And so, the biggest problem facing the Jewish people: lot versus Brooklyn.
Okay, not such a big problem after all.
Except if there’s no final conclusion about which one is better, they’re in essence there’s problems in both places.
The biggest problem being…?
offbeat2MemberIf people rationalize and use WhatsApp INSTEAD of social media, who are they kidding?? is WhatsApp as popular in the secular world as it is in the frum world?
offbeat2Member@rebyidd23 uh… Why are raffles and auctions considered a “serious decision”?
What’s serious about an event that’s meant to be fun and entertaining?
offbeat2MemberDo you get it?
Don’t know about their campaign they started tonight? Seems like they’re pretty serious about it!!no jokes!
offbeat2MemberDoes anyone truly believe they’ll win?
offbeat2MemberSorry to interrupt everyone, but only one organization is benefitting from the lottery aside from the powerball themselves- Oorah is capitalizing on the hype and accepting pledges minimum of 1 million if you win the auction.
Heard even rechnitz pledged!!!
offbeat2Memberit’s too
offbeat2MemberI agree with the above system. But do you think that will help the “shidduch crisis”??
Any innovative ideas on what can help the shidduch crisis?
offbeat2MemberI guess fast is a place where you eat

offbeat2Memberas a girl in shidduchim, I once saw a shadchan take my resume and place it into a huge stack of other resumes.
Then it hit me why resumes are wrong: this shadchan will now hand this stack to the boys’ mothers. she can look through the stack, find the “perfect” one, and mazel tov!
Without giving a single (pun intended) other girl a chance. Because her resume, and then her whole life, is not as perfect.
As if there are perfect people in the world.
And when the girl does not act like the girl from her resume, poof, the shidduchs over…

regarding relying on shadchanim-there is a certain monopoly based on the system. Dating sites or informal shadchanim (based on your types) can help solve that issue.
offbeat2MemberForget the expense.

lol
offbeat2MemberI didn’t say I myself don’t think that Orthodox jews wont know how to care for pets, just quoted it.
Orthodox jews will be less likely to own pets because they’ll need to give it more care than they’ll have time for.
And it’s an added expense too.
December 23, 2015 3:29 am at 3:29 am in reply to: Are the girls causing their own shidduch crisis?? #1120589offbeat2MemberI think seminary is an awesome experience.
I think the year after seminary is an experience too. Not as awesome, but more of an experience.
offbeat2MemberPets have immune systems too.
Heard a comment from a MO lady: Orthodox jews should never have pets because they won’t know how to take care of them.
And there’s a ton of halachos involved, if you know them all you wont WANT to own a pet:) lol
offbeat2MemberMost chareidim don’t have internet??
Where are you living…?
December 22, 2015 2:02 pm at 2:02 pm in reply to: Are the girls causing their own shidduch crisis?? #1120568offbeat2MemberDo you think girls don’t know if boys reject them?? If the shadchanim are involved in getting them married, hopefully they are trying! And if it didn’t lead to a date, obviously they’re being rejected. By seeing actual work of the shadchanim, they’ll only be comforted.
Hopefully.
December 22, 2015 2:39 am at 2:39 am in reply to: Are the girls causing their own shidduch crisis?? #1120564offbeat2MemberMaybe shadchanim should show their logs! The singles will appreciate it more, and will therefore give the shadchanim the incentives they deserve.

And i do want to win it anyway, as crazy as it is. sort of feeding the monster, but they have awesome prizes aside from that one.
Therapy anyone? That’s one prize i think they nailed-very apropos in this day and age:)

December 21, 2015 5:33 pm at 5:33 pm in reply to: Are the girls causing their own shidduch crisis?? #1120554offbeat2MemberAnd I guess by ANY chinese auction, if you’re meant to have money, you will, with or without winning $36,000 or free tuition for a year…
December 21, 2015 5:32 pm at 5:32 pm in reply to: Are the girls causing their own shidduch crisis?? #1120553offbeat2MemberIt’s just hard because when shadchanim prefer one type of girl/boy over the other, monetary reasons or otherwise, even though yes we know that we have our bashert and shadchanim dont make a difference, in our perspective they do.
December 21, 2015 2:08 pm at 2:08 pm in reply to: Are the girls causing their own shidduch crisis?? #1120546offbeat2MemberAs someone in shidduchim, I certainly agree with the fact that shadchanim need further incentives to continue redting shidduchim. For obvious reasons, I won’t mention my shadchan, but here’s a call out to all our amazing shadchanim!
What has gone too far though, is when shadchanim only redt to those who are more wealthy, more classy, than the average girl(or boy).
Flipping through a recent fundraising auction book, one of the prizes was shadchan gelt- as in 25k for my shadchan if she makes me a shidduch.
like come on, are we that low, that the shadchan gelt has to be a PRIZE in a chinese AUCTION??
offbeat2MemberProfound as usual. Although random in this scenario translates to mean unrelated, as unrelated as possible. Two unrelated titles can potentially be measured on how distant each individual title is from the post itself. And the winner can be chosen based on that.
offbeat2MemberThere should be a contest for The Most Random Title For My Post
(always wanted to do it for subject lines in my work emails)
December 20, 2015 3:08 am at 3:08 am in reply to: Are chassidic women allowed to fly planes? #1117801offbeat2MemberJust because all the times you’ve flown you haven’t flown with a woman pilot , doesn’t mean most pilots aren’t women.
Just because most chassidish women aren’t pilots doesn’t mean most women aren’t either.

Whats the age when you stop making fun of yourself on account of friends who find older single jokes offensive?
