Do you mean female vs make?
Your question is based on a supposition that is a fantasy.
nishtdayngesheftParticipantZD,
Who said there is no reason? Who said the reason has to be explained to everyone (and it’s only an assumption that a reason wasn’t given). Parents should not give a reason for every rule they make for their children.
The principal did not say that the girl’s cannot wear high tops, she only said they can’t wear to school. (Read OP comment). So I am not sure what you mean about doing something different behind her back.
You differentiation between girls in charedi schools vs mo is inot factual in the least. One would wonder whether you have met girls who went to any schools.
Your comment is demeaning to girls in all schools.
nishtdayngesheftParticipantIt seems reasonable for a school to have a dress code. Perhaps this is a newish item (I don’t know, my daughters only wore after an injury) so the dress code was updated.
There is no reason to get carried away and say these are unreasonable Chumros.
Just like professional offices have dress codes , a school can also and it is not just tznius matters.

This is a misunderstanding.
Chareidim do not look to throw people out.
Keeping half Shabbos is not keeping Shabbos at all.
Your definition certainly does not apply to knowledgeable MO.
Your difference would seem to be more related to those who have robust Jewish education or not.
There are differences, but this is not it.
nishtdayngesheftParticipant“I would define MO as a Talmid or follower of a Talmid of Rav Yoshe Ber, whether it is Rabbi Twersky HYD, Rabbi Shechter, Rabbi Meiselman, or Rabbi Avi Weiss.”
This is a very unique definition. Not one that I have seen shared by anyone else. Certainly not the people who you are calling MO, except perhaps Rabbi Shachter.

Rag Feivel never said he was a dayan. He said this is a matter for Beis Din.
He was asked a shailah as to what would be proper. That is exactly what he responded to.
You seem to be somewhat confused about the meaning of certain titles throughout this whole discussion.
January 9, 2017 7:14 pm at 7:14 pm in reply to: Lakewood Resident Screaming About New Shopping Mall #1208602nishtdayngesheftParticipant“Sure, my question is why does Rabbi Cohen have jurisdiction in Lakewood “
Rav Feivel Cohen is a most certainly a “Senior” Posek. R Elyashiv used to refer shailos in America to him. And he lives in Lakewood.
And apparently what he said is that this is a matter for a Beis Din.
I don’t think he said what the Beis Din should pasken.
I am guessing Rav Feivel was asked by people who live in Pine River Village, which is right across from the proposed mall and is also where Rav Feivel lives.

Neither is in anyway affiliated with the Orthodox community in Rockland to put it mildly.
That should tell you something about the articles.
And that should shed some light on the commenters who feel there was nothing wrong with the articles in the Urinal news.
January 4, 2017 11:53 pm at 11:53 pm in reply to: Lakewood Resident Screaming About New Shopping Mall #1208509nishtdayngesheftParticipantLC,
Her concerns were that they are building this mall almost immediately opposite where she lives.
I will acknowledge that I did not listen to every word that the woman said. But I do know what the sentiments and frustrations of the people who live in that area are.
SO yes, she is worried about a mall opening across the street from her and that will result in her grandkids “playing” in the mall “parking” lot. Which will extend to the front of her house because of all the resulting congestion.
January 4, 2017 9:42 pm at 9:42 pm in reply to: Lakewood Resident Screaming About New Shopping Mall #1208500nishtdayngesheftParticipantZD,
So what are you saying? So there are frum Yodden at those malls? Fine. How does that make this area appropriate for a huge mall?
I can’t figure out what point you are attempting to make.
Try focusing less on how you feel about him and it will clear your mind a bit for the interpretation
January 4, 2017 9:39 pm at 9:39 pm in reply to: Lakewood Resident Screaming About New Shopping Mall #1208499nishtdayngesheftParticipantGAW,
I do mind, because I do not know if she does want her name included here.
And I can say I wouldn’t blame her.
LC,
The issue is that right in the middle of a very congested area there are plans to develop a huge mall (50 acres, with almost 900 parking slots. 13 large stores). The infra structure cannot support so much additional traffic. It is not just off a major highway. It is off of two lane through streets. Or something like CIA for Cedarbridge.
The original plan was for corporate buildings, which would not generate nearly the same volume of traffic.
January 4, 2017 6:43 pm at 6:43 pm in reply to: Lakewood Resident Screaming About New Shopping Mall #1208494nishtdayngesheftParticipantGAW,
Apparently you do not know who this woman is.
January 4, 2017 6:41 pm at 6:41 pm in reply to: Lakewood Resident Screaming About New Shopping Mall #1208493nishtdayngesheftParticipantZD,
You clearly do not know the layout of Lakewood if you do not know what her issues are.
In addition, the stores that will be at the mall are likely big box stores and will impact the Jewish stores.
December 29, 2016 11:02 pm at 11:02 pm in reply to: Psak of Rav Kook on Chazal vs Scientists #1208796nishtdayngesheftParticipantZD,
Can you cite the Rambam that you say you are disagreeing with DY about.
Can you tell us which specific halacha your are referring to?
Some of us would like to read the Rambam with the nosei keilim.
nishtdayngesheftParticipant“According to some here, Every event, no matter where it is, is a message from hashem we should do tshuva, and my whole point was Its not so and cannot be so , especially nowdadys when we hear about the latest events almost instantanious from places we never heard of and cannot easily find on the map without help”
It appears that according to a certain poster here, that because he peruses the internet all day, the lessons taught to us by Chazal, about what we have to understand from tragedies, do not apply any more. The internet has made Chazal no longer applicable.
And that one who follows the words of Koheles, (7, 20) is following a Christian Ideology.
nishtdayngesheftParticipantWolf,
I think it might be “ub’cookies she’lohem lo sochailu”.
nishtdayngesheftParticipantExpanding on Avram in MD’s post, if one feel drawn to search Google for natural disasters and tragedies, the appropriate response to becoming aware of these events would be take them to heart and have at a minimum a hirhur of teshuva.
It should not , C’V, be used as reason to say “these are regularly occurring, thus it is clear that Hashem does not send messages to Klal Yisroel”
I do not profess to know why certain occurrences happen, however, a hirhur of teshuva is certainly appropriate for everyone, as it says “Ein Tzadik Bo’oretz Asher Yaseh Tov V’loh Yechtah.”
nishtdayngesheftParticipantZD,
Not sure what you are saying.
Are you arguing with the ??? ????? He said that we have to learn from such occurrences.
Are you arguing with the many ????? ???? that nothing happens in the world ??? ????? ?????? (Which is where the ??? ???? was forming his comment from).
Or, perhaps you were just reaffirming what I was saying, that we have become desensitized to these messages and now we get instantaneous messages of tragedies within our own communities?
But you are saying that these are everyday occurrences, and not messages! What type of messages do you want us to get? They are unfortunately messages arlready that tear at the hearts of normal feeling Jews. Oy how much harsher messages do you want us to get?
nishtdayngesheftParticipantNot only did Hillary lose 5 electors, there were 3 others who were removed because they weeee not going to vote for her.
In “true democratic fashion” their votes were not counted because they did not conform to the democratic party’s wishes.
Shows you that they are really a lot closer to communism
nishtdayngesheftParticipantThe Chofetz Chaim said about a earthquake in Asia, that it is a chisaron in emunah not to understand that this is a message for Klal Yisroel.
Apparently in this generation we are not getting the message and thus we have to get the instantaneous messages from anywhere in the world about tragedies that we can identify with, in order to get a message.
And these are tragedies because times have changes and these terrible occurrences are out of the realm of our regular thinking.

Traffic is crippling. In town. Whether or not you go by the Parkway to get to Lakewood. Try crossing the Lake.

Peoplemoving to neighboring towns when they purchase homes. Which is when they are moving out of rentals. There are a lot of rentals available in Lakewood.
nishtdayngesheftParticipant“People were getting intermarried and divorced before there was an internet”
Yet all the experts say that the incidence has increased greatly. And, these statistics are readily available, it’s not only relating to Frum Jews.
It is like saying, people get lung cancer before even though they were never smokers and were not exposed to smoking, so don’t say there is anything wrong with smoking.

nishtdayngesheftParticipantViznitz is on Phyllis Terrace.
Which runs between Maple (Opposite the Nursing Home) and 306.
Satmar is on the Corner of Maple and Monsey Blvd, I believe.
nishtdayngesheftParticipantThe big minyan factories in Monsey are Vishnitz and Skver, although I think Satmar has one as well.
New Square is not in Monsey. So if the OP wants or needs specifically Monsey then it’s Viznitz or Satmar in “old” Monsey. And as Efraim said Ohr Hachaim in Forshay.
nishtdayngesheftParticipant“In which case the response is not only wrong, but it is dangerous and can lead to Issurim.
The Mods have warned others about making assumptions about what others are thinking, and that certainly applies here as well.”
Do you know that “suspect” is different from “assume”? I wouldn’t assume that you do.
The Mods talk more about accepting a psak. Such as saying that striving to reach one’s tafkid (yes I am paraphrasing) can lead to issurim and is wrong.
nishtdayngesheftParticipantI suspect the OP question was referring to acting as a real Jew.
There are a halachic distinctions which are based on ????? ???? ???.
Which is more than just having a Jewish mother or a proper conversion.
nishtdayngesheftParticipantAlso,
The Rebbitzen was not well for quite a while yet. I guess that whatever arrangements were in place until this time will continue for the most part.
The Mashgiach should have a refuah shelaimah.
nishtdayngesheftParticipantM,
Actually, he should cite the story with R Kahana. That would make more sense. There are a lot of things to learn from in the masechta.
But, I don’t understand what the big questions is. Why do you think it is any different from any other person who loses a spouse?
nishtdayngesheftParticipant“You should learn Gemeroah Brachot “
Maseches Berachos is about 65 blatt. Perhaps you can be a tad more specific?
nishtdayngesheftParticipantChatzos will vary significantly across the whole time zone. But in any place it will not change significantly.
But noon changes by every time zone by an hour.
Your issue was that someone could not be consistent with “noon’ in a specific area, because you were considered about a train schedule. Which would be a specific place.
nishtdayngesheftParticipantZD,
The difference in “noon” or, actually, Chatzos only fluctuates by a few minutes throughout the year.
Defining noon is not an issue.
All this focus on trains and their schedules is odd, to say the least.
nishtdayngesheftParticipantMeno,
I have seen the notification on B&H’s website on Erev Shabbos saying that you only have “x” amount of time left to place the order. This is a paraphrase, however it was clear that they were closing down the order module for Shabbos.
They also post notices on their web site and in the store well before Yom Tov that they will be closed.
nishtdayngesheftParticipant“If you use Amazon fulfillment there is no way to shut it down for Shabbos”
How does this answer the question?
One would have to ask a Rov familiar with how Amazon fulfillment works (and there are Rabbonimm who are very knowledgeable about the specifics) and the one can get a psak.
nishtdayngesheftParticipantRY,
Depends on your insurance and if you buy your coffee at Starbucks.
Coffee may be much more expensive.
nishtdayngesheftParticipantAvi K,
Yiddish is far from dead, and certainly the brochos offered in yiddish are not dead.
Ah gutten kvittel is not the same as “Choref Tov” it is a totally different bracha. People also wish a Piska Tava.
The yiddish expression which you confused is “ah gezunte vinter”.
