October 26, 2011 8:10 pm at 8:10 pm in reply to: Should Jews Give Candy This Coming Monday Night? #1105078nitpickerParticipant
someone used the phrase “Thousands of Gedolim”
Was that a typo? it sounds like an oxymoron
nitpickerParticipantI side with miritchka.
to BaalHabooze:
maybe so, but is everything he does, A story to be reported?
last word.
nitpickerParticipantto shein: it depends what you mean. most rabbonnim wouldnt touch a question like this and would refer it to someone of gadol or near gadol status.
I can’t think why, all they need do is post and wait for an answer. (sneer)
This public discussion is dangerous and can lead to being machshil people.
mods, what do you think?
This is my last word on this topic
nitpickerParticipantTo Dr. Seuss:
Yes indeed, that was the point.
As I wrote in earlier post, such a situation requires the attention of competent rabbonnim, not to be trifled with by
coffee addicts.
nitpickerParticipantThere is at least one in igros moshe that required a get
and at least one that did not.
nitpickerParticipantwhat do you mean, “A famous story”.
Many such stories have happend and each requires
being dealt with by competent rabbonnim.
it is unfortunate that young people (boys and girls)
sometimes regard doing this as a great joke.
the proper response of the girl should be to immediately
remove and return or drop the ring; and/or she should immediately
say, “no I am not!”. or something to that effect.

the term you want may be cognate
October 24, 2011 4:36 pm at 4:36 pm in reply to: Temple Beth El in BP ought to become an Aish Kodesh type shul! #822276nitpickerParticipantI have only read a few of the posts on this thread and will offer
no opinion on what bp needs now.
I am offended by the thread itself.
The very idea of saying what they should become and asking
others for opinions! What gall!
October 18, 2011 5:58 pm at 5:58 pm in reply to: What to do to the chazzan who takes too long for hallel #818608nitpickerParticipantre: when they pelted the tzeduki with esrogim.
There is some historical confusion as to who exactly this was.
Josephus is not always to be completely accepted.
nitpickerParticipantMany afghans believe they are descended from the the lost tribes
and will even claim to know which shevet. they are nominally moslems, though.
nitpickerParticipantIt usually isnt bees that you see in your succah or ‘Bee’ trap.
it is usually yellow jackets or other type of wasp.
They are more willing to sting than bees, but still probaply
won’t unless they feel attacked.
nitpickerParticipanttry concentrating on the sof pasuk and esnachta and the rest may fall into place. if that doesnt do it, try the zakef katon.
October 3, 2011 10:45 pm at 10:45 pm in reply to: Why do some people DAVKA stress the wrong part of words while davening or leining? #814371nitpickerParticipant1) you think they do it b’dvaka? they couldn’t do that if they wanted to.
Those you refer to who get almost every word wrong have no feeling for it.
2) the use of “baal koreh” certainly is correct. it is used in gemorroh kidushin.
other terms may be correct also. but I have never heard the term baal makre. (how do you enter hebrew characters?
3) RE: ????”? ???? ?????? ??
(I cut and pasted that)
do you ever recite t’helos?
October 3, 2011 6:24 pm at 6:24 pm in reply to: IMPORTANT: Don't forget Kiddush on Yom Kippur #1034000nitpickerParticipantalso: In practice this question rarely applies since a person who must eat on yom kippur will generally eat only very small amounts
at one time, not enough to be kiddush b’makom seudah.
October 3, 2011 6:16 pm at 6:16 pm in reply to: IMPORTANT: Don't forget Kiddush on Yom Kippur #1033999nitpickerParticipantRegarding Rav yisroel Salanter making kiddush:
This fact is disputed, and there contradictory versions of the
story each perportedly traceble to people who were there!
nitpickerParticipantWisdom TEETH!?
I thought they don’t take out more than one at a time.
nitpickerParticipantfargin means allow.
nitpickerParticipantTO OOMIS1105
Not so simple. Who is the rav to you? Do you always rely on him?
Has the psak been reliably proven wrong? ( I mean proven. for example, he forgot a ruling in shulchan aruch and does not have an explanation as to why he ruled differently).
more such ifs could be posed.
nitpickerParticipantRe the post by Health:
I wonder if anyone reader thought that funny rather than sick.
nitpickerParticipantalopecia is a very general term. however some forms of alopecia
are an auto-immune disorder.
July 27, 2011 11:48 pm at 11:48 pm in reply to: PLEASE HELP, ONLY RESPOND IF YOU ARE A MATURE HOMEOWNER> #790920nitpickerParticipantyou ask “is this mesira?”.
is that how one gets a psak halacha these days,
post a question to an open forum for various peoples opinions?
April 21, 2011 4:13 pm at 4:13 pm in reply to: I Guess I'm Out Of My Mind… And You May Be Too… #760834nitpickerParticipantAs an aside, some who daven asheknaz do say hallel.
In the lakewood yeshiva, they say hallel after waiting
a few moments for the non-sayers to leave.
Rav Shneur used to walk out also, and then slip back
in and say a hallel from the back of the shule.
