He has no abiltiy to deal with people. Though he thinks he is great at relationships.
n0mesorahParticipantDear Chash,
I think we are missing each other’s point. I think the reaction to the stay home protesters, was they are being stupid. The virus will not go away because we want it to. The reaction today is, they are acting like they had enough. They will not go away until we deal with it.n0mesorahParticipantDear Syag,
No. The tone is one of generalization. [Wry expression.] The opinion was only the second sentence. No spots. No theater. No concerts. This was expected. If this would not have been the igniter, there would be some other tinderbox.n0mesorahParticipantDear Health,
Whoever he was, doesn’t detract from his being murdered. (If a liberal would have attempted abortion on him, we would have heard it from you!) You seem to be quite a detective. You inferred even what drug he was on, though the bystanders thought he was in peril from the officer. Witnesses? Eh. Narrative is by far the most important indicator of fact. This will become like Freddie Gray. People from all over the country will state that it was obvious the police were not fully at fault, while the police themselves make no such claim. In the end there will be hundreds of versions. Zero sense. And the truth will still be in plain sight.n0mesorahParticipantDear Joseph,
That is true in war and rank in the Army. Civilians are given presumptive innocence. Floyd forfeited no rights by resisting. I give up taking it apart. Your comment is way off.n0mesorahParticipantDear Doing,
Agreed. When one becomes mechanical, they do not instinctively sympathize.n0mesorahParticipantThis has nothing to do with political partisanship. Americans are bored. The civil ones protest. The uncouth; riot. The clergy is absent. The vain role models cannot indulge their fans. The sports heros cannot save the day. The entertainers cannot make their groupies ignore reality. The conservatives stick to their own little life. The liberals, pontificate. The Governors are overwhelmed. The President watches television.

You advanced a narrative that Bohush was prudent about the risks. Then you spread the argument to everywhere else. Now that they seem brash, you put it back on the other side; how bad it is to inform.
Now that I saw a copy of the sign, I disagree. I have no reason to accept that they were spared. And the part about k’chol dinei hatorah has no obvious meaning. It sounds like every community were yidden made bad choices while others were sick and dying. Seems like an attempt to save face.n0mesorahParticipantInteresting how political this discussion is. He is a Democrat who was selected by Obama. Campaigned for Trump, And filled his role for less than a month. In what was designated as a poll on his innocence, almost nobody discussed the details of his meetings, or what was he trying to cover.
n0mesorahParticipantDear Common,
Having your business shut is a religious issue? Oh. Maybe legalizing marijuana is also religious.n0mesorahParticipantDear Shnitzel,
The OU was the first Orthodox group to support civil rights. YI 1962. RCA 1964. Rabbi Louis Tuchman was in Charleston and Durham in the 50’s and was openly pro civil rights. Rabbi Saul Berman was arrested at Selma. Rabbi Yitz Greenberg promoted the idea in NY. Rabbi Tsvi Blanchard. Rabbi Aaron Soloveichik. (see his Civil Rights and Human Dignity)n0mesorahParticipantDear Milhouse,
We encroached on this topic in a different thread. As far as I know, once a separation of church and state is achieved the state is defined as the property of the government. Please point me to any of the framers of our constitution that thought otherwise. I would be very open to your argument. But I never came across any thinker that even considered it.
“And when we go back home we will still be owners here,” You lost me here. Does this mean dual citizenship?n0mesorahParticipantDear Joseph,
Big difference. It was a massive risk to bring up racial tensions at this time. Give Americans their sports, theater, and concerts. It would save more lives, than anything else at this point. However, if this country had some religious leaders……….n0mesorahParticipantCall for a total lockdown because of COVID and the riots. Then have the two demonstrations suppress each other.
n0mesorahParticipantDear Joseph,
This is a very dangerous situation. It has to be diverted before it is stopped. The problem is, this is a national issue. If one area is controlled, another city will react even stronger.June 1, 2020 7:27 am at 7:27 am in reply to: Chasidus bans “informers” from using its facilities #1866300n0mesorahParticipantDear Avi,
Even more problematic, is that they are talking about policing that happened in other communities. That does not seem responsible. They have no idea of the context in other places.BTW, What dinei hatorah are they referring to? Niddui, Neder, or Mesira?
n0mesorahParticipantDear Truth,
You made points in all different directions. I was pointing out that you are responding to people’s opinions. Nobody mentioned any studies before you referenced the CDC. Than you said you do not rely on the CDC. Then you get into an argument about a different study. I think you could just say I do not care about studies. Either way you contradicted yourself on the basis of why you disagree with the original point.Comment 1 Vaccines cause lower fertility.
Comment 2 In fact, NOT getting the Mumps vaccine can make a boy sterile. No studies mentioned. You did not say you agree with the first comment.
The joke I mentioned was not meant at your expense. It posted right after comment 1. I assumed you saw it already. I should have realized that you could have seen it as a personal attack. I’m sorry.n0mesorahParticipantDear Milhouse,
That was your first comment on this thread. Thank you for showing your support.n0mesorahParticipantDear Health,
“Trump is closest to Torah than Biden” This is not the first time I came across such a statement on this site, and I am still shocked by it. Let’s assume it is true. Why does that uphold what you said before?n0mesorahParticipantDear Coffee,
Yes! I do not have any affinity for either party. (Okay. Maybe I prefer Republicans. But not by much.) Our President does not appear to have any leadership capabilities to me. Mr. Biden seems very capable of bungling the simplest political message. (It is not dementia. He has been messing up since before I was born.) It is funny that both candidates had no support in Washington 10 years ago, and now they have a dozen mouthpieces.n0mesorahParticipantSeems more like Nietzsche to me.

On the gemach, point taken. On the low cost hall, you rent the hall and agree that you did not moser. You pay the janitor. Your guest is one of those who called police. If you get found out, you just ask for your money back. Though it seems like you know a lot about this chassidus. And it seems to be a prudent group. If that is correct, than my reply to your comment was lopsided and immature. And I would not think they are playing games with these bans. But then it is not so comparable to what played out in other communities.P. S. Can you please tell us how they set up their corona-minyan?
May 31, 2020 4:26 pm at 4:26 pm in reply to: Chasidus bans “informers” from using its facilities #1866109n0mesorahParticipantIt seems like they just put up a notice. It will work like the paper that says the bochurim will stay in BMG 2 out of 3 shabbosim. Or that they will not smoke in yeshiva. Or the girls will ask permission everytime they leave seminary. Etc. Etc.
n0mesorahParticipantDear Health,
I believe that you are hopelessly partisan. Which is a good thing. Because, what you wrote reflects a horribly twisted version of reality. If the names you mentioned would be attached to the opposite party, would you have the same views?n0mesorahParticipantDear Common,
Both examples you mentioned, are very religious causes to the people involved.May 28, 2020 2:30 pm at 2:30 pm in reply to: Chasidus bans “informers” from using its facilities #1865769n0mesorahParticipantDear Bocher,
Next time I see Reb Eliyahu, I will take it up with him. According to my religion, when you have a question you investigate. Lil’mod U’lelameid. May we all fullfill our obligation to study the Torah in it’s entirety.
P. S. If you can tell me where in O”CH 55 is a moser mentioned.May 28, 2020 2:29 pm at 2:29 pm in reply to: Chasidus bans “informers” from using its facilities #1865768n0mesorahParticipantDear Common,
Teaching through pain might work. Not if your goal is teaching Torah. I could give you a list of like minded mechancim with zero talmidim.May 28, 2020 10:13 am at 10:13 am in reply to: Chasidus bans “informers” from using its facilities #1865682n0mesorahParticipantFiery and Common are claiming this was a unique case. Whatever. I do not know if the police were informed by a neighbor or a member of the community. If so, the chassidim should have clarified that they were being very careful. If that was done, the informer could use a therapist.
n0mesorahParticipantKennedy turned the tide on the cold war. And he kept patriotism high. It has been in free-fall since the 60s, with a few short-lived exceptions. Bush the Elder has very little accomplishments. Nixon Ford Carter may have been the worst decade ever.(But it is a confusing legacy.) Harding should be the worst.
May 27, 2020 11:05 pm at 11:05 pm in reply to: Chasidus bans “informers” from using its facilities #1865589n0mesorahParticipantDear Bocher,
Mesira is clearly because of damaging another yid. If there is no damage at all, the whole mesira is just a word, none of it applies. A million percent if the moser got nothing out of it, then he is less of a rasha than the extreme scenario of the SA.May 27, 2020 11:04 pm at 11:04 pm in reply to: Chasidus bans “informers” from using its facilities #1865588n0mesorahParticipantDear Fiery,
People were really scared. I do not see a gain in hurting more people now. Teach them what would have been the proper way to react.n0mesorahParticipantNow that this issue is behind us, can we agree that it was over blown? Like, if your neighbors made a minyan outside with precautions, you do not have to fight with them. And, this that many yidden did not have a minyan for a month or two, is not from the ten worst things of this pandemic.
n0mesorahParticipantDear Syag,
I read your post over a dozen times. My comment that you mentioned was about others, not the President. {I have/had no clue if you support Trump or are just defending him. I have no problem with either. I was poking fun of people who strongly support him for reasons that Trump clearly disagrees with. For example, Trump has the most un-convincing anti abortion stance.} The media has downplayed this virus, the complete opposite of what happened with Ebola in 2014. The theory of the Democrats holding the economy to affect the elections is like Bill Gates had a hand in creating the coronavirus. As is Trump can do nothing to win this election. He will only win if Biden messes up big time. {Which he is very very experienced at messing up on the campaign trail.} These Governors have to deal with the economic mess more than the white house ever will.n0mesorahParticipantDear Coffee,
Health was kind enough to mention this on another thread. Before that, I was only vaguely aware. I do not read these types of articles. I consider myself too young. (Under two hundred and forty.) I assumed it was Ukraine, because these things are not considered an automatic no for the presidency. Additionally, stories about national figures come out in bunches. Is there still only one accuser, or one setting of abuse? Another point. If this is why he is unfit for office, how is Trump worthy? Was that what Rebyid’s point?n0mesorahParticipantDear Joseph,
Responsibility of the states? If you say so. There is no way the one state can open a factory in another state. Whatever. How did the UN get involved here? They can’t even be useful in fighting illness in Africa.n0mesorahParticipantDear Syag,
I tried to write my thoughts similar to how you wrote yours. I am not sure if I missed you point, or if I found no sense to it. I apologize for the rant.n0mesorahParticipantDear Syag,
Nothing happened. Rather something is not happening. Religious leadership. End of story.n0mesorahParticipantDear Syag,
Thank you! Honestly, your post touched on a lot of different points, I am not confident that I got any of it. Please tell me, what will go away? I do not think even 10% of Americans are gathering in crowded areas. That would be over 30 million people! Where did you get half from? I do not see any cultural divide between Republican and Democrats. The supporting Trump line? That is less than 30% percent. How many of them are being stupid about it? A lot of people support their politicians like their are superstars. Like, a ten year old roots for Yankees/Dodgers, a twenty year old for American/European cars, and a thirty year for Republicans/Democrats. It seems very silly to politicize a virus. [Most other things that we politicize, are only a little bit silly]n0mesorahParticipantDear Bocher,
To say that exactly zero people in any affected community are currently contagious is wishful thinking. The question is at what point is it wise to reopen. I know of young people who had symptoms or were exposed and did not quarantine.May 27, 2020 9:45 am at 9:45 am in reply to: Empirical data: how did we handle COVID vs our neighbors? #1865318n0mesorahParticipantEmpirical data and covid have not really gone together too much.
n0mesorahParticipantDear Coffee,
The anything that was not found, was enough for Mitt Romney to fear “the censure of my own conscience”. Also, according to The President’s legal team no crime was yet uncovered on either of the Biden’s. [The investigation in Ukraine was to uncover a crime.]n0mesorahParticipantDear Joseph,
Everything that was done was without the federal government stepping up production, or national coordination. In your view the Feds could not have done more. The States were ineffective. The virus itself is almost meaningless. No wonder a medical opinion is not needed for public health! Therefore, I can’t even ask you the one question about our President. Here is a random one. Do you think the President feels the suffering of his fellow countrymen?n0mesorahParticipantDear Syag,
The issue is that as soon as the restrictions lifted, there have been too many instances of large gatherings. China took a risk with new year celebrations. America is being stupid. Now I see why so many support the President.n0mesorahParticipantDear Syag,
What will go away? Coronavirus? Maybe it can take the flu with it. Or, maybe it will be here for centuries.n0mesorahParticipantDear Common,
Check. Neither one called anyone Nazi. But Kahane was called that. This misses the point. Your examples are of people who spoke for themselves. They had to answer for their actions. The recent stories are regular people who reflect on their community. Why is Doingmybest the one attempting to clean up for them?n0mesorahParticipantThew point here is that these yidden thrive on the claim that they follow their gedolim and are not influenced by current trends in how they apply Torah to themselves. When a civil commotion like this occurs, it comes across as a serious corruption of religion. The question is not about their values. Rather how come they cannot make their actions fit in with everyone else?

The small business needs the financial help now. Or there will be much less consumers. Economies today are driven by debt. It will not last forever.May 26, 2020 1:09 pm at 1:09 pm in reply to: $1200 for the Public but Trillions of Dollars for Corporations #1864884n0mesorahParticipantDear Coffee,
Almost all Americans want a free market. The issue is oversight. Congress has not been up to the task this century.Independent groups are the main watchdog of today’s market. Capitalism guarding capitalism does not work.n0mesorahParticipantDear Joseph,
You must mean the states. The white house is waiting for it to magically go away.n0mesorahParticipantDear Thetruth,
