Oh. And for 2000 years the Xtians just critisized (sic. sick!) the extreme and twisted views (in their opinion) of some people (of a certain religion) on other types of things.

mdd, you should be suspended from your job for anti-Chassidic speech. (Of course you’ll be suspended from gan eden after 120 for sinas chinam.)

Such a beautiful thread with mostly serious, intelligent and helpful comments. MyTake, your little speech to yourself and your future husband sent chills down my spine. Teachers should share your idea with their students. You were makriv a real korban to Hashem. What a zechus. Same goes for DRB and others. Hashem sees our daily struggles and will reward us immeasurably.

P.S. Mods, I appreciate your work behind the scenes to keep this thread on such a high level. Kol hakavod, the zechus is yours too.

“I was once on the bus to Wlmsbg, and an older girl got up for me…”

Same happened to me. I was just married, looking young and fresh, but pregnant and weak inside. And I thought if I had to stand the entire way I’ll just die. What a thoughtful girl.

Tell your story to the rav of that shul before you go back. Perhaps he can talk about derech eretz sometime, or even ask the mispallelim right before megillah leining to look around and offer their seats to those who seem to need it more.

ConcernedMember: His Rav said not to invite the man on Shabbos. He’s now asking whether he should invite him during the week instead, or have him talk to others.

How is this disrespecting his Rav? He clearly took the Rav’s advice to heart and is looking for an alternative means of helping the person.

doctormdmd: several of the responders TOTALLY misunderstood what i wrote.

EXACTLY. Which is why I hardly ever post here. The reading miscomprehension is unbelievable.

SJS: Your numbers don’t apply to us. Men without Torah are animals (some good, some bad). My stats are probably also different for Torah Jews, but “difficult” is a subjective term, as TBT pointed out. Difficult Torah Jews would mostly be IMO stubborn, domineering, demanding, etc., not intentionally mean or abusive. Even the real abusers don’t kill their wives. ???? ???????? ?? ??????!

TBT: In my experience, most men mainly try to get the better deal, while most women mainly try to get along. If you consider “taking lots of time to get ready” as being difficult, well, you’re entitled to your *** opinion. Now for being moody: what do most women do when they’re moody, and what do most men do when they’re moody? (Of course you’re entitled to think crying and krechtzing is as bad as yelling and blaming, or even worse, but I think most people would disagree.) I’m not talking about those 16% of witches. For them there is no Torah but their own (no matter how frum they look and sound) and no real cure. They should be left to die as spinsters.

I read these stats in a Psychology book: About 57% of men are considered to be difficult people (or was it 75%? I hope not), as well as about 16% of women. But these 16% are HORRIBLE, much worse than the difficult men. Och un vey to the man who marries one of them. Men, if you find yourself married to an abuser, run for your life before the kids start coming.

OTOH most women have to put up with difficult husbands… that’s life.

Eclipse, before you go: I think you mentioned once that you’re a writer. Have you had anything published? I have a great idea for a book, on a subject that you seem to grasp very well, but I don’t have the time to write it. Perhaps this could be a joint effort. If you’re interested, the mods have my permission to send you my e-mail address. Hatzlacha in whatever you do.

I’m no history expert, but you know what they say, “Maybe it’s true, but if he said it, I don’t believe him.” Please check out the shtuyot spewed by Paul “Ehrlich” over the years. According to him, we shouldn’t have been here at all; the world was supposed to be long gone by now. Even a broken clock is correct twice a day.

Top 10 Sure-Fire Ways to Make You Feel Ehrlicher:

    1. Screen-name yourself Ehrlicheyid.

    2. Think negatively about those who are frummer than you.

    3. Make fun of them.

    4. Look down on them and whine that they look down on you.

    5. If you have nothing to say, start a thread about them.

    6. If you have no sense of humor, just think of anything a meshugener would do and imagine a frummie doing it.

    7. Constantly think of your tzidkus, especially your ????? ??? to keep far, far away from a chumra.

    8. Denigrate ????? ????? whose followers are frummer than you.

    9. Repeat 10 times a day the ???? ????? of ???? that were inscribed in the luchos: ???? ?????, ??????? ?????.

    10. Turn the CR into a ???? ????.

What about abusive wives and mothers, usually those with Borderline Personality Disorder? I suspect it’s MORE prevalant among frum Jews than abusive husbands. These are the sweet women who are the nicest friends, neighbors and relatives and the nastiest “momsters” at home. They usually show all 10 symptoms above, but since they’re female, they’re to be pitied, “understood” and pampered. Their husbands, usually softies, are made to feel like garbage no matter how successful, and being among men, they don’t have the outside support abused women do. If you recognize yourself here, read “Stop Walking On Eggshells”.
