Rav TuvParticipant
She looked at me with her very blank post-op face and said, “you think we didn’t know?”
Classic. I can really picture her saying that.
Rav TuvParticipantI limit my drinking to Shabbos ando days that end in “y”.
Rav TuvParticipantLet me ask another question:
Since when can you see male patients? You’re not a doctor, you’re not doing anything near pikuach nefesh, so how does a female dental hygenist get to see male patients?
You caask the same question by an GP. When one goes for a physiacl it isnt pikuach nefesh. And one can go to a same sex doctor. I think the answer is its mutar because it isnt derech chibah, IMHO.
Rav TuvParticipantRD- If anyone can find a heter, I’m sure you can.
Rav TuvParticipantMeanwhile there are several Segulos circulating with the advent of Rosh Chodesh Ellul, such as 1000 hours of non-stop praying at Mekomos heKedoshim
41 days non-stop? Where is this segula written?
Rav TuvParticipantPix- pesel micha is in sefer shoftim…near the end.
Rav TuvParticipantNisht,
Chareidim should be held to higher standards. They have self-proclaimed as above and more holy than everyone else. That is why some chareidim feel the necessity to counter anything they perceive as a slight to their beliefs. They can’t have it both ways. If they make themselves above everyone else, then they betteract that way.
Rav TuvParticipantCoffee,
this inappropriate behavior bothers me also. That being said,It isn’t all hareidim as the secular press would have you believe. There is a faction of nudniks who would be better off in the army as they obviously aren’t learning, They are too busy causing chillul Hashem. Also, there aren’t enough chareidim speakiking out against the idiocy.
Rav TuvParticipantI’m pretty sure if he was in Mitzrayim…he was older than 20 after 40 yrs in midbar.
That said, IIRC the Leviiyim did not die in the midbar and went into eretz yisroel. Is it maybe a gemara in bava basra?
Also i remember taht pesel micha was at kriyas hayam.
Rav TuvParticipantCorrect. According to what you say anyone seeing this and not helping because of negiya would be in classification of chosid shoteh…a pious fool.
Rav TuvParticipantUtah, You missed my point and joke. Braun is a cheater. Pure and simple. If MLB was serious about steroids they would ban theses players. If players had to deal with a lifetime ban on the first positive test, they would rid the sport of steroids.
Rav TuvParticipantCharlie, What does Steve Garvey have to do with steroids?
Utah, 5 tool player ? PEDES, HGH, THG, testosterone, amphetamines. Yes Ryan Braun is a 5 tool player.
Rav TuvParticipantMishna berurah is easier to learn and it is accompanied by the SA.
Rav TuvParticipantanything written in the Torah: Hashem told Moshe rabbeinu what to incude in The Torah. Moshe’s words, but Hashem’s Torah.
Rav TuvParticipantBeni, Saying there were multiple writers of Chumash (sic) is denying Torah min hashamayim. And somehow RD doesn’t want to call farber an apikores.
Rav TuvParticipantSam2, I didn’t criticize the voices, you did. I didn’t like the pseudo intellectual mumbo jumbo of studying Torah with a “critical or academic perspective”.
Rav TuvParticipant(he argued that we can accept ascription of much of the Pentateuch to other hands as longs as we maintain- that Torah is from heaven
utter foolishness!!!
Rav TuvParticipant(he argued that we can accept ascription of much of the Pentateuch to other hands as longs as we maintain- that Torah is from heaven
utter foolishness!!!
Rav TuvParticipantThere have long been traditionally/halakhically-observant thinkers who have engaged academic approaches in a serious way.
Like mendelson, ezriel landau, Mapu,etc.
traditionally/halakhically-observant thinkers who have engaged academic approaches in a serious way is the definition of an apikores who doesnt believe in Torah min hashamayim.
Rav TuvParticipantas far as I know, most people here are honest and wouldn’t do something like that.
You have no idea who is honest and who is not online.
Rav TuvParticipantAnd the truth is you don’t really know these people. They are internet personnas. For all you know all those screen names can be the same person.
Rav TuvParticipantMay I suggest obtaining a life.
Rav TuvParticipantFor anyone to deny that there are 4 distinct narrative voices indicates that that individual never studied religion from a critical or academic perspective. I long believed that Modern Orthodoxy must not ignore the evidence and claims made by the Academy.
A yiras shamayim does NOT study Torah from a critical or academic perspative. We study to learn to fulfill the mitzva of TT and instruction of how to do mitzvos.. This bible critique is a product of the haskala. RD im afraid you have gotten a hold of some rotten ideas of what Torah is.
Rav TuvParticipantWhatdo,
Went many years ago in Chicago. Helped me quit a 15 year smoking habit, cold turkey.
Rav TuvParticipantYes hypnotism works. I know first hand. There is no loss of daas, no trance. Hard to explain what happens but it works.
Rav TuvParticipantWIY-Yes I believe you(and Avraham Fried) are correct. It is not thet each dor is on its own, but that it is a cumulative effect. Every maaseh tov brings Mashiach that much closer. We are building on the work of previous doros.
July 17, 2013 11:41 pm at 11:41 pm in reply to: Are we so much different than previous doros? #966511Rav TuvParticipantSam2 Exactly my point. If previous doros couldn’t bring The Geulah. Why do we think we can? Our Dor would have to be relatively better than all the doros that predeeded us.
I am not trying to discourage anyone. Just would appreciate an answer…if there is one.
Rav TuvParticipantand when I dunked, I kept the name),
RD, I didn’t realize you play basketball.
Rav TuvParticipantOOM- Slurpees are Parve.
Rav TuvParticipantDY- Anyone starting a thread for the sole purpose of riling people up. A troll isn’t asking a question becase he is seeking an answer, but to be as procotive as possible.
Rav TuvParticipantI’m thinking RD likes to troll the CR and asks obscure questions to get a rise out of others for his own gratification. Yes that is the definition of a troll.
Rav TuvParticipantMy guess is we follow our mesorah. Also he was a member of the haskala and did not cover his head. Why in the world would we follow such a person’s nusach for tefilla? Also tefilla is not music. Tefila is praise, requesting our needs and giving thanks to th Borei Olam.
July 11, 2013 8:51 pm at 8:51 pm in reply to: Appropriate outdoor activities for the Nine Days #965043Rav TuvParticipantTo be an apikores one has to know what he denies. How can H’ hold a Yid responsible if he has no clue about Hashem. Avraham Avinu was oich a koferoriginally according to R’ Chaim Brisker. He was modeh to a”z. Just like A”A came around to the truth so all Yidden who we call reform and conser should come around. But we have to help them or we cant fault them because the fault is really ours.
Rav TuvParticipantHealth, Fired him? Why isn’t he behind bars? Aren’t educators and health professionals bound by law to report this to the police?
Rav TuvParticipantSyag, Coincidence my 7-11 also has only Kosher slurpees.
July 11, 2013 7:03 pm at 7:03 pm in reply to: Appropriate outdoor activities for the Nine Days #965041Rav TuvParticipantToi,
The Chazon ish is YD Siman 2 sif 16 concerning Ts”n
you are calling Yidden kofrim. How can one be kofer Hashem, when they have no idea about Hashem. Do you have any idea how many Yiden are taken in by Reform/Conservs because they have no Jewish education and don’t know what real yiddishkeit is. Ref/Cons is way more convenient just because they are all over. They are also more welcoming than most ortho shuls. This is the musser we need to take during these days.
July 11, 2013 5:34 pm at 5:34 pm in reply to: Appropriate outdoor activities for the Nine Days #965037Rav TuvParticipantrd- “Reform, Conservative…” these people are kofrim. they are not a branch/sect of yiddishkeit. they dont practice judaism.
Reform and conservative Jews are not kofrim. The Chazon Ish was clear that they are Tinok shenishbu. They don’t know any better. You are so smug and if everybody isnt as frum as you, they are kofrim and reshaim. They are Jews as much as you are. As the Ramban says they may be shogeg but the way you talk about fellow jews are Mazid. And during the nine tug! Hashem yerachem.
Rav TuvParticipantDoesnt manhig have the same gematriya as gehinom?
July 9, 2013 9:27 pm at 9:27 pm in reply to: Appropriate outdoor activities for the Nine Days #965020Rav TuvParticipantIf you are in Chicago go to a Cubs game on the 9 days. It has been making people cry for over a hundred years
Rav TuvParticipantOr the Jews who hate everybody else.
Rav TuvParticipantAnd Zionism, both theoretically and practically, is indeed shmad, kefirah and more, which, in your illogical and unshakeable loyalty to your egel, you always refuse to see
This is hilarious stuff. You Mr Katan, have illogical and unshakable loyalty. Rabanim should leave politics to the politicians and teach Torah misinai and stop getting robots riled up with the zionist bogeyman.
Rav TuvParticipantThe other group are anti-zionists who feel the zionists unnecessarily started a war that was totally avoidable, that trading statehood for autonomy is the only path to peace, see nothing wrong with becoming friends with Muslims, do not see the Arabs as a threat
Complete and utter drivel. Go to Pakistan dressed like a Chareidi. Tell them you are anti -zionist and want to be friends. Let’s see how long you keep your head. The biggest falacy is that “they hate zionists, not Jews.” Hogwash. Dont be naive. These pere adam hate Jews…ALL JEWS period. They dont want to trade statehood. They want all of eretz Yisroel and the Jews in the sea.
Rav TuvParticipantBaseball…Go Cubs!!!
Rav TuvParticipantNusah Italki doesn’t include this braha
Ok MDG the word bracha has a chof yet RD pronounces it braha.Do sephardim spell bracha without the chof also?
Maybe the “c” on the keyboard doesn’t work.
Rav TuvParticipantI guess mussar zoger missed one paragraph in a 2 paragraph post
Unlike the Goyim around us, we (religious) Jews don’t idolize movie stars. In fact, we don’t watch movies and TV at all.
Midwesterner huh? If you read his first paragraph you would see he knows who JG was. But he had to be arrogant and condescending, much the same way you were to me.
Rav TuvParticipantThey don’t have much of one. Other than the fact that their rabbis do it, and chas ve chalila, their rabbis would be in error (the Minhat Elazar holds like this).
Where is that Minhat Elazar?
And RD OT…does the letter “C” not work on your keyboard?
Rav TuvParticipantUnlike the Goyim around us, we (religious) Jews don’t idolize movie stars. In fact, we don’t watch movies and TV at all.
Hey religious Jew: if you dont watch movies and Tv…how do you know who James Gandolfini is?
Rav TuvParticipantY’all are too emotional about this issue. Toeivas will be toeivas no matter what the supreme court says. The real question is whether the state should recognize a “marriage” and give them all the rights of a married couple. I of course am against this because I believe homosexuals can’t have marriage. But this has NOTHING to do with permitting the toeivah act.
Rav TuvParticipantLet’s improve our Tefillah during these Three Weeks.
Since bein adam l’chaveiro issues is the reason for the 3 weeks…Let’s be less judgemental of other yidden. We should concentrate on our own shortcomings than what others are doing.
Rav TuvParticipantI presume you were not aware that the Chzaon Ish held that a person who keeps Torah and mitzvos, but celebrates Israel’s Yom HaAtzmaut, is an apikores
Hakatan, Does this apikorsus status apply to the Ponevezh Yeshiva? They proudly fly the Israeli Zionist flag every Y”H.
While we are at it why don’t you admit the Chazon Ish never said such a thing. And how dare you make up quotes by gedolim just to further your misguided agenda! Edited
