You’re missing the point. The reason they should give it another chance is to get a better picture of the boy before judging anything, it’s not like they’re swimming in names.

    well played dudes.

but u gotta agree, it’s a bit childish to think most people from different ends of the spectrum can have a good marriage.

That’s why we have the coffee room.

its no joke. the ratio of out-box people to in-box people is quite larger here than the real world. this really explains it.

Here’s a breakdown of the difficulties as i see it:

    1. Having Friends

    a) at all

    b) that you are/feel close with

    c) that you are/feel not an outcast with

    d) who u can put your gaurd down around and don’t have to be on defense

    2. Belonging To A Sect

    a) for feeling at home and a sense of kinship

    b) who u can put your gaurd down around and don’t have to be on defense

    c) you can just follow what comes along naturally instead of having to go thru each decision thoroughly

    3. The Future

    a) where do you live

    b) where do you go to shul

    c) where do you send your kids to school

wow, sorry thought that would be helpful but seems pwetty negative. I still think it will be helpful in discussing this and trying to work out a solution, but it’s probably gonna be hard and gonna take a while.

PAA- Truw. But i think out-box people are more tolerant and can relate better to other out-boxers (oy), who by the by might also be seeking friends. Especially if both out-boxers have similar upbringings or backgrounds.

haha, while i do have in-box friends, i also have a group of out-box friends awso. there is more of a comfort with them. thats like five more.

Truth is, after thinking about it, I was talking about myself. I too am in my own box, as you are, but on a much smaller scale it seems. The conclusion I came to (of it not interfering with life so much) may not necessarily apply to you.

I also feel the pain of not fitting perfectly in anywhere, as alluded to above, and sympathize with you. There may be a part of this that is only in our consecutive heads, however. I’m a believer of people seeing what they are expecting to see. True, there is probably an actual lack of belonging, but i don’t think it’s as bad as you’re telling yourself (and I’m telling myself).

To answer the OP’s question, there’s a story (real sorry dont remember this well) in the hakdamah to the sefer “kochvei ohr” where after he dies he comes to someone in a dream and tells him that for every person the ones who are the bais din (after 120) are the gedolim of his generation. Therefore, he warns, to be extra careful about the stuff the gedolim were very makpid on. I think in that generation the godol was R Yisrael Salanter who was always warning about gezel, so he was cautioning people not to steal.

    For us thats internet.

“there’s no box I can say I belong to and no place where I feel completely at home.”

    That i hear.

I told her that while she’s right, unfortunately in society today that’s just not enough.

If you don’t mean the same thing as the quote above, rather a person cant lead a normal life and cant do anything without getting dragged down from not being a classic cookie cut then i disagree on that.

But if Ruben passes by and inhales your smoke, he could possibly be someone who is allergic to it, so don’t be so quick to automatically assume there is no harm done.

You cant tell someone not to smoke somewhere because youre allregic. “But officer, what did I do”? “You can’t eat those nuts in the park, someone may be allergic.”

Correct me if i’m wrong, but it seems to me like you’re being sarcastic. Correct me if i’m wrong, but it seems i proved that you’re logic was flawed and you actually don’t know how to think.

or has endangered someone ELSE’S life due to second-hand smoke exposure

Second hand smoke is overrated. I mean come on, if i’m smoking and Ruben passes by, I’m willing to bet that his chances of getting cancer are not higher after he passes by, or walks out of that entrance i have to be twenty feet away from.

You think Nk are the only ones that don’t like zionists? theres a sane way of showing that and an insane way.

Do you know how many nisim hashem has performed for Israel?? I think Hashem is very “happy” with Israel (c’v’yachol).

According to that logic the nissim of hitlers rise and the holocaust shows hashem is “happy” with the murder of 6 mill. The only ones who know what hashem is “happy” with is our gedolim.
