for Brachos #773207Pac / ManMemberJosh: She wrote in the OP her husband is willing to go along with her shaving.
Pac / ManMemberayc: The OP challanged her date, insisting on going first. This discussion is, unfortunately, a necessary reminder of who goes first al pi Torah.
May 31, 2011 1:55 am at 1:55 am in reply to: Were not Chassidish at all, but we go to Rebbes for Brachos #773205Pac / ManMemberThe Chasam Sofer (see Dave Hirsch above) isn’t Chasidish.
Pac / ManMemberThere is no such thing in halacha as Cholov Stam. It is either Cholov Yisroel or Cholov Akum. The milk that Rav Moshe was matir, according to his shitta, has the same status (in a sense) as CY.
Pac / ManMembercoffee addict: The entire “lady’s first” idea is anathema to Yiddishkeit, and as we clearly see from this discussion it is outright against halacha.
Pac / ManMemberAkum means gentile. Any milk milked by a non-Jew with no Jewish supervision, is Cholov Akum.
May 30, 2011 11:15 pm at 11:15 pm in reply to: Were not Chassidish at all, but we go to Rebbes for Brachos #773198Pac / ManMemberI’m sure there are many Chasidishe Sheitelmacher’s who are more than familiar with it.
