OneOfManyParticipant
I think they are knowingly exaggerating – like when people say they are claustrophobic or insomniac. I don’t see why that would make the real disorder not real, though…
OneOfManyParticipantLogician: I think you are talking from the perspective of the individual. It’s definitely good if a person is able to remove themselves completely from the temptations of the Web. But looking at the big picture – it is completely unrealistic to assume that this solution is implementable by everyone, even if it hypothetically should be. The problem will exist on some level in any scenario. And I really think the problem is everyone’s individual problem, because if those around you have trouble managing it, it will probably effect you too.
OneOfManyParticipantOkay, wise guy mod – I dare you to give yitayningwut “moldy old Voldy” as a subtitle. Let’s see if this works… >D
OneOfManyParticipantLogician: +1
Girls: I hate to say this, but it’s really dumb to judge something you can’t understand. (I am a girl in shidduchim, for the record). The fact that the practice of requiring pictures of girls may or may not be over the top does not mean that the idea behind it is bunk.
OneOfManyParticipantOkay, that makes sense.
OneOfManyParticipantcalloo callay
OneOfManyParticipantHa ha, it’s so much fun. ^_^
OneOfManyParticipantOkay, we have a Voldy. lol
OneOfManyParticipantWho gets to be Voldy?
OneOfManyParticipantOoh, Luna got me. Well, I really think it should depend on my mood… ^_^
OneOfManyParticipantYeah whatever, I thought he was cool… 😛
OneOfManyParticipantNow you got me trying to figure mine out, and I keep going back to a certain bushy-haired girl’s… 🙁
OneOfManyParticipantI’m of the opinion that J.K. was trying to have a laugh at our expense…make us read too much into things…
May 13, 2012 10:18 pm at 10:18 pm in reply to: Yad hashem, infamous "Space" stores bankrupt! #873622OneOfManyParticipant…and this is why we have a CR.
OneOfManyParticipantI guess it can take many forms. :S
OneOfManyParticipantHow about Aberforth?
May 13, 2012 9:43 pm at 9:43 pm in reply to: Which are the great subtitles in the coffeeroom? #895101OneOfManyParticipantHeh, I say it should have been “nonagenarian and still shteiging.”
OneOfManyParticipantBoggart. Oo, that’s a cool patronus. 😀
May 13, 2012 8:36 pm at 8:36 pm in reply to: Which are the great subtitles in the coffeeroom? #895098OneOfManyParticipantI think 42 deserves honorable mention for being the bestower of many of the greatest subtitles in the CR. 🙂
OneOfManyParticipantCalled it. You can take giant tortoise if you want. (That was my third choice.) ^_^
OneOfManyParticipantBlast-Ended Skrewt.
OneOfManyParticipantPatri, Nasberg, mermaid – can you answer my question? I find this thread very bizarre…
yitay: Type 3?
OneOfManyParticipantHmm…I don’t think that contradicts what I said. My point is that they need to be proactively dealt with. Davening that we should not be lead to nisyonos does not mean that once they are upon us, we should spin fantasies instead of dealing with them.
The reality is that we’ve always has nisyonos, tefilos notwithstanding. Perhaps these tefilos are being used to save us from harsher nisyonos. I don’t think it’s fruitful to dwell on such ideas.
OneOfManyParticipantHm, I guess so…
OneOfManyParticipantSheesh, don’t flaunt your ignorance.
I do think life would be manageable, or even improved without consumer-based Web services. Removing the Internet alters the paradigm too much for your hypothesizing, though. Do you even know what you are talking about?
One more thing – if we didn’t the spiritual challenges we have today, we would have different ones. Wishing and shutting them away doesn’t do anything. You have to learn how to overcome them. That’s what this asifa is for, isn’t it? Just saying.
OneOfManyParticipantIs that how you think of your wife? Like a washing machine? With a cooking machine feature on the side?
[No, I don’t really think you do. But you were just asking for it with that comment :)]
I wouldn’t put it past our Loyal J.
OneOfManyParticipantYo, trolly-trolls, I don’t get this. Who even cares if you are right or not? And if you are, what point are you trying to make? That we ultra-Orthodox have an evil plan to take over the world by swarming?
OneOfManyParticipantIf this sounds “fanatic,” we already behave this way when we shop for a washing machine…
…analogy fail.

OneOfManyParticipantderszoger, I also picture you as a person…er, creature from HPverse. ^_^
OneOfManyParticipantYeah whatever, troll.
OneOfManyParticipantThe rules also say no multiple screen names.
OneOfManyParticipantOh okay. I can live with that. ^_^
OneOfManyParticipantThat’s it, you’re Dumblee-dorr.
OneOfManyParticipantAw, c’mon 42, I thought you of all people would support me… 🙁
Good list, though. popa and more_2 made me lol (for real). 😀
OneOfManyParticipantEh…I dunno. You don’t post here often enough.
MiddlePath: I guess I’ll take that as a compliment. ^_^
OneOfManyParticipantSchenectady NY. It also has a cool zip code. ^_^
OneOfManyParticipantWe’d be glad to include you fellows in our special integrative troll division.
OneOfManyParticipantiBump 2.0: Okay, you can be him. Because…
…you have a scar on your forehead. (Can you think of anything better?)
moski: Well, Tonks also —-, so I guess I don’t really care. 😛
OneOfManyParticipantIt’s a troll…it’s a mod…NO…IT’S BUMPA BUMP! *theme music*
OneOfManyParticipantHa ha, I’m not goody-two shoes enough to be Hermione. I really am a troublemaker at heart.
OneOfManyParticipantK fine. I’ll be the other Weasley twin. 😀
I think popa is sort of a Crookshanks.
OneOfManyParticipantAbility to absorb all other superpowers. 😀
OneOfManyParticipantPretty close except for the denim. I’m yeshivish, remember? 😛 I think you look like a kindly old lady who likes kids.
moski: One of the Weasley twins. 😀
OneOfManyParticipantThe YWN CR has a team of lawyers, you know: http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/ywn-merchandise#post-376818
😛
OneOfManyParticipantI also learned what kapusta meant from the CR…we call it chlupshes (I really have no idea how to spell that). My mother also makes yebret, which is basically the same thing but with grape leaves. (We used to call it just “stuffed grape leaves” until my mother’s Syrian friend told us they had a catchier name for it. :D) Yebret is yummy. 🙂
OneOfManyParticipantObviously I do, but only if it is a well-informed opinion. Otherwise I indicate that my own feelings my be tainting my knowledge of the subject.
I really don’t know how you define yeshivish, but I define it as having a fixed devotion and sense of self-efficacy toward Torah, da’as Torah, and a torah lifestyle.. The externals don’t figure in primarily, but they are generally influenced. Why don’t you share what you think yeshivish means?
OneOfManyParticipantI’ve never seen a man stand up for a lady just stam on the New York subway…is it because New Yorkers are rude? (I have seen them stand up for old/pregnant ladies, though.)
OneOfManyParticipantDon’t worry, because apart from credits, APs look good in admissions. The more you take the better (only if you plan on getting good marks on them, that is.) 🙂
Taking AP Euro is probably a sound idea because it’s (I think) a general studies core, so it will definitely save you time. See, I took AP U.S. History, which I later found out is just plain electie credit, which I don’t have to spare. So I will graduate with those 6 credits as superfluous. 🙁
Also, you probably won’t be stuck with crummy classes because the beauty of college is that if you choose your field of study *coughEnglishcoughcough* wisely, you will probably have a lot of wiggle room for classes. 😀 I only take stuff I like, and core classes that I know have good teachers.
