You invalidated the whole premise of the post by not calling it by the right name. It was the Purim Parade. And yes, it is sorely missed.
opinionsincludedParticipantI don’t know. I have been trying to find out all night. We got a chain call to say 3 kapitlach of tehillim and call three people to do the same but noone has any details…

The conclusion is inevitably the same: All the married couples say they wish they had done it (meaning take the down payment instead of the fancy wedding), while the single/engaged people can’t understand why.
I usually don’t pose it as strongly though, more along the lines of a cheaper wedding vs. whatever the difference would be towards a house. Small wedding in a shul is pretty extreme.

Unfortunately, I pass that sign twice a day every day and was overjoyed when they finally got it down. Only problem with their “squeaky wheel” method is that it took YEARS for someone to listen.
I don’t care much about what these kids did, but I do want to point out one thing (as I do know a little bit about marketing and billboards). All of you who are saying that they should have covered it and spoken to H&M who surely would have taken it down, blah blah blah. These signs are not reusable. It’s not like H&M would have taken it down and hung it in Times Square instead. If it was coming down anyway (as most of you think the tzadikim at H&M would’ve done) then there was no hefsid.
That being said, I believe the blame falls squarely and solely on the owner of the billboard space. If you own space in this kind of neighborhood, you should review ads before you agree to let someone hang them so you can avoid such issues.

I do not think that anyone who questions the actions of any kollel family is automatically doing so because he/she hates talmidei chachomim. The bottom line is that anyone sitting in learning in kollel who feels that they need a house because everyone has one, SHOULD NOT BE SITTING IN KOLLEL!!! If they were talmidei chachomim, would they be harassing their parents, or expecting a house?!?!? I doubt it.
