To answer op, id say that yes, it is a tragedy. But i dont believe anyone here can honestly say they actually feel that way. (Kinda reminds me of how students scream in protest in schools and universities about causes that they don’t really feel angered by. Meaning it wont get close to passing a kotzker test. Lkovod mine kovod.) Therefore, it isnt so appropriate to equate the two and make believe you really care that much.

If the fear is intermarriage and assimilation, I believe that South Florida has the lowest intermarriage rate in the United States. (and to other comments)

Thatl last one generation if theyre lucky.

One time this reason was discussed here. A few days later i was on a date and a nice less religious jewish man started shmoozing with me. He randomly asked me, while in front of the girl, “why do we take off our tefillin by mussaf” bh, the coffee room made me look good.

ychusdik- frst of all, no havent read them. I beieve its stupid (and probably assur) for someone trying to grow in emunah to read them. In fact, many hold jewish philosophy or debates “proving” that there is a Gd isn’t safe.
Regardless, i admit they are intelligent and articulate (articulate wasnt really my point btw). I was referring to the average joe.
There is a level of depth required to actually care enough about Believe it or Not, i dont think people are deliberating while theyre waiting for netflix to load.

The athiests of today are also on a lower level. In previous doros, an atheist was a philosopher that thought about things but came to the wrong conclusion because of mistakes and negios. Nowadays a guy goes, (t.t.t.o. a question) “well, i believe that blah blah blah, because thats whats in style and i dont really care that much to even think about it.”
    And negios.

Was wondering the same thing recently. I came to the conclusion that as cliche as it sounds, and despite me always thinking that it would be baloney, a healthy peacfull family is key. When there’s tension or hate, the subconscious cringing and shields of defense destroy menuchas hanefesh. If its shaky, then no matter how warm looking it may be in reality, but it will be impossible to see it and feel it.
Conversely, i think even a home that isn’t as well groomed but has familial harmony radiates warmth.

You come to associate it with how it makes you feel in the environment.

Sounds lame but ive come to believe it.

That being said, there was a machlokes here a while back about modern furniture and whatnot. Personally im of the opinion that this may take away that feeling a lil. Hope more people care about warm homes like this and continue focusing on the important things in life. May your all your homes be filled with warmth and happiness everyone.

Chochom, the question wasn’t whether they are or arent chassidim. The question is, when people (non chabad) are talking and say the word “chassidim”, are they generally including chabad in the comment? Like, “Boro park is mostly chassidish nowadays”. He isn’t including chabad, even though, yes, chabad are also chassidim.

Ive been told not to eat. One girl i went out with i noticed the mother wasn’t respectful to the father (wasn’t looking for it, just noticed it.) We did some research and found out it was all ok, not explaining for privacy reasons.

Another girl i went out with had very nice parents and always gave us cold water bottles when we went out.

Was once leaving girls house with her and said to her mother, “wow, the challah really smells good” cause i try to be nice. The girl smiled and blushed, she made the challah.

AH was just thinking about that medrash. Think people were quoting it in a climate change thread and i didnt think it was learnt correctly. I always took it to mean in a spiritual sense (like by noachs time when the earth itself became infected.) I recently heard R Shlomo Freifeld using it in the simple understanding though. Dont remember regarding what exactly but was something like forests being cut down or buffalo or the like.

Also, syags right. Peace doesnt mean letting everything go. Pinchas killed people and he got the bris of it. If theres a cancer it gets cut out, we dont say, “oh but itl hurt to cut it out.” People may scream too much about everything but the opposite extreme causes decay as well.

If id be the ou itd be real tough for me and i dont know if id be able to go through with it. But they have a responsibility to do it and thats what comes with being an orthodox organization for the orthodox public. If they dont like it and cant take the heat then they dont have what it takes to hold such a position. Its like when a cop takes his badge, he’s obligated to certain duties.

Didnt read his answer (not allowed to now chop?). I think pool used to be considered a chill which was done mostly by empty people (king of tonys reference here). That gave it a bad vibe. Think pool isnt associated with that anymore and the mitzius may be different.

Plus, with all the options for entertainment nowadays on the left, id say pool may have ended up more towards the middle

My friend told me that he heard (bshem r yisroel salanter?) that when youre gonna make a kaballah, cut it in half and then cut it in half again.

Think this year i messed up pretty quickly (better than last year’s tzom gdalya.) Bh this year i also learnt that yiridos are part of the process and happen to everyone. Then i learnt how powerful it is to cry out for help from above. Bh been going strong with the kaballah now

“Those defending this event obviously have no idea what true judaism is .They think that yiddishkite is purely capitalist. But its not . We have a limit of what we are allowed to do in all areas of life.”

Cmon man. I agree with some of the points you made, i just dont believe you want a respectful discussion “during a week that we should be remembering the single worst time in the history of judaism.” I believe this is just incitement, like your other post https://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/another-ezras-nashim-horror-story/#post-1291924

rashi this weeks parsha says that they didnt learn the lesson from miriam and spoke against the “makom”. One way they explain this word is eretz yisroel, but the other way is that they were belittling what Hashem said.
