Nu…what did you hoard? 🙂
I don’t think we even got any winkies this year. But we did get lots of those two-tone saucer lollies. And I have a nice little cache of chocolate… 😀
OneOfManyParticipantApprehend [and apprehensive], comprehend, prehensile – root “grasp.” Like “chop” in Yiddish. Interesting tidbit to explain the variations in meaning. 🙂
OneOfManyParticipantBig Bear: lol
OneOfManyParticipantsoliek: lol, nice.
OneOfManyParticipantyitayningwut: Hee hee, I like. 🙂
kapusta: lol, we’re finally half the way there…maybe I’ll make a dummy email for the blog.
OneOfManyParticipant#11 Do most people have one? Yes.
OneOfManyParticipantyitayningwut: Thanks. 🙂 You can do it by going to the blog design main page (Edit Layout), and clicking on the “Edit” in the corner of the “Blog Posts’ box. Check off “Reactions.” You can type in your own, too.
Derech: Don’t really have one…I’m not so serious about it. Why so curious? (Now I’m curious.)
OneOfManyParticipantfar east: I have no idea what you are doing and I’m not going to judge. But you might not be giving yourself an accurate judgement either. You should talk to a mentor about it.
Logician: That conversation is probably older than the CR itself.
OneOfManyParticipanti feel like many of the things id be doing on facebook that are “wrong” i already do
not saying you should put yourself in a situation where you will do the wrong thing
No no no no no. It doesn’t make a difference where your level is or where you think your level is; joining Facebook for the wrong reasons is still wrong. Being on that level doesn’t somehow neutralize the wrongness of it. So you feel justified in dragging yourself deeper? That’s not good judgment. Being where you are is not a justification for doing more wrong things.
because ive heard some pretty bad things which i cant imagine are true
No, they probably were. The point is that they won’t necessarily be true in every case – but that the tendency toward such things might be too strong to bank on that probability alone.
OneOfManyParticipantyitayningwut: Why isn’t anyone doing anything about it?! It’s a really bad bug.
Logician: Takah…at home we have Jnet. It’s kind of weird that it can force settings on my individual Google account. I’m going to see how it works at school. Thanks!
Toi: huh?
TCG: My real issue was with the fact that they kept changing to the new one against my will…although it actually hasn’t happened recently. Maybe they figured out that there are some old fogies who don’t want to change?
OneOfManyParticipantenglishmajorsagainstshakespeare. This is a new one (just switched over), so not much to see.
OneOfManyParticipantLiterature and criticism (tempted yet?).
OneOfManyParticipantDoes anyone know how to fix the timestamp thingy?
OneOfManyParticipantAnd their Blogger is also annoying. The timestamps in my blog are off – and what has the help forum to say? “This is a known issue.” Nice. Plus, it needs to add a cookie to my browser to block my own pageviews. Which is utterly absurd on several counts.
OneOfManyParticipantThat’s why I wanted to know. None of their products have a hechsher on the package(as far as I’ve seen), and apparently there are some that are NOT certified.
OneOfManyParticipantThere’s nothing wrong with it. You can get into a lot of very wrong things with it. You just have to be very sure that you won’t. It’s definitely a good thing to discourage in general, because it is a very slippery slope. But if you are very aware of the dangers and control your use accordingly, then nobody can say you’re really doing anything wrong.
(Sorry if I mislead you as to my sentiments on this on the other thread. 🙂 )
OneOfManyParticipantOkay, that was me failing at zealot-troll. This was somewhat serious, though –> “Any shidduch that comes out of it is a treife relationship.”
OneOfManyParticipantBump (again). It’s a funny Purim story, people.
OneOfManyParticipant#10 Is it grey? They can be.
OneOfManyParticipantThanks, DY. Just checking.
OneOfManyParticipantNu. Facebook is assur. Why are we still talking about this.
OneOfManyParticipantIt will make you go off the derech. Any shidduch that comes out of it is a treife relationship.
OneOfManyParticipantI’m waiting for haifagirl to post on this thread. 🙂
OneOfManyParticipant“Disorientating” is a real word. It’s an English (British) thing.
OneOfManyParticipantFacebook is assur.
OneOfManyParticipantOh, okay. I see.
#7 Can you use it? Yes.
#8 Will it work? No.
#9 Is it a toy? No. But they are fun to use (I think so, at least). 🙂
OneOfManyParticipantMod 42: I actually looked that up once. It’s not an error, though it is considered informal in style.
OneOfManyParticipantI had a similar experience on (I think) a 2 train once. Apparently, there are certain lines that have to have narrower cars so they fit through the tunnels on their lines. So they have the new cars, with the blue benches and LED display screens, except the whole interior is slightly different – it’s narrower, the doors aren’t directly opposite each other, the layout of the benches is completely different…it was so surreal.
OneOfManyParticipantI don’t know how to answer that question. Can you give examples or such?
OneOfManyParticipantOh, that’s good…kind of postmodern (I never get that stuff the first time around). I like.
OneOfManyParticipantShakespeare. And people who think people who like Shakespeare are all intellectual and impressive. *gnashes teeth*
OneOfManyParticipantSorry, Wolf, I couldn’t resist. 🙂
OneOfManyParticipant73 years. hee hee
OneOfManyParticipantGood Shabbos! 😀

OneOfManyParticipantI think dash was talking about this paragraph: “I got on the wrong train.”
OneOfManyParticipantHere we go again…
OneOfManyParticipantHmmm…the context seems to suggest that he was about to get on the train, not that he had just gotten off. (That doesn’t really make sense either. Which is why I’m confused.)
OneOfManyParticipantI don’t get it.
OneOfManyParticipant#6 Is it round? No.
OneOfManyParticipant#5 Can you hang things on it? No.
OneOfManyParticipant#4 Does it make noise? Sometimes they squeak. 🙂
February 29, 2012 10:01 pm at 10:01 pm in reply to: CHASSIDISH (ER) nigunim whooo ye ayayayy yaiy did di di di bom bim bom did yaya #856914OneOfManyParticipantokay, the title of this thread totally made me crack up. (In a library, I might add.)
OneOfManyParticipantChocolate sort of goes without saying…in my house, swiping chocolate is a capital offense. All chocolate is collected and distrubuted evenly, with much haggling and bartering and back door dealings.
OneOfManyParticipantOoh, Terra Stix and Terra Blues. (I flew on jetBlue last week and I had so many. 🙂 )
OneOfManyParticipant#3 Is it manmade? Yes.
OneOfManyParticipant#2 Is it bigger than a loaf of bread? Usually.
OneOfManyParticipant#1 Does it weigh more than 5 pounds? No.
OneOfManyParticipantmore_2, you’ve never been in E”Y on Purim, have you…
OneOfManyParticipantI love how people are all like “even Shakespeare” as if it’s really not so bad…it sooooo is. The only reason they can teach it at all is because students don’t really understand the text, so the teacher can just gloss over all the innuendo and rubbish.
