It’s been biased in favor of boys since, well, Adam met Eve. And its never going to change. Next issue.
myfriendMemberPhotoshop it to make her look like a model. It ought to serve the bum right for asking for a photo.
December 6, 2010 5:00 pm at 5:00 pm in reply to: A Letter I Sent To Hadassa Chapters in US & UK #714915myfriendMemberLike msseeker pointed out, these zionist reshoyim have kidnapped Yemenite children in the hospital, performed unauthorized autopsies and stolen organs of Yidden in the hospital, zionists in jackboots on horseback have beaten innocent yidden on the street. This is their modus operandi.
December 5, 2010 1:24 am at 1:24 am in reply to: help, can I design pritzus clothing to sell to goyim? #721983myfriendMembercherrybim – if you know the incoming call is coming from E Yisroel (i.e. caller id), you cannot answer it.
myfriendMemberThere is good reason the majority of frum people in America live in NY.
myfriendMemberoomis, there is no source for that definition other than your boich teitch. An agunah is a woman who’s husband is lost (i.e. at sea) and his whereabouts unknown. Not one who would like a get but doesn’t get it.
The correct term for a woman who has a halachicly valid reason to demand a get, and based on that a beis din orders the husband to give one and he refuses, is a “mesorevet get” not an agunah.
myfriendMemberJust released:
To Friends and Constituents of Agudath Israel:
As everyone is aware, there is a terrible forest fire raging across northern Israel, which has resulted in scores of deaths and injuries, destruction of numerous buildings, and displacement of thousands of people.
The safety and well-being of our brethren in Eretz Yisroel always occupies a prominent place in our tefillos, but now there is obviously an additional reason to be marbeh b’tefillah, and particularly to have in mind those who have been injured or displaced by the fire or have lost loved ones.
We are establishing a special relief fund for victims of this terrible fire, the proceeds of which will be distributed to those who have suffered loss as a result of the fire. If you would like to contribute to this fund, please make checks payable to Agudath Israel of America, indicate that the contribution is for “Israel Fire Relief Fund,” and mail it to our office at 42 Broadway, New York, NY 10004. Tizku L’mitzvos!
A gutten erev Shabbos and a freilichen Chanuka.

myfriendMemberThe interesting point, I suppose, is that if the other can survive, is he then permanently attached to a dead person? For whatever reason they never surgically detached them all their lives, and there may be reason they can’t/won’t do it now.
myfriendMemberMaybe Dr. 80 knows this. Its a medical question, not a halachic one.
When an (even adult) attached twin dies, is it generally a given the other twin will die shortly thereafter (i.e. within a day or less)?
myfriendMemberI would submit it simply is the point of dancing in front of the Chosson/Kallah after bentching, as the citation brought. Whether they use a gartel, shtreimel, shoelaced shoes, or flip pancakes and make jokes during the dance is all secondary and not the ikkur. But the ikkur idea itself of the mitzvah tantz today comes from the Virti Machzor.
myfriendMemberhello99: Is it being sold in Eretz Yisroel?

While its okay to ask here how cope with this situation, do NOT accept advice from this forum as far as what to do about the shidduch itself. You should speak to a big Rov about that, and not anonymous people here who don’t know the nitty gritty details. Even personal friends who do know more of the details is not wise to follow advice before taking serious action that can harm you, your daughter, and your and her relationships. Speak to a Rov.
myfriendMemberA person should not work in a place where yichud issues arise.

myfriendMemberThe problem with some people here is that they’ve been brainwashed by American liberalism and “equality”. No, there is no equality, not even close. Rid yourselves of your goyish-induced inferiority complex and pickup the proper Yiddish superiority complex. What, did I just utter the super politically-incorrect “superiority” claim? Yes, I proudly and properly did as a Jew.
myfriendMemberShe needs a halachic cause to be able to demand a divorce. Nothing in the OP’s description indicates any reason she would be entitled to a divorce, thus she cannot demand one.
And if she leaves, she would be a “moredes”.
myfriendMemberI kissed a Sefer Torah and learnt an amud of Gemorah.

myfriendMemberMuch of German Jewry was quite sure the German people were the most civilized people in the world.
myfriendMemberBaloney. You cannot make so-called geirim without telling them the mitzvos, knowing good and well the so-called “convert” will never keep even the most basic of mitzvos. Its a fake and it fools no one.
myfriendMemberBest Buy was considered a bit naughty, but L.L. Bean nice. Do you know which list your favorite retailers would land on?…

myfriendMemberSmall claims court is time consuming and cost money. Disputing the credit card charge is quick and easy, and usually successful.
myfriendMemberMDG:
Rav Schwab, in his response (both links above are the same article), acknowledges Rav Dessler’s point that few Gedolim were produced in Germany, and as a result the West imported Gedolim that were produced in the East. He only questions the reasons that was the case, and points out that this became the case even before TIDE came unto the scene.
myfriendMemberRav Shimon Schwab zt”l wrote a response to Rav Dessler zt”l’s above letter:

myfriendMemberThe hocus-pocus so-called “conversions” Amsalem and company advocate, do NOT include requiring a sincere mekabel ol mitzvos.

He committed a serious aveira. He better hope she was moichel him completely.

If you had any inklink how much Jewish blood was spilled on Xmas, you would throw up anytime you saw a Xmas tree lit up and would never tell anyone to enjoy such a bloody holiday.
And all that is even forgetting about the halachic problems of wishing them a good holiday.
myfriendMembercharliehall does not have even an inkling of who Rashi is.
November 29, 2010 4:14 am at 4:14 am in reply to: Give Gentiles Presents During Their Holiday Time #724703myfriendMemberWoman outside Bklyn — You completely missed the boat. You should most certainly NOT be telling them to enjoy your (i.e. their foreign religious) holiday.
myfriendMemberronrsr, my dear friend, the retailer has a stated return policy that they advised the customer PRIOR to the sale that the retailer remains bound to. Best Buy was obligated to accept Pashuteh Yid’s return — even opened — as an open package fell within it stated acceptable return policy. Since BB denied PY the ability to return the product under the printed conditions of BB’s return policy, clearly a charge back would have been both proper and successful. (Charge-backs are generally stacked in the credit card holders favor of winning.)
myfriendMemberJose, well said.
myfriendMemberThe Return Policy makes no mention of the serial number. So in Pashuteh Yid’s case he would’ve gotten his money back in a charge-back had he used a credit card and disputed it.
myfriendMemberPY: You can make the same dreykup about the Reform. The so-called conversions Amsalem’s supports are hocus-pocus forgeries. When he attacks Torah learning, he removes himself from Klal Yisroel. And his being mevaze Talmidei Chachomim like Chachom Ovadi Yosef shlit”a, puts him in the category of an apikorus.

myfriendMemberWal-Mart has a very liberal return policy and does not charge a restocking fee for opened electronics.
Costco and Sam’s Club have even more liberal return policies.
November 28, 2010 4:03 pm at 4:03 pm in reply to: Some important Halachos of Tefillah and pronunciation #1145707myfriendMemberHaLeiVi, your theory is that Titus ym”s took the Yidden from Eretz Yisroel to Rome, and from there they spread to Ashkenaz (i.e. the German King Charlamagne.) Thus Ashkenaz shtams more from the Yidden in Eretz Yisroel than from Bavel. This is the opposite of what ItcheSrulik proposed.
Either way, there is no evidence indicating any more conclusively whether the Sefardim shtam more from E. Yisroel or Bavel, or whether the Ashkenazim shtam more from E. Yisroel or Bavel.
myfriendMemberAnd if someone’s a big Rav its Maran?
myfriendMemberWolf: The CC is not as exceptional on this issue as you may think. He has much company on this point.
myfriendMemberWolf: The Chofetz Chaim didn’t have smicha until he was an old man (and even then only got it for a technical reason he needed it for.)
I sure hope you wouldn’t call him Mr. Kagan had you met him beforehand.
myfriendMembermost heintike s’michos do not mean much.
If most smichos today don’t mean much, then one cannot complain that people don’t refer to someone as “Rabbi” simply because he has smicha.
November 28, 2010 2:42 am at 2:42 am in reply to: Some important Halachos of Tefillah and pronunciation #1145704myfriendMemberItche, Most Rishonim indeed lived in the Ashkenaz area, but that is no proof that Bavel moved to the Ashkenaz area or that Eretz Yisroel moved to the Sefard area.
There is no concrete evidence anywhere that exists indicating where the Yidden from Ashkenaz mostly came from (prior to Ashkenaz), or where the Yidden from Sefard mostly came from (prior to Sefard). If you believe otherwise, please document where such concrete (rather than speculative) evidence exists. It does not.

November 25, 2010 10:51 pm at 10:51 pm in reply to: Some important Halachos of Tefillah and pronunciation #1145696myfriendMemberItcheSrulik: it is a well documented scientific fact that the nucleus of galus ashkenaz came from bavel.
This is neither a scientific “fact”, nor well documented. If you dispute this, please refer us to where this “scientific fact” is “well documented”. A website with these scientific proofs shall suffice.
myfriendMemberIs this a new Mishpacha type competitor?
November 24, 2010 8:46 pm at 8:46 pm in reply to: Modern Orthodoxy, Chassidus, and the Rambam #712199myfriendMemberAnd in the past ten years Yeshivat Chovevei Torah has been even more aggressive in encouraging their talmidim to go to small communities in the interest of building them up.
YCT isn’t Orthodox.
November 24, 2010 8:45 pm at 8:45 pm in reply to: Modern Orthodoxy, Chassidus, and the Rambam #712198myfriendMember“Can I add that according to the Conservative “party line”, you should be shomer shabbos and kashrus, however most who identify as “conservative” are not.”
One distinction between “Conservative” and “Modern Orthodox” is that it is almost impossible to find any community that calls itself “Conservative” in which most of those who identify with it keep Shabat and kashrut. But there are many, many MO communities that are bursting at the seams with Jews who keep Shabat and kashrut.
Yet in many of those MO communities, despite the party line to the contrary, most of them violate various laws – i.e. mixed swimming, covering hair, etc.
myfriendMember“farlozich” is multiple words.
