mylogic37Participant
There is search engine called google….
Monsey Hat Box, Cuff and Co and the hat source to name a few. Hats today are super expensive to me at least.
There is another option which my son has tried for a weekday hat. He is a bochur up in Yeshiva of Rochester (NY). There is a Rebbe there that has a side business that has a website yeshivish hats dot com (all one word). There pricing is very reasonable for those that cannot afford or want to spend $200+ on hats. I guess you will need to know your hat size since it’s online, unless you happen to be driving by the area.
I do NOT know about quality or anything else. You can always ask for references I guess. They have a few google reviews and they have testimonials on their website.
mylogic37ParticipantYes Excellent bus is still running. They advertise in many Jewish weekly advertisement publications in the Catskills and in NYC. They do not have an online presence. Google them for their phone number and pretty sure they can email you the schedule or help you out.
mylogic37ParticipantLoved it when I was kid and now my kids have read all of the books. My opinion yes it is kosher.
The books were written many years ago (starting in 1929) before all of this crazy woke stuff.
I suggest go to the library (or try to find online) and check it out yourself if you are concerned.
mylogic37ParticipantPersonally I am not aware of any Yekkas who does not have their sons wear a Tallis. So to my knowledge everyone keeps the most common minhagim.
Now the wimple it was not done for me when I was a kid, and I have not done it for my sons. Although it was done for my oldest brother as at the time we lived in the Heights.
There is more then one version of Yekkish Minhagim when it comes to certain things. KAJ has their way and other Yeskkish Shuls do not have the Chazzan wear the big hat on their head for example.
mylogic37ParticipantThey are in the Heights, Lakewood, Baltimore, Queens, Monsey, Northern NJ and basically everywhere in the WORLD except Brooklyn where there are still a few here and there. So I have no idea where you are looking. You must not get out of Brooklyn that much anymore. There is a big world out there you know.
mylogic37ParticipantAgudah is trying to do just that. Here is the link https://agudah.org/home/covid19-fund/
June 21, 2019 2:59 pm at 2:59 pm in reply to: Siyum Hashas – Inclement Weather – What Happens? #1745411mylogic37ParticipantA few years ago when the Super Bowl was at the same location, the same question was asked by all of the media. With the super bowl it’s a bit different since they always want the best weather for the game. So the games are either in warm weather climates or in a dome somewhere. So it was a big deal to put the Superbowl in NYC.
What happened at the Superbowl? If you remember the week before the Superbowl it was freezing. Then the DAY of the Superbowl came and the weather was great!
I have a funny feeling the weather will work out for the Siyum Hashas! If not bundle up with some winter hats and gloves and you will be good to go. No biggie unless you are coming from Florida for the Siyum 🙂
mylogic37ParticipantFor a Ben Torah absolutely not!!
In middle of the road kind of person, and watches movies then nothing wrong. Great books and movies. The kids will start reading and won’t put the book down. Great to get your child into reading.
mylogic37ParticipantSorry you cannot use the anti-Semitic card here. The fact of the matter is there are MAJOR problems in our community caused by leadership in our community. Per the usual frum response, Shooting the messenger (fox/yaffed) will not solve the problem.
Did any of you read the Yated Avraham Birnbaum article this past week. He says a lot of what Yaffed is saying but in a much more subtle tone.
August 18, 2017 9:43 am at 9:43 am in reply to: The RCA Are Outta Control, And Do NOT Speak For Me #1341706mylogic37ParticipantJoseph and Popa, Are you going to call out BMG also??… In the APP.com today
LAKEWOOD – Leadership of the township’s large Orthodox Jewish population – which was all-in for Donald Trump in last year’s election – say they want the president to take a stronger stand against the white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups that gathered in Charlottesville, Virginia, for the deadly “Unite the Right” rally.
“Groups marching with swastikas and assault rifles, protected by the very Constitution they seek to destroy, are not defenders of freedom – they are not America,” Rabbi Aaron Kotler and Moshe Zev Weisberg said in a joint statement Thursday, addressing Trump’s defense of the hate groups.
“Now is the time for us all to rise, as a united republic, and to say to each other, once again, that we are one nation where all are equal, with liberty and justice for all,” they said………………..
August 18, 2017 9:35 am at 9:35 am in reply to: The RCA Are Outta Control, And Do NOT Speak For Me #1341708mylogic37ParticipantTo be fair now that I see that Agudah and BMG have come out against trump in this case you should change the title of this post to include these organizations too. It’s not just RCA. It’s all organizations.
August 18, 2017 8:26 am at 8:26 am in reply to: The RCA Are Outta Control, And Do NOT Speak For Me #1341699mylogic37ParticipantAnyone who defends the president in this specific case is crazy. Any Jew that defends Trump on this case is even crazier!! You need to watch the 22 minute vice news video to get an inside look what these Neo Nazis are.
The RCA is 100% correct!
mylogic37ParticipantAs someone stated make sure it is not a TV or movie/youtube playing loudly. I take for grant it the voices you heard are legit. The next time this happens record it (the voices)! Then bring it to your Rav. If he still says do not do anything then get a second opinion from a very respected Rav and show them the recording. If all fails and you have the recording to back you up call the cops.
mylogic37ParticipantJoseph, I hope you are kidding and just trolling. If not you seriously need help.
You must be new here. Welcome 🙂
May 24, 2016 2:00 am at 2:00 am in reply to: LOOKING FOR A DIFFERENT SHUL IN FLATBUSH EAST 30's #1152941mylogic37ParticipantGo daven in different shuls until you find one that is good for you and your sons. Done that’s it. That’s how most people do it. Putting names of shuls here can become a situation. I would not recommend it.
mylogic37ParticipantDo you have ten minutes? If yes put on tefillin say Brochos, Baruch Sheomar, Ashrei, Yishtabach, Entire Shema section, Shemoneh Esrei and that’s it. You are done. Should take 8-10 minutes.
This post is not meant for anyone to be lazy but for those who really need it.
mylogic37Participantcommonsense, Commonsense tells me you are making things up. Why would you donate to something that you are not sure even exist??
mylogic37ParticipantAnother thought is the lower east side community. Very good people there and is close to downtown Brooklyn.
mylogic37ParticipantI agree with yichusdik. I have been thinking the same thing as of late. They have created a new version of the religion.
The folks in Agudah and Israel Charedi parties better be careful. There are a lot of folks, more than 50% that agree that was is going is not correct. They will lose many supporters. We need cooler heads to prevail and get back on track as a community. We need REAL leadership NOT askonim who tell the Rabbonim what to do!!
mylogic37Participantyekke2 you do not have a clue!! Yekke’s do say this! To think someone with a screen name like yekke2 just says outright lies in a public forum misrepresenting the minhagim of yek’s is a bit concerning.
Now after my little rant… Are there some yeks that do not say this? I do not know but I know many many yeks that do say this!!
mylogic37ParticipantAfter a simple google search… http://www.bagelboss.com/rabbinical-letter.php
mylogic37ParticipantTo answer your questions yes I enjoy these articles. It opens are eyes and minds to current out of town communities and the history to past communities.
As the previous poster said above if you do not like it do NOT read it.
I believe the majority of the people do enjoy reading these articles. It could be since you are young it does not relate too much to you.
mylogic37ParticipantWhy is everyone shooting down the messenger?? The issue mentioned above by the original poster we all know happens. We read about similar stories in the Yated and Hamodia after a chol hamoed or something.
Yes there are good frum jews but there are unfortunately there are some frum jews who need to go back to derech eretz class.
Instead of shooting the messenger will all of your reasoning s (loshon horah etc…) maybe take this to heart and try to improve yourself. If everyone tried to improve themselves then we will be a better society.
September 24, 2012 1:38 am at 1:38 am in reply to: Which American community it right for us? #897669mylogic37ParticipantFrom your choices Chicago is a good all around place. All kinds of people and very good in special ed I am told. Problem is Chicago is not cheap to live in.
Another good city which is more affordable and has good programs for special ed is Cleveland OH.
mylogic37ParticipantWhat makes you think they missed yeshiva? Look at the video. It was 7:55AM when they did their bit. So lets say they finished at 8:05. All they need to do is go back to Brooklyn from Manhattan. At worst they were a few minutes late to Yeshiva!! All of you seriously need to get a life and stop hating everyone and anything that you do not agree with.
mylogic37ParticipantMemo to all you haters out their. Whenever a song gets overdone your reaction is normal. Stop listening to the song for a while and you will like it again.
October 30, 2011 9:16 pm at 9:16 pm in reply to: Nasi Project has a new approach, I hear. Is this a nasty rumor? #823966mylogic37Participantyouhavegottobekiddingme: I hear you. In my original post I pointed our there will be exceptions. But it seems maybe more the majority is like yourself and the miniority. Who knows. Only Nasi will know to see if people will shell out the 13K. Sorry if my response offended you/anyone.
October 30, 2011 5:14 pm at 5:14 pm in reply to: Nasi Project has a new approach, I hear. Is this a nasty rumor? #823957mylogic37Participantpopa_bar_abba: I agree I don’t have that kinda of money either. However a 30 year old living at their parents home DOES have that kind of money. That is the benefit of marrying a older single girl. There is a good chance she is alredy financially established.
October 30, 2011 3:34 pm at 3:34 pm in reply to: Nasi Project has a new approach, I hear. Is this a nasty rumor? #823952mylogic37ParticipantI have been reading the negative reaction to the recent Nasi Game Changer ad. I have a lot of thoughts but will only put a few here.
Another thing people are forgetting you only pay if you get married!! Not engaged but married!! You got nothing to lose except if you really want to get married and have shadchanim reading you to good boys you got to pay. In the non jewish world when you pay for such a service you do NOT get your money back if you back out. So this is a pretty good deal. You can back out anytime and get your money returned if it does not work for the individual.
The truth is my first reaction is like everyone else with disgust. But after reading word for word to the entire plan I think it makes a lot of sense and can work for the right individual. People need to think outside the box a little. The only thing I would have changed is the age should have started at 25 and not 22. But they needed to start at 22 since then no one would read 22-24 shidduchim since there is no incentive.
