I like using natural, local materials. This year, I collected pinecones around the neighborhood and we’ll be rolling them in glue, then in glitter, and hanging them up — pretty and shimmery. A more involved project I did today is hanging lamps. I saved some opened cans of olives, washed them out, and then punched out designs in them with a hammer and nail. Then just stick a tea light candle in the bottom and voila, hanging lamps that look gorgeous at night. You could also paint or cover the can in paper or contact paper before you punch out the design, but I’m here in Israel and think my cans of Kibbutz Yavne olives are cute the way they are.
