Whoever has strong political interests and votes in NYC, should be voting in the Democratic primaries. No matter what those interests are.

What is so hard to understand?

    Dear Reb Eliezer,

Mr. Biden is a regular career politician with a fine track record. You do not need to look at the other candidate to decide to vote for him. His record and his message is enough.

    Dear Mesivta,

We need the Rants section back! You are overestimating the amount of brains that in into political support. People support what the politician stands for, even when there is no reason to think he will ever take that stand.

Case in point, the Yeshivaleit in NJ supported Christie over Corzine. This was despite Corzine being friendly with the community, and putting forth legislation to our benefit. Christie was supported because of his support of religion and social morality. When Thor immoral bills reached his desk, he eagerly signed them. Yet, nobody recanted their support of him over it.

People are more invested in what the politicians stand for, than the politicians themselves.

    Dear Two,

Which part is questioned. What he was? No, I never heard anybody question his record it is public knowledge. Unless you mean the he is too far left, that has been regular campaign stuff.
What he is? Again, no. Unless you mean the whole he is senile garbage. He always seemed this way. People like the way he is an everyday Joe.

    Dear Two,

Actions would be great. That is up to the cities for the most part. And the governors for when it is more than the city could handle. Or a regional crisis.

The President can publicly set the tone for the country. And discuss what can be done in private conversations with the governors.

Biden and Harris are none of these. It is not for them to tell the governors and mayors what to do. One reason why Biden will not discuss the unrest, is to be able to offer a fresh start if he takes office.

If there are other politicians you are thinking of, we can discuss them.

    Dear Resident,

Trump is the most unique president in the modern day. If you like the way he works and what he is capable of, then ignore the risks and vote for him, because there may not a similar candidate again. That is the single advantage that Trump has. He is the only one who can do the things he does. The problem is, he got off the path and picked fights with journalism at large. Including a bunch of other pointless sideshows.

Biden is a low risk candidate. He knows what he is doing. The whole country knows his moderate track record. And he has been trusted by presidents from both parties. The Biden is worse argument, is utter silliness. Trump has little regard for doing things the right way. And dismantles whatever stands in his way. Presidents have done this before to the benefit of the country. We could vote for that. But to vote for him because we cannot stand the other guy (or girl) makes no sense.

I am not going to defend Obama. But going by your list of ten items, they are of the same cloth. They diverge greatly on immigration. Obama’s reforms are halted by Trump. But this is only temporary. And the court’s have already ordered some of them to proceed. Also, Obama redid healthcare. And Trump did tax cuts. Both got awful budgets out of this and little else. Nothing enduring has yet come out of the last 12 years of fiscal policy. Both extended the powers of the executive branch. Both have a solid base to talk to, but could not reach the nation at large. Both will have left over monumental massive wastes of tax dollars, that void whatever prudence they effected. Obama with the ACA. That is not modern or agile enough, to keep up with the most advanced medical treatments in the world. That is even if it was fiscally sustainable to begin with. And the useless wall on our southern border may remain for centuries. Mocking us for eating a leader that did not bother to go with any expert advice on his signature achievement.

We still have dough balance left in our country to prevent any one person from running it into the ground. Though it seems like way to many citizens take life for granted. And that is emboldening our leadership to take dangerous shortcuts through these safeguards.

    Dear One,

My point is that you are wrong about Biden. He has been a more than capable senator for years and years. He ran for the oval office before the first Afghan war. He was the front runner until he did something stupid. Which was because of his speech deficits. He is the same vigorous yet modest leader, that he was then.

    Dear One,

I do not know much about Harris. When she starts influencing policy, I’ll research a bit. This much I know. She did not get where she is, on the race card. Her take on racism, is not what you would expect from a civil rights activist. As a former prosecutor, she is tougher on crime.

There is a lot of sentiment against Israel in the black community. As well as the left in general. This is because they are ignorant. As they learn America’s foreign policy and need actual Israelis, they usually soften their stance.

    Dear Two,

It is so easy to understand, that it does not have to be continually stated. Trump hates the KKK. But his critics claim he does not in far enough to condemn the group. The only reason Trump is accursed of supporting far right groups, is because he sounds like them. Once his position is known, it is stupid to keep asking him to condemn them. In short, condemning violence to clarify policy is pointless.

You made a different point. That the current trend is so abnormal, that it must be condemned. First, we would have to check the record of who condemned it. Once is enough. Those that harp on it are doing it for political gain. (Which is perfectly legitimate.)

At this point, the protests and riots, have lost their momentum. The agenda-driven activists, have returned to their regular activities. It is clear that the violence is more about a lack of faith in law and order, or truth and justice. The solution is to confront the violence and shut it down. At this time, words ring hollow.

    Dear Two,

A politician does not have to condemn every act of violence. It is generally understood that the leaders of the state are for stability.
    Occasionally, a condemnation is necessary.

    1. When it happens on their watch.
Like, the mayor on citywide violence.

    2. When it comes from their demographic.
A black councilman would condemn black violence as a way of moving the dialogue away from race.

    3. If the violence came from what they started.
A political rally that turned violent.

    4. Where there is a combined goal between the politician and those who are committing the violence.
The politician believes the goal is attainable without getting violent.

    5. Where the violence empowers the politician.
The politician will reaffirm his faith in democratic processes.

Now, why does every political group have to come out and condemn all the violent unrest? Solving today’s conflicts, is a long and complex process. Why make it harder with endless condemnations that do not solve anything?

I think there are certain aspects that Trump offers that no-one else can. Being a Washington outsider that does not care what academics think of him, he is free from a lot of the special interests that every President spends so much time diverting.

I would like to discuss the things that Trump should have done. But all the Trump fan club talks about, is how great if is for regular American life, and how terrible the liberals are. And every one who does not drool over Trump is a liberal.

A whole bunch of strong Conservatives detest Trump. Trump himself left the party in the Nineties because it was too far right for him. His orbit is between Times Square, Hollywood, and Palm Beach. There is nothing conservative about his personal life. If you can not be objective about him, then why support him?

Again, if anyone would like to talk about the positives of the real Donald Trump, I am all ears.

    1. We could have a discussion about the Mid East.

    2. Trump does not believe in policies.

3.America is immoral because religious leadership has gone AWOL.

    4. Maybe Trump could balance the budget like he promised. At the end of the day, he will be worse off than Obama. Nothing will hide a useless billion dollar wall sitting on our border.

    5. Trump is as disorderly as there is. He could be in tail next year. If you mean on the streets, he has no clue how to deal with street violence.

    6. There are too many anti Semites in the world. Do not confuse your enemies and your advocates.

    7. Education?! Are you kidding?

    8. The economy does not do better because the stock market has a cheerleader with a toupee.

    9. Less was is true. But more genocide.

    10. Immigration is more American than free markets. Maybe we should send the statue of liberty to Russia or China.

Question to Bk, One, Charlie, and Health: Why does it matter what political leaning fits better with an anarchist group? Anarchists have no relevance to political positions. They are self proclaimed enemies of the state. They do not differentiate between Republican or Democrat. Or capitalism versus communism.

If you are bothered by their activity, then you counter them straight up. By legitimizing all mainstream government leaders and agencies. The issue for these activists is not who is in office.

    Dear Hakatan,

    1. The Avnei Nezer does not mention the oaths. It is an extremely broad response. This equals to an out an out statement that the oaths are a non-factor. The origin of applying the oaths, is a direct counter to the A”NZ. From it’s inception, invoking the oaths has been a radical view. You could skew the state any way you want. The fact is, almost nobody was talking about the oaths from Hertzl until the state was declared.

    2. The Satmar Rav never defined what constitutes a State. To analyze it as halacha is laughable. Although he provides myriads of sources, very few of them are actual evidence. Most of the writing is responses to basic counterarguments.

The world does not work that way. This is not reality. If anti State sentiment’s bother you, try to figure out what they think. We may as well be discussing a Martian invasion.

These people are dangerous. Currently, they are not a real threat. Protests and riots are not part of their tactics. There is more to the topic. You may have a point. Keep it on point. If you want to talk about revolutionaries in general, than keep it general.

One more point. If the major topic of the day is street violence, than we have to realize all the participants. Singling out one type will do nothing to solve the problem. When you want to stop violence, effective counter measures are called for. Political or partisan rhetoric is useless.

I posted this before. The Satmar Rav Z”tl did not prove anything. He endeavored to demonstrate why he held the way he did. His points require counter points. Not refutations.

Here is the question to all ardent anti Zionists. If the three oaths are halacha, why was it omitted before Herzl? Why did none of the oilem who considered establishing a Jewish state in the 19 century, even bring it up?

In sum, this book has to rewrite the Jewish discourse in all different arenas of thought. Then he says If you are a Zionist you have to completely rewrite Judaism. Well, it did not stop him. So what is the problem?

    Dear Syag,

I am not a Democrat. Maybe that is why I do not see anti Trump or a get rid of Trump for the greater good campaign. To me, this is all truck Washington stuff.

The scope of what Mueller investigated is way beyond the depth of your everyday journalist. The media could only report what Mueller wanted them to report. Other than a few minor leaks from Congress. Only the most seasoned reporters can keep up with the investigation and get a real scoop out of it. More than once, someone looked stupid reporting some breakthrough that dissipated within a few hours.

Robert Mueller is the most respected investigator in Washington. Both sides of the aisle, and all kinds of policymakers agree that he only cases about uncovering facts, and is impartial to the implications. Every administration relies on his work. The only parallel is Kissinger in foreign policy.

Mueller said from the very beginning that his investigation would only focus on Russia. Meaning, even if Trump would explicitly tell the investigation that he cut a deal with Putin to get elected, it would be handed over to the Justice Department and Mueller would continue to pursue what else and who else Russia was interfering with.

This was not widely disseminated, and led to great hand wringing among Trump and his supporters. But ultimately led to major disappointment of his opponents. It was all about Russia interfering in our elections. Something that they have done in dozens of countries.

So why did they wipe their electronics? Well, when that FBI agent lost his career over an unprofessional slip, most of the city wiped their electronics. And they swore to do it again every four or eight years. That probably was the most defining moment of The Trump Presidency.
