ahirsch: i remember r elyashiv held a hot plate it worse than a belch and needs to be covered in foil
notsuchalamdan16Participantwallflower: the problem with the thrill is that once they get married and the “thrill” of a new marriage fades, they will be looking for the thrill of hatzoloh calls and the nitty gritty that a marriage needs in order to work will be lacking and might strain the marriage as the wife can feel something is more important than she is. thats why shana rishona guidelines are needed and why single guys shouldn’t be allowed on
notsuchalamdan16Participanti know that they had to make shana rishona gedarim for hatzoloh members in certain areas because of sholom bayis i.e.:calls late at night, too many calls
notsuchalamdan16Participanti think he means the picture of the lay who contributed to the stark article in the post

August 15, 2013 12:49 pm at 12:49 pm in reply to: Is this a chesed that should be passed up? #971095notsuchalamdan16Participantgoq: whats the mayla in doing that?
notsuchalamdan16Participanttaom: my rov once told me when i asked him about my thoughts wandering during davening and he said to rub forehead while your praying and it helps…works for me every time gl!
notsuchalamdan16Participanti don’t know if the juice requires a hechsher or not but i do know that all the parts to make your own flavor are avail with a hechsher except the nicotine and menthol crystals. as far as effectiveness, in my experience using it and seeing my friends use it, its a mental commitment that you are no longer smoking cigarettes and even with that commitment the second you don’t have it like on holidays and passover most guys run straight back to the real thing. its good because when u use it ur not actually smoking but bad because you use it much more increasing you nicotine intake and is not really effective in helping one quit

notsuchalamdan16Participantagain zd has no interest in any debate he wants to rip rip rip (proven by the fact that he made up a story) so he sits by his computer where no one knows who he is and does just that.
notsuchalamdan16Participantthats a nice way of saying lets find anything we think is controversial and rip on it… you don’t even know for sure its true and you don’t know where or any of the details you completely jumped the gun just to rip when you saw the opportunity. and lets say it was in fact true and some chasidishe rebbe went and made such a ban YOUR the one to question him?! bringing it up can only lead to lashon hara nothing practical and nothing lemaysa so please leave saving the world to superman you accomplished nothing with this thread and the only thing you could have accomplished was bringing more bad publicity to a world that doesn’t need it. your not in the same league as any rebbe and said rebbe certainly would not have had to answer to you. and by the way every type of orthodoxy has kids at risk and going off the derech the motivation to go on a tv show is purely money
notsuchalamdan16Participanto and if your trying to save the world i don’t think the coffee room on yeshiva world is going to help anything its just for the sake of ranting and can only lead to extreme lashon hara
notsuchalamdan16Participanti think nisht’s point is that 1. the OP decided to take a story and blow it up into something bigger and make it a religious and chumra fight when theres nothing to support that, 2. i have not been here long but zd does seem to have a vendetta against these types of things which explains nisht’s uneasiness 3. even if this ban were true none is forcing it upon anyone except those people in that community and 4. don’t hide behind your religion and say kol yisroel areivim and use it as an excuse to spread sin as chinam on those you don’t necessarily agree with hashkafically.

notsuchalamdan16Participantas an SY from the community i must say rebdoniel is completely off. yes in the past we needed to import rabbonim but now? in the past five to ten years there has been a huge push in prioritizing learning there are numerous programs for full time learners and hundreds of baalebatim learning every morning from as early as five o’clock am before they run off to work and many young people finishing up kollel are now returning and taking positions in the community. the reason why we don’t have so many doctors and lawyers is because syrians didn’t need to go run after these professions in order to make money they went into businesses and were very successful without the need for years of college and please don’t “poster boy” our community with this rabbis four was kicked out a long time ago, ask any competent person their thoughts on “r” shammah, and rabbi abadie has no bearing on the community except for his seemingly lenient passover list
July 30, 2013 2:05 pm at 2:05 pm in reply to: Best Store in NJ to buy a black jacket for davening #968519notsuchalamdan16Participanttheres a store in lakewood its like the hat box outlet store its called mr. price next to wine on the nine haven’t been there in a while but i once bought a wool suit there for eighty dollars u can google the phone number give em a call
notsuchalamdan16Participantthe yeshiva i went to in israel after high school recently had bachurim in their rooms feel something getting closer then being choked one boy saw his door open a little and like a shadow come in
notsuchalamdan16Participantand i thought the whole greatness of sem is that girls could rough it and don’t have to worry about looking perfect bec its only friends around them not every outfit needs its own shoe and makeup doesn’t need to be reapplied every seven min.
notsuchalamdan16Participanti didn’t mean that because she brought to much they shouldn’t help her i for one would have definitely helped her and since when does grabbing a suitcase violate shomer negia? theres nothing worse than ppl being too religious that they totally disregard others irrationally like the guy who prays for fifteen minutes when theres ten ppl in a minyan and were waiting to start chazara or when that fifteen minutes guy doesn’t let me finish praying because he’s standing behind me
notsuchalamdan16Participantlets get to the bigger problem here… why is it that every girl needs to bring a house and a half with them to seminary?
notsuchalamdan16Participantdepends…if he’s doing nothing? maybe. if he’s learning? should he stop learning to sweep the floor? no by learning he is SHARING THE BURDEN
