Pac-ManMember
I said definitely a kosher one and possibly an invalidated one as well.
Pac-ManMemberI’m very discriminatory in my practices. But gender roles are not comparable to race roles. A woman’s place is not in the public arena.
Pac-ManMemberI didn’t ask him the reason. (Maybe it is tacky; I don’t know that there is a strict halachic problem. Also, I don’t recall with certitude if he was only referring to the kosher kesubah, or both the kosher and the invalidated kesubah.)
Pac-ManMemberTed Kaczynski ym’s had a 167 IQ when tested in 5th grade.
Pac-ManMemberDr. Pepper:
How many normal dates did you have, and what percent (hey, that’s up your alley!) were they of your total dates?
Pac-ManMemberDY: What if a Kohein has a child with his wife’s sister.
Pac-ManMemberr-b: If I recall it was regarding an older invalidated (due to an error) kesubah. He also added (disapprovingly) that he saw people hang up their (real) kesubah.
Pac-ManMemberbpt: They are pushing the hemline way past the limit.
Pac-ManMemberI could get one to hang up
I was told (by one of the Gedolei Poskim not as a psak but a comment) that a kesubah shouldn’t be hung up (i.e. on a wall).
Pac-ManMemberim not really here….
I almost could have sworn I saw you post earlier today…
Pac-ManMemberI didn’t really read 80’s order for me, until I just finished my lunch — of exactly that!
I also seem to recall 80, with eery accuracy, having read others thoughts, wishes, and desires over the past year or so.
80 also never acknowledged being a mekubel. But see the last line of his comment here:
Pac-ManMemberWB coke! You were missed for most of the year yourself until now.
Pac-ManMemberWould you like a ride in my Model-T?
Pac-ManMemberOne owner told me they pay a lot for gas ($130/week) but then again said that maybe they use it a lot for car pool etc.
That kind of makes a difference. Even the car with the best gas mileage ever made uses a lot of gas if you drive it a lot.
June 14, 2011 4:38 pm at 4:38 pm in reply to: Wouldnt the Mekubal see whats in store for Weiner? #776406Pac-ManMemberDel. Never mind. That is someone else. I believe there was a story about Weiner hooking up with the “Kabbalah Center” in Calif. that other meshuganas use.
Pac-ManMember(Besides the point that she is just a loudmouth.)
Pac-ManMemberI don’t vote for women in public office.
Pac-ManMemberHow about a Ferrari or a Lamborghini?
Pac-ManMemberthen fine, we choose to agree to disagree.
I choose to disagree with this point.
Pac-ManMemberPac-ManMemberSomehow, I doubt that. I don’t believe that that was the definition of Orthodox that you had in mind when you asked the question.
Okay, you know my intentions better than me. What do I want for lunch today?
Pac-ManMemberThe “best date ever”, by definition, must only be with the person you marry.
Pac-ManMemberBecause he is the man.
Pac-ManMemberapy: If we can bring the number of older singles in the Torah community to equal that number, we will have virtually eliminated the shidduch crisis — a most noble goal indeed.
Pac-ManMemberCall out to adorable, who has been missed for a while here.
Pac-ManMemberI believe the McDonald’s has its own little “space” to order that you don’t have to enter. Unless you are including the shared hallway area in considering that as having entered the restaurant. Otherwise some perhaps inadvertently entered or strayed into the ordering area unintentionally. Clearly none of the frum people intended to enter the McDonald’s area to either order food or use the restroom (which is in the shared mall area.)
Pac-ManMemberI disagree. The number of older singles today constitutes a crisis.
Pac-ManMemberNor does it mean there wasn’t a crisis previously.
And from what I understand there is a greater percentage of older singles today than previously.
Pac-ManMemberRest stop on the highway between NYC and the country.
Are you sure they are entering a treif restaurant? Or, rather, a mall like building with several merchants and stores – and they are entering the mall area, but not the restaurant area.
Pac-ManMemberDY: Was that in one of the five boroughs?
Pac-ManMemberCA: You can only delay it once for no reason (by phone or online) and only once more by going to a court, giving a judge an excuse, plus posting bond. (You can wait till a few days before the court date to request the postponment and hope the cop will postpone first so it doesn’t count as your postponement. It happens frequently and usually a week or two before the date.)
If the cop doesn’t show up on the appointed date and you do, the judges (in NYC) just force you to come back on another date. They dont automatically rule in your favor.
Pac-ManMemberThe judges are corrupt and in the cops pocket. Its an automatic win for the cop, especially without a lawyer who can bribe the cop.
Pac-ManMemberI don’t see why the store is less appropriate than the car.
Pac-ManMemberWolf: I asked rhetorically.
Pac-ManMemberI was merely pointing out that, perhaps, the story would have gone better if the setting was placed in America or England.
June 13, 2011 7:28 pm at 7:28 pm in reply to: why is it fair for a younger daughter to have to wait for the older daughter? #776308Pac-ManMemberVet – So you are saying that a younger brother shouldn’t wait for an older sister, even if a younger sister is made to wait?
Pac-ManMemberPlease define “Orthodox.”
For the purposes of this discussion, someone who believes in maris ayin.
Pac-ManMemberActually quark2’s suggestion is a standard (and even default) feature of bbPress, the forum software the CR uses. I’m not sure why the CR never had that; it is a basic, and needed, function.
Pac-ManMemberDr. Pepper:
Dating in Eretz Yisroel, normally the bochor doesn’t pick up the girl at her house.
Pac-ManMemberDr. Pepper:
How many girls did you date before you met your wife?
June 13, 2011 6:44 pm at 6:44 pm in reply to: why is it fair for a younger daughter to have to wait for the older daughter? #776304Pac-ManMemberNo different.
Pac-ManMemberAre the posters who eat in treif restaurants and don’t believe in maris ayin Orthodox?
Pac-ManMemberHas maris ayin been repealed from our laws?
Pac-ManMemberGoing into a treif restaurant (especially when sitting down and ordering to eat) is the classic example of maris ayin.
Chabad has minyanim in even small towns around the country and world.
Explaining shaking hands with the opposite gender is against your religion, is hardly a “petty excuse”.
Pac-ManMemberMy Rov just told me whoever said that is a bona-fide meshugana. (Considering you persistently asked me for an answer, and when you finally got it to only summarily dismiss it, it makes sense 🙂
Pac-ManMemberMiddlePath: How one “feels”? That’s reform. Shulchan Aruch most certainly does force rules on us all, including specifically what must be covered at all times.
June 13, 2011 4:43 am at 4:43 am in reply to: please pass along; cars being TOWED from toys r us parking lot!! #1017305Pac-ManMemberelik: They give you the option on the spot to not tow, for a $110 fee? What’s the fee and pickup location if they already towed the car?
Pac-ManMemberWolf: I already answered that with the first two words of my preceding comment. That being said, I find it almost impossible that I wouldn’t have a chance to ask a Rov/Posek.
Pac-ManMember“There is also a severe prohibition from the Torah in close friendships between a young man and woman.”
June 13, 2011 2:59 am at 2:59 am in reply to: Guys who reject most of hundred girls they date- are they "ON the Derech"? #776972Pac-ManMemberAnd the denial that girls also have this issue.
