noitallmrParticipantA successful business man was growing old and knew it was time to
choose a successor to take over the business.
Instead of choosing one of his Directors or his children, he decided
to do something different.
He gathered the young executives in his company. He said, “It is time
for me to step down and choose the next CEO. I have decided to
choose one of you. “
The executives were shocked. The boss continued “I am going to give
each one of you a SEED today – one special SEED. I want you to plant
it, water it, and come back one year from today with what you have
grown from the seed I have given you. I will then judge the
plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next CEO.”
One man, Jim, went home and excitedly told his wife the story. She got
a pot, soil and helped plant the seed. Everyday, he’d water it and
watch to see if it had grown.
After a few weeks, the executives began to talk about their seeds and
the plants that were beginning to grow.
Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew.
Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing.
By now, others were talking about their plants, but Jim didn’t have a
plant and he felt like a failure.
Six months went by – nothing. Jim knew he killed his seed. Everyone
had plants and trees…he had nothing.
Jim didn’t say anything to his colleagues, however. He just kept
watering and fertilizing the soil – He so wanted the seed to grow.
A year went by and all the executives brought their plants to the
CEO for inspection. Jim told his wife that he wasn’t going to take an
empty pot. But she asked him to be honest about what happened. Jim
felt sick to his stomach, it was going to be the most
embarrassing moment of his life, but he knew his wife was right.
He took his empty pot to the board room. When Jim arrived, he was
amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other executives. They
were beautiful — in all shapes and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on
the floor and many of his colleagues laughed, a few felt sorry for
him!
When the CEO arrived, he greeted his executives.
Jim tried to hide in the back. “My, what great plants, trees, and
flowers you have grown,” said the CEO.
“Today one of you will be appointed the next CEO!”
All of a sudden, the CEO saw Jim at the back of the room with his
empty pot and ordered Jim to come forward.
Jim was terrified. He thought, “The CEO knows I’m a failure! Maybe he
will have me fired!”
When Jim got to the front, the CEO announced, “Behold your next
Chief Executive Officer! His name is Jim!”
Jim couldn’t believe it. Jim couldn’t even grow his
seed.
“How could he be the new CEO?” the others said.
Then the CEO said, “One year ago today, I gave everyone in this
room a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and
bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds; they
were dead – it was not possible for them to grow.
All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and flowers.
When you realized that the seed would not grow, you substituted
another seed for the one I gave you. Jim was the only one with the
courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore,
he is the one who will be the new CEO!”
* If you plant honesty, you will reap trust
* If you plant goodness, you will reap friends
* If you plant humility, you will reap greatness
* If you plant perseverance, you will reap contentment
* If you plant consideration, you will reap perspective
* If you plant hard work, you will reap success
* If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation
* If you plant faith in Hashem , you will reap a harvest
So, be careful what you plant now; it will determine what you will
reap later.

noitallmrParticipantJax: I should’ve known! You too thanx!
noitallmrParticipantJax: thanx very much I will!
And yeah I know you call it vacation but just reminding you I’m English!!!
noitallmrParticipantIt’s only when you don’t feel comfortable in a persons presence do you feel the urge to talk…
noitallmrParticipantJAX! Welcome back buddy- how was vacation? I’m still here rotting away in ol’ U.K but my hols are coming up fast on Sunday after Tisha Ba’v- thats when I’m cruising off. Hope to hear from you that your a skilled pilot cruising around the skies in your ancient Boeing 747!!! Hopefully after the Summer well come back for a bit but otherwise stick around for now!!!
noitallmrParticipantThese people who go running to our biggest enemies are sick. There’s no other way of describing them- mentally ill.
noitallmrParticipantHow about being able to comment in the Simchas section??? That would be v nice!
noitallmrParticipantSee ya all at the next Grand Reunion! When we will all be back in full force inc myself!!!
noitallmrParticipantI’m only leaving after Tisha Ba’av…Sunday!
Boohoo that’s what you get when you live in the U.K- short hols! Sniff Sniff…
noitallmrParticipantWell mepal- I’ve been there and done that. yes I am talking more about English guys and we tend to keep things, not majorly private, but not very open either. We see dating as a more private section of our life and to be honest I think that is the way it should be. Obviously every guy needs a friend or friends to discuss it with thats very natural, I had friends and we told each other most things but I’d still call it private…
postsemgirl- yup sounds like just the normal things…about smoking, there is zero reason why it should be cool to smoke absolutely zero. But the fact is that its called a chilled thing in todays society to just “chill and have a cig”. I think it’s because it’s just a don’t careish thing to do. I know it’s unhealthy and I know people will look down at me but I just don’t care two hoots which makes it cool. Sadly not caring what people think about you is called “cool”. Yes I agree that it is a major advantage in a way but it can be a major disadvantage if you have too much of it.
noitallmrParticipantpostsemgirl- it sure does! It wasn’t too long ago that I was in the Parsha and we DID used to discuss Shidduchim but only with your really good friends that you can trust to keep your secrets…the last thing you need is stuff like shiduchim getting into the infamous “grapevine”!
Are girls very open to each other regarding shidduchim?
noitallmrParticipantpostsemgirl: well to be honest the good guys don’t sit around at all and especially not discussing sems! But unofficialy yeah we do know about sems a bit as bein hasdorim says that those of who had sisters in sem used to be filled in on the info by them. But I’m quite sure you spend more time discussing it then us! And don’t be shy- all questions send my way…;)
noitallmrParticipantpostsemgirl- you are 100% right not to delve into the aspects of Yeshivas- not because of frumkeit just its a waste of time. Us guys know all the ins and outs of every yeshiva and it sounds like you have a perfectly capable brother in law who will know far more than you will ever know even after going into it…Loads of Hatzlocho and I really hope you find your bashert b’korov!
