ohr chodeshMember
Eisev sonah l’Yaakov.
ohr chodeshMemberI see a thread in the CY mag in every months issue.
July 13, 2012 12:22 am at 12:22 am in reply to: IDEA: Let the 100,000 attendees at the Siyum Hashas #884877ohr chodeshMemberThe Gedolei Yisroel sitting at the dais at the siyum, virtually unanimously are stringently opposed to the draft and consider it a Shaas Shmad.
They are the ones who count.
ohr chodeshMemberWhat is it?
And if you need to ask, probably not.
ohr chodeshMemberTo serve man.
ohr chodeshMemberThrow him out.
ohr chodeshMemberI need a Joker.
ohr chodeshMemberWhat happens in the coffee room, stays in the coffee room.
ohr chodeshMemberBerlin: These zionistic wars are very very far away from being a milchemes mitzvah. (And that is even if the concept would have been applicable today.)
July 11, 2012 3:19 pm at 3:19 pm in reply to: Responsibility to serve – without the politics #884332ohr chodeshMemberThey cant cut benefits without cutting the benefits for Arab Israelis too. Politically untenable.
ohr chodeshMemberIt isn’t an equal choice. Talmud Torah is a much much higher level and a much higher form of protection than being armed with guns and bombs.
ohr chodeshMemberTalmud Torah Kneged Kulum.
ohr chodeshMembergetzel: That is a completely incorrect definition.
ohr chodeshMemberNewhere:
Can you please provide the maare makom where shulchan aruch says a cesarian b’chor does not receive two portions?
ohr chodeshMemberZahavasdad: Dead wrong. Rabbeinu Gershom did NOT change Torah Law. That’s like saying when a Kehila makes a takana against large chasunas they are changing Torah Law, since the Torah doesn’t prohibit large simchas. Its a takana.
ohr chodeshMemberAccording to Torah Law you can own slaves and have multiple wives. We don’t have slaves because local law prevent us; and Teimanim Yidden (some) still have a second wife. Ashkenazim have a takana not to. That takana doesn’t violate Torah Law.
ohr chodeshMemberA heimishe Yid believes in Daas Torah and has a strong mesorah.
July 10, 2012 5:11 pm at 5:11 pm in reply to: what is your worst language? what's ur favorite? #1006475ohr chodeshMemberOomis: I suppose you have the same feeling for Italian and the Romans, considering what they did to the Beis Hamikdash and the Jewry they murdered in Yerushalayim.
July 10, 2012 5:09 pm at 5:09 pm in reply to: what is your worst language? what's ur favorite? #1006474ohr chodeshMemberThe tzionim already sold out all of Judaism.
ohr chodeshMemberTorah Law is eternal and does not change with the wind or so-called “human nature”.
ohr chodeshMemberThere is no reason that the mother should received custody instead of the father by default, just because she is the mother.
ohr chodeshMemberAll things being equal, under a normal situation, why should the mother or father receive primary custody automatically just because she or he is the mother/father?
ohr chodeshMemberHis discarding his yarmulka in public, is very far from being irrelevant.
ohr chodeshMemberAnd if chazir was kosher, you could eat it.
ohr chodeshMemberAnd look where Matisyahu ended up. First the beard and payos got shaved off. And then he was running around without, even, a yarmulka.
July 5, 2012 3:10 am at 3:10 am in reply to: MUST READ- Real Solutions to the Internet Challenge #922707ohr chodeshMemberDaas Yochid: +1 on EVERYTHING you posted on this thread. You are 100% on target.
It is amazing how naive and foolish and willfuly blind some posters here can be.
ohr chodeshMemberHis being on the show is a tremendous Chillul Hashem. A KH/CH is primarily determined by how other Jews will see it. Since other Jews hearing that he was on a TV show may mistakenly think, C”V, that there is nothing wrong with the idea, it is a massive CH.
ohr chodeshMemberkodesh: I don’t know if you’ll ever be happy with any wife.
ohr chodeshMemberArtificial cutesiness is untznius?
ohr chodeshMemberJbaldy, your argument might have some validity. Though two points: 1) it is and was unusual to not wear a yarmulka, even if one is wearing a hat. So I doubt the MB implies what you are saying. Rather it means a hat plus a yarmulka. And 2) in either case, the MB is very clear that a full hat is required.
ohr chodeshMembermewho, what does cutesy mean?
ohr chodeshMemberI hate to say it, popa, but many people who use many kulas attack people who use chumros, just as you made macha’a about.
ohr chodeshMemberWhat’s better for a Kindle Fire? An android app Siddur or a Kindle ebook Siddur?
ohr chodeshMemberFedup is 100% correct. The language in the MB quoted by fedup clearly means 2 coverings. One under the hat plus the hat.
ohr chodeshMemberBT? I see very frum (ffb) wearing hats during the meal all the time. Others just wear it for kiddush and bentching.
ohr chodeshMemberDoesn’t the Gemorah say that while men react with intelligence, women react with emotion? Maybe the same Gemorah with Noshim Daaton Kalos.
ohr chodeshMemberTo cut right to the chase of the matter, and answer the OP’s question as phrased in the title of this thread, Why Are Men More Intelligent Than Women?
Because that’s how Hashem created us. Hashem created men and women differently, not equally. Men have their strengths and women have their strengths. Men are involved in intellectual pursuits in life to a far greater degree than women, traditionally. Thus Hashem gave men a stronger intellectual foundation.
ohr chodeshMemberWhy take off the yarmulka? Put a baseball cap on.
ohr chodeshMemberThe mussar seforim are full of fire and brimstone. Fire and brimstone is a legitimate and effective and historical Jewish form of mussar.
ohr chodeshMemberThe laws of supply and demand favor bochors very strongly.
June 15, 2012 12:48 pm at 12:48 pm in reply to: Can someone with unfiltered internet be a ???? ?????? #1134180ohr chodeshMemberIf a shul has a posted policy that people with unfiltered internet cannot daven for the amud, and somone with unfiltered internet davens for the amud without beind moda his status to the rov or gabboim, is he considered a ganav or something else?
ohr chodeshMemberWho was Pondira?
ohr chodeshMemberWhat does “pundrik” mean?
ohr chodeshMemberIf other Torah authorities disagree with Rabbi Schachter, they may consider the get invalid and future children to be illegitimate.
ohr chodeshMemberThe Twizzlers with the special heimeshe hechsher comes off a special run with special supervision by the heimishe hechsher. So, yes, even that is a special chumra (contastant kashrus supervision) that many consumers insist upon and willingly pay a premium for. (They could buy the regular Twizzlers, easily, for less.) It is entirely legit and there are other similar examples.
ohr chodeshMemberThe chasidishe hechsheirim are machmir on many chumras.
ohr chodeshMemberWhen beating a husband is permissible is a very delicate and subtle decision that only a well accepted beis din of big talmidei chachomim can pasken. Because sometimes halachicly a beis din is permitted to beat a recalcitant husband to force him to give a Get, and it is a valid Get. Other times it is impermissible for a beis din to beat a husband who refuses to give a Get, to force him to give one. And if they do beat him, or even apply lesser impermissible pressures, the resulting Get is invalid.
ohr chodeshMemberHe may have thought you were trying to, umm, ingratiate yourself with him.
ohr chodeshMemberDidn’t Mary Poppins have one of those?
ohr chodeshMemberWho needs a “giyur lchumra”?
