Going into eretz yisroel meant not seeing the man coming from shamayim, not seeing the open hand of hashem every day. They were afraid of going into that life. But that is exactly what Hashem wants, for us to see him through all the veils of tevah and hester, and to not say “i made this money”, it came from hashem.

I once heard a rebbe saw children playing hide and seek and commented that that’s how it is. Hashem hides Himself from us (individualy and or a klal), but he wants for us to seek him out. Not seeking is missing the whole point. Good shabbos everyone!! i love you all!!!!!!!!

Interesting. I saw artscroll chumash when paroh came running at us after he let us free by krias yam suf, Why would he do that? didnt he seeeeeee? The scary answer there is that the human mind has a very powerful ability to rationalize. Maybe this is the same? idk

jakob, i agree with that part. But rashi the reason this parsha comes after last weeeks parsha is because miriam got tzaraas for speaking loshon hara and the mraglim didnt learn from that to avoid speaking loshon hara. This suggests that it is halachicly assur to speak loshon hara about the land.

im gullible, what can i say.

” Do you think the reason they are hungry is because we have more food than we need?”
Nope dont think so. But we do bh have more food than we need and they dont have any at all. Guy just recently told me that people in india cut off their ear and stuff to look more nebach to be able to get more charity. Were spoiled bh, if we dont give away the extra food (i dont) we should at least realize our grandparents couldnt fathom so much (and such good) food cud be bought….. and thank hashem.

    Ha i just inspired myself.

    Interesting J.

Syag heard like that also from a choshuveh person and he said that was indeed a reason why some dont want hespedim.

Bmyer, i hear. Dont fully know how that fits in line with what im saying but if they say so its true.
Think theres a famous thing from rav dessler that when youre allowed to lie then its called emes but to my knowledge big people were machmir to try to keep it close to the truth and idk if everyone agrees with him.

Don’t give up! the truth is everlasting. And you arent alone, there are others that seek and attempt to hold on to the truth. Bitachon and emunah help, namely that whatever it is that a person wants to benefit from lying really comes from above. If he’s supposed to get it he’l get it, highly doubt lying is hishtadlus. Have a shiur on emes in my car that’l prob help but didnt listen yet.

id be upset if the editor didnt wanna post it for personal hashkafah reasons but it cud be that because of the nature of this site he was afraid, like people here are afraid of, others will see it and think “oh they dont like israel either” because people shoot first and ask dont bother asking later.

i def understood the op meant “chassidic” not “chossid” like in chazal but wtvr. Cud be (but not sure) there was always an undersatnding by litvish as well to avoid depression and have a joy in life and yiddishkeit. Regardless, nowadays theres for sure an awareness in most litvish yeshivas about it. Modern psychology also caught on to the importance of happiness.

The need for separation was always important. Dont know if it was a chumrah or halachah or wtvr but hashkafikly speaking even when living with and doing business with non jews there always has to be an understanding that were different (each jew according to his guidelines.)

Its not so simple to talk about on a public forum cuz things can get misunderstood. But, the classic saying was that if we don’t separate ourselves then we’ll get seperated.

I get that its a matter of life and thats important and stuff but highly doubt trying to get people in the coffee room angry at both of these organizations wil save the lives u claim to care about.

    Seems about right apushatayid.

Dr E. (and y’all out there with similar feelings)
” I would be happy to pass any such lomdus on to my cousins who find themselves in that scenario.”

Can we please try to take this event as it is by itself, unrelated to past feelings towards this rabbi or hashkafa or that asifa or whatnot please? I understand that as normal rational human beings we look at everything as a whole wider picture and usually may have unease regarding subjects that come extremely close to sensitive subjects in our hearts. But, if what the FJJ letter says is true – by rabbonim that are respected in america and slightly more moderate than the chareidi rabbonim in israel – maybe this problem is a problem?

    Dr. E – Halevai a barditchever chassid.

Why not from the serious yeshivos? Talmidim from these roshei yeshiva have gone to r ashers shiur doc. R elya ber sends to the top yeshivos in israel.

Also i wasnt asking you when bnei torah should stop learning, i was saying that your opinion on whether its a waste of time for a solid guy to close the gemara to protest this is odd due to the fact that leading roshei yeshiva (who im pretty sure stress the importance of limud hatorah and dont take to its interruption lightly, as displayed by this very thread) are disagreeing with you.

The solidarity and oneness being shown from bnei torah in america for their brothers in arms across the ocean are beautiful to me and probably to most people whose eyes aren’t blurred by hate and a lifes mission of negative hock.

Another guy that thinks he knows when a bochur should learn and when he should stop, more than the marbitzai torah of this generation. You sir deserve a medal.

Ye because none of them are so steeped in learning that theyll talk in learning on the way. What are you saying? Have you walked into bais shalom in the mir? Ponevezh? These guys learn more torah on the way to the grocery than most people learn in a day. Go try to keep up with r ashers shiur and tell me they dont have kishron.

You think people arent learning in america? This isnt just lies its ignorance and hate. All the apples arent rotten, are you?

Life is fair it turns out. Its just terribly hard to see it and feel it when everything seems contrary to that, i agree. But tzadik Hashem bchal drachav vchosid bchol maasav. ZDAD- ur right there are problems but from the way this letter sounds these problems also exist. I dont know why there isnt anything being done about the issues you brought up (i have my theories and its not all about money) but can people not understand that this may also be a legitimate concern??

Takamamash- feel free to call him for his sources.

Is it easier for everyone to trust the israeli government than a our gedolim? Puh leeeeeeez

apushitayid- i think citi field accomplished, maybe not as much as was expected but an awareness was raised. Parents were oblivious to what their children were doing, now they know. Either way i hope whatevr were trying to do accomplishes its goal too. The power of lots of jews uniting, especially for the sake of the torah, is very powerful. Especially if they pray.

ASSURNET, I think i know how u feel a bit. I realized though that when i listen to grunge a lot it makes me get in the grunge mindset a lot. Its no surprise to me all the grunge guys kill themselves. So i avoid prolonged exposure. Even too much blues can give you the blues, two friends of mine just had this problem.

I think the whole grunge emotion is one of those feelings that dont really have a place in judaism. Like you said really. I try to listen to music of bitachon and hope instead, or chizuk. Even if not right away then after my small vent session. Its more about not letting the feelings of pain and anger break me down but with them in me (or because of them if im lucky) blindly holding on to the rope that hashem cares and feels my pain, its all ok, for the best, and will work out because he didnt forgrt about me. When that feeling hits home it washes over me and my body loosens up, i relax a lot more and sometimes eventually the color comes back to the world.

If i find anything that i thinks hits that spot il try to letcha know. You tried zusha?
