OneOfManyParticipant6 page papers? You lucky science major you. 😛
Yeah, I have some friends that cannot stop extolling the virtues of dropbox. What exactly is it for again?
OneOfManyParticipantmoski: Firefox trademarked Awesome. 😛
yy: See, I would immediately stop using a browser that had the chutzpah to do that without me instructing it to. Ome of the reasons I can’t stand Google (and all its little offspring)…

OneOfManyParticipantlol @ moski 😛
OneOfManyParticipantThe subtitle covers that question in more ways than one, I think.
OneOfManyParticipant-_- …descendants on whom a “tzava’ah” usually applies.
OneOfManyParticipantvochindik: The way I learned it is that some believe that the a lot of the provisions in tzava’ah was really intended only for R’ Yehudah’s descendants – being that he saw with ruach hakodesh (or something like that) that these specific scenarios would not play out well for his descendants. According to that opinion, it has nothing to do with R’ Yehudah HaChosid paskening for general application.
OneOfManyParticipantOh dear, I didn’t see this before! You will be missed! 🙁
OneOfManyParticipantbesalel: Thanks. 🙂 So no hard feeings?
QB: lol yeah, back when that was my subtitle. ^_^ I’m in middle of Kingdom Hearts 3D. I just finished it a few weeks ago and I’m trying to beat it on critical mode (wish me luck :P).
And talk about driving skills…I can defeat secret bosses without breaking a sweat, but I can’t get past those racing minigames in less than eight tries. I generally just hand the game over to my little brother lol.
MP: Haha I’m not part of any groups – I’m not really active enough. I mostly lurk and grovel in dumbfounded awe in the shadows of artists I hope to emulate someday. ^_^ A couple of my favorites, off the top of my head: alice-chan, Mr–Jack, vinegar, strongstuff (best ector art I’ve ever seen). There are a lot more, but I can’t pull up my favorites righ now…
Yeah, Painter 12 has some sort of feature that reflects as you draw, right? 😛 I don’t think Photoshop has someting dedicated like that. There is a tool that you can you use to reflect selections in the transformations menu (unless you knew about that one already?), but do you have to make a copy first. You don’t have to make a new layer – I wouldn’t unless I had to tweak the selection further.

OneOfManyParticipantaurora is right; besalel, I apologize for the nasty tone in my remarks.
Middlepath, Curiosity, Queen Bee: Can we just continue this thread and not address the new elements? It would be such a shame to let this thread get all whatever…
OneOfManyParticipantIt’s getting old.
OneOfManyParticipantbesalel: No, I am not insulted that you think gaming is a waste of time. It would be very silly for me to be insulted every time someone voices an opinion different from my own. But you must realize that voicing your opinion like a second grader on a playground can be personally insulting. As wel asl quite unnecessary. Why don’t you voice your opinion like the mature adult you claim to be?
OneOfManyParticipantbesalel: Yes, becaue randomly insulting people online on Erev Yom Kippur is the product of a meaningful and fulfilled life. You keep telling yourself that. ^_^
OneOfManyParticipantfruit
OneOfManyParticipantHmmm, tricky. Try a volcano.
OneOfManyParticipantAgree with Health. Maturity is something that comes with assuming responsibilities. Whatever part of it that is innate is IMO not subject to gender distinction.
September 23, 2012 11:39 pm at 11:39 pm in reply to: Help! Book Dilemma — Appropriate or not? #906403OneOfManyParticipanthaifagirl: She has technical acuity, but she is not a good novelist (in my opinion). And in terms of hashkafa, while some books may have objectionable elements, hers directly espouse anti-Torah hashkafos. I think that makes it a lot harder to justify reading them.
I did really like Anthem, though. I just think being too agenda-driven ruins your writing. (I takah just wrote a whole blog post about this…) ^_^
OneOfManyParticipantI guess what I do is called digital painting. I don’t really do photo manipulation that much (though I did for my HS yearbook lol). I don’t really use Illustrator…my skills are very ill-adapted for such a program, and yeah, I think Photoshop is a little more comprehensive. But I get what kind of art you do with Illustrator – there are some really amazing artists on DeviantArt that I follow…(wish I’d be as good as them someday). And yeah, I do post my art, but very little of it, because I rarely finish my art to a level that I would showcase. 😛
OneOfManyParticipantWIY: Really now? Why don’t you write ten pages on female motivation, and then try commenting again, eh?
OneOfManyParticipant*sigh*
OneOfManyParticipantOkay, can we all please calm down for a minute?
It’s perfectly reasonable to completely abjure secular literature, and I personally think no ill of those who do so. In a way, I can even see it as admirable. It should also be perfectly reasonable for those who do so to accept that as we are all grown-ups and capable of independent thought, there are some who think otherwise. And that they can BOTH be right.
Okay?
OneOfManyParticipantlol
OneOfManyParticipantSam2: “If there really is an answer”? I don’t think that could be interpreted as anything other than trolling. If you are not willing to acknowledge that the opposing school of thought may have validity, you are not looking to have an equitable discussion.
Also, he is being suspiciously unresponsive to my first snide remark, which I find raaaaaaaaather corroborative… 😛
Matan1: Yeah, Ayn Rand is pretty anti-Torah. Not so very well-written either.
OneOfManyParticipantHmmmm…brush tool. 😛 Also, clone stamp, magic wand, lasso, and levels.
OneOfManyParticipantSam2: Seriously. Save your breath.
OneOfManyParticipanticed/bubka: It’s a shame that you’ve changed your mind about literature. You seemed so interested in it HERE.
OneOfManyParticipant…ZK?
OneOfManyParticipantMP: Then painter must take all the fun out of making textures and effects from scratch lol. Seriously, though – that way you get all these random cool results that you weren’t even expecting. 🙂
I’ve just started talking design classes this semester. Don’t have any opinion of them yet…I like my traditional art class, though. :3 And yeah, I think there are some animation classes later, but they funcuzzle me with all their interesting course names…I actually would really like to learn traditional animation, because it will totally boost teh drawing skillz. 😛

OneOfManyParticipantMR sounds like a good fit for you. The experience is worth the work. 🙂
OneOfManyParticipantQB: When I get the skills…let the bidding war begin. ^_^
OneOfManyParticipantAgreed. Sheesh…
OneOfManyParticipantOkay, guys…who’s excited for Wreck-It Ralph? ^_^
OneOfManyParticipantUh, that’s a REALLY tall order… In your case, I would really recommend short stories over novels. They are generally lighter and more enjoyable, and if you are trying to get your students to like reading, then they will probably do the job (if only by virtue of being shorter). I would recommend O. Henry, Amy Tan, James Joyce’s Dubliners, Catherine Mansfield, Mark Twain, maybe some F. Scott Fitzgerald.
OneOfManyParticipantThanks mods! ^_^
repharim: I checked out ea_spouse…yikes, that is pretty bad… :S
Like I said, though, I am not particularly devoted to the idea of working in game development – I would be just as happy doing concept art for graphic novels, etc. Freelance sounds pretty good to me too. Can you even work like that in the gaming industry, or is it all or nothing?
OneOfManyParticipantlol, I seriously doubt Camus wrote that…if you’ve ever read anything he’s wrote.
OneOfManyParticipantShanah Tova!
OneOfManyParticipantAwww modddddddds…
OneOfManyParticipantWell, if they are trying to steal your brain (or if they are named Brain)… ^_^
September 16, 2012 6:59 am at 6:59 am in reply to: Where to start becoming Jewish when family roots discovered #991174OneOfManyParticipantYeah, you misread.
OneOfManyParticipantWIY: They do say that dolphins are the most intelligent of the animals, but why do you think that means that they are the only intelligent creatures?
OneOfManyParticipant-_- As opposed to bugs, guys. Answering the question as asked.
OneOfManyParticipantlol, Sketchbook and Photoshop are my programs of choice! I generally use Sketchbook for sketches or simpler drawing with cell shading, and Photoshop for mor painterly stuff. I’ve also heard people speak highly of OpenCanvas and Corel Painter, but I didn’t like OpenCanvas that much. I still wanna try Painter, but maybe when I’m really bored…
Yeah, those Cintiqs are pretty nifty-looking…I prefer my Create, though. It’s a higher end Bamboo, so it’s got the tablet surface area, while still being light and portable. Also, in terms of the Intuoses, I feel that all the added features they offer – lots of ExpressKeys, touch capabilities – are not really necessary for me. And while there is a difference in sensitivity levels, it’s also not so important to me – so it sense half an inch above the tablet surface as opposed to only a quarter? I dunno, I think a quarter is pretty good…
OneOfManyParticipantApart from whether it is halachicly permissible, let’s just remember that as it is natural for humans to feel more sympatheic toward creatures of higher intelligence (since they are closer to humans themselves), wanting to kill one for no particluar reason probably means you are a psychopath.
OneOfManyParticipantI’m into character and environment design, primarily 2D. I don’t really know how to work in 3D (but there are courses in that later on in my program). Oh, and I have a Bamboo Create. 😉 (The funny thing is I used to have an Intuos, but one day I was playing around with my father’s Bamboo and decided I liked it better, so we traded. :P)
