Here’s a better question – why do people think it’s fun to post under multiple user names?
OneOfManyParticipantHonestly…

OneOfManyParticipantClinton.
OneOfManyParticipantI don’t know AYC so well, but I kinda feel bad for him/her…so here’s for you, AYC! 😀
OneOfManyParticipantYou know how some people make their username their password?
So, 6HZ1W3J, did you make your password your username?
(Disclaimer: don’t answer that.)
OneOfManyParticipantSomeone with gumption.
OneOfManyParticipantHow do they even each other out? And does that mean everyone has both?
OneOfManyParticipantNow THIS is amusing…
November 15, 2011 1:04 am at 1:04 am in reply to: Modern Orthodox people (and sometimes Popa) are stupid #1041203OneOfManyParticipantYoish, popa…
OneOfManyParticipantcantoresq:
The apparel oft bespeaks the man
Sorry, how does that give you license to be judgmental?
I’m not trying to bash you here (as others on this thread are). But if you want people not to judge you, then don’t judge others. It really doesn’t matter if it has to do with grooming or not. If you want to judge them, do so – just don’t expect them to afford you the same treatment.
And generally, it’s just prudent not to concern oneself with others’ hygiene.
OneOfManyParticipantIf I HAVEN’T been accused of being J yet, does that mean that there’s something wrong with me? :S
OneOfManyParticipantAnd I thought only GIRLS were this judgemental of attire…sheesh…
OneOfManyParticipantThe end of May.
OneOfManyParticipantYou inspire awe in me (a sentiment I would ostensibly share with Sister Bear). 🙂
OneOfManyParticipantZeeskite, did anyone ever tell you that you are awesome? 🙂
OneOfManyParticipantI think their Memorial Day sale is their biggest. A few years ago, I got shirts half-price then. But I guess that’s a ways off.
OneOfManyParticipantWolf, what did you end up getting? Or are you still deciding?

She may have been 7’4 and quite pettite.
In reference to a women’s size, petite generally means short, (regardless of weight). This term is rather imprecise. Just had to put that put there.
OneOfManyParticipantYou probably haven’t been keeping in touch with your stomach. It was asking for Friday night chulent.
OneOfManyParticipantTo forestall all the stalkers that pieced together your identity from your posts in the CR.
Alternatively, to give you time to make a getaway when the CR Shomrim come to bring you in.
OneOfManyParticipantFelt like reviving this thread…
I have a Kindle, and I recommend it. Specifically for the avid reader (even though it may not have the shticky extras that the iPad does) – if only for the sake of eyesight. But there are lots of other good features for readers – unlimited storage, lots of free classics, and good battery life. Plus, Kindle has this cool app/program that lets you access your Kindle books on any PC/Apple device/Android phone/etc. that you register to your Amazon account.
Oh! Does anyone here have the new Kindle Fire? Curious to see how it compares to the old model and/or iPad…

*cracks up*
OneOfManyParticipantHIE: In all fairness, I don’t think BTGuy indicated that he AGREED with that sentiment.
OneOfManyParticipantBumping this.
November 13, 2011 3:45 am at 3:45 am in reply to: Modern Orthodox people (and arguably Popa) are racist #825630OneOfManyParticipantWell, look who’s all meta tonight. 🙂
November 13, 2011 3:40 am at 3:40 am in reply to: Modern Orthodox people (and sometimes Popa) are stupid #1041173OneOfManyParticipantyitayningwut: True, but it IS also an amusing conundrum from a scientific point of view – and since the OP seems to be chiefly focused on that concern, it makes sense to take it as such.
And again, the premise of OP IS valid – ultimately, our perception really ISN’T all that significant. In a very theoretical way, but still.
November 13, 2011 3:22 am at 3:22 am in reply to: What is the difference between a seminary girl and a cell phone? #825935OneOfManyParticipantplaid: While there are SOME exceptions to the rule, most sems don’t allow affianced girls to attend.
am yisrael chai: Eh, rings aren’t a given.
November 13, 2011 2:24 am at 2:24 am in reply to: What is the difference between a seminary girl and a cell phone? #825931OneOfManyParticipantam yisrael chai: Nope! As long as she’s a “sem girl,” then no ring for her!
OneOfManyParticipantI really think this argument is moot, since there are plenty of ways to get a degree that the majority of the yeshivish world acknowledges.
And even if you DO go to a secular college, while doing so could theoretically drive you off the derech, the act itself can’t really be defined as such. Some MAY perceive it as not yeshivish/not done, but only someone really extreme would condemn a person as “OTD.” I know plenty of people who are in this situation, and B”H their Yiddishkeit is holding up nicely.
I’m not condoning this, of course. I just don’t think people should be so quick do condemn it.
November 13, 2011 2:05 am at 2:05 am in reply to: Modern Orthodox people (and sometimes Popa) are stupid #1041171OneOfManyParticipantYup, that’s the bottom line. 🙂
Something that gave me an interesting paradigm shift (paraphrased):
If God’s knowledge (for lack of a better term) is infinite, then we know really doesn’t matter – infinity divided by any number, however big, yields such as to make all equal in comparison.
November 13, 2011 1:53 am at 1:53 am in reply to: Modern Orthodox people (and sometimes Popa) are stupid #1041168OneOfManyParticipantYou start off saying that it’s all the same, even if our perception is altered. By that line of reasoning, yes, matter WAS always composed of atoms, whether we realized it or not. Yes, to God it doesn’t matter, but as previously asserted, OUR perception doesn’t get to define that.
Anyway, the argument is recursive. God constructed the mainframe of “nature,” so however He alters it must also define it. How we see it IS really irrelevant. We don’t really have any say in the matter.
November 13, 2011 1:07 am at 1:07 am in reply to: Modern Orthodox people (and sometimes Popa) are stupid #1041166OneOfManyParticipantMod-42: It actually depends on how exactly you define “sound.” And possibly, “metaphysics.”
popa: I’m confused. Your OP seems to be arguing in two different directions. Elucidate?
OneOfManyParticipant2scents: Regardless of whether your generalizations are true or not, as m in Israel has correctly asserted, it is different vis-a-vis girls and seminaries. And that would seem to be the OP’s main focus. Therefore, your experience and beliefs are not applicable and do not belong on this thread.
November 13, 2011 12:21 am at 12:21 am in reply to: Modern Orthodox people (and sometimes Popa) are stupid #1041162OneOfManyParticipantWell, from a purely scientific point of view, you could argue that one either way. 🙂

OneOfManyParticipantAwwwwwww.
That’s so sweet!
OneOfManyParticipantZeeskite said it was gilgul-accusedasjosephindepast (didn’t reincarnate long…).
OneOfManyParticipantStaring at computers all day kills your attention span (among other things).
OneOfManyParticipantHow many of the 613 can ANY of us actually keep, anyway? Wouldn’t that make all Jews not-Jewish?

“???? ????? ????? ???? ????? ?? ?????” – the only stuff that is treif is stuff that contradicts Torah. If it doesn’t, then to say that it is invalid would be itself contradicting Torah.
