There is a fifference between Ma’vir and Kiboi as to Mitoch. Therefore lowering was considered permitted only if it was directly a Oichel Nefesh issue. and thus many did not allow to lower the flame but rather to start a new lower flame on pilot run stove. I was told though that R’ Moshe zt’l allowed lowering these flames.

We have been taught to dress up for shabbos not dress down. I agree that pushing the swing may be difficult in a 3 piece suit. But you have a dress down attitude towards Shabbos. The reason the generations have found going to shul so crucial on Shabbos is not because we have time since we aren’t working. But rather we aren’t working in order to be able to absorb and reconnect with Hashem. You realized that wearing shorts to shul would be inappropriate.

As a purveyor of Torah it also would bespoke proper decorum I am not discussing whether your attire was proper or not but whether that an attitude and of respect is appropriate and required.

Accepting and tolerating and chashuv have absolutely nothing to do with the issue. I myself am an out of towner and working…But I recognized that I am obligated to recognize and conform to yeshiva standards. Be it Tznius, chashivos Hatorah etc. One shouldn’t come here on the account of waiting to be accepted or even demanding acceptance and accommodation . (I mean after all: the churban, sinas Chinum, gaavah,…. blah, blah, blah) One should need to recognize what Lakewood stood for and strive to grow accordingly.

    Jothar

You vehemently disagree that the environment has changed or you just couldn’t care less as it doesn’t impinge on your lifestyle?

The infrastructure involved would be almost impossible to replace as this would involve creating basically a town and mosdos. The size of the Kollel is in the thoasands

I’m stunned. Every single thing that Jothar wrote is true. So then you got this guy complaining that it is Kinah. Then you got the guy who says he should have Hakoras Hatov because…totally unfathomable what he is taking about. Oh, and the guy who says …so move out…..or the Yeshiva should move if they don’t approve…….totally clueless to the changed society. Wild stuff. Sorry it is not an Ir hatorah anymore. And all you guys who we are supposed to have hakoras hatov for. Sure, just keep assuaging you conscience by donating with the funds….that you partially acquired from yeshivaleit that in desperation are buying your overinflated priced housing for fear that next year will be worse. The resat are from the people Jothar is writing about.

You are assuming that people will see that one is NOT using this type of questionable or even dangerous technology. Pray tell how one can impress by his own behavior on others, in this kind of situation, without addressing the issue directly?

In addition as the possible benefits from much of this technology or for that matter much of it becoming practically as neccesary as the light bulb, automatically gives pause to each thinking that he can personally evaluate his situation…….His, he may propose is different than his friends and thus his friends behavior is discounted.
